The Yubilyar apple tree at least deserves the favorable attention of gardeners. The variety is appreciated for its minimal care requirements. But it is all the more important to study the nuances of this care and arrangement.
Breeding history of the variety
The Yubilyar apple tree was prepared at the Russian research institute for selection of fruit crops. A team of 4 breeders led the work on it. The origin of the tree is from a seedling of free-form pollination of an elite variety No. 814. This seedling itself was obtained by crossing F2 M. floribunda 821 and Golden Delicious. The main breeding work went on from 1982 to 1995.
Description of the variety
The Yubilyar apple tree has a rounded, moderately dense crown. The presence of large and wide leaves is noted. They are green, wrinkled and have rough nerves. The main branches extend from the trunk at almost right angles, but they themselves grow crooked. The tips of the branches look down, the branches themselves are covered with gray smooth bark.
Shoots:
- moderately thick;
- differ in a cranked shape;
- have a rounded cross-section;
- painted brown;
- have an edge.
Features, pros and cons
The only weakness of this culture is the limited (30 days) shelf life of the crop - and even then only in the refrigerator or cold basement. No other problems are found at all. This should be assumed, at least according to the materials of most sources.
Anniversary has much more advantages:
- high and, moreover, stable fertility;
- ease of gardening;
- minimal time spent on leaving;
- excellent resistance to adverse external factors, including winter cold.
Ripening and fruiting
It will be possible to start picking late summer apples from about 25 August to 5 September. The consumer period lasts until the end of the first autumn month. The very first collection is possible at 3 or 4 years of tree development. In the future, it will be possible to feast on the fruits (or sell them) annually. Under the most favorable conditions, fruits ripen by mid-August.
Growing regions
The Yubilyar variety is ideal for cultivation in the Moscow region. There is no need for additional agronomic training in this area. Due to their relatively low susceptibility to frost, such apple trees can be planted in the north-west of the Russian Federation. There, at first, you will have to protect the planting with spruce branches or synthetic covering material. Mulching of the first year plantings will also be required.
It is permissible to cultivate a plant in:
- Tambovskaya;
- Kaluga;
- Tula;
- Orlovskaya;
- Kursk;
- Smolenskaya;
- Voronezh region.
Yield
The fruitfulness of this type of apple tree grows rather quickly. The harvest from 1 hectare in a large plantation economy reaches 180-185 centners (centners). The active life of the tree lasts from 50 to 75 years. Therefore, you can also enjoy the harvest for a long time. It is impossible to significantly increase the yield of more than described values.
Fruits and their taste
Long-term storage of Yubilyar apples is impossible. They must either be eaten immediately or processed. The permissible time of keeping, even in the refrigerator, is no more than 30 days. The apples are characterized by a greenish-yellow color. Geometrically, they are close to a wide cone.
Other features of the fruits of this variety:
- average weight - 0.13 kg;
- smooth, with expressive shine, rind;
- a large number of subcutaneous points;
- sugar content - 10.5%;
- no risk of shedding from a branch (subject to agricultural standards);
- assessment by tasters - 4.2 for sweet and sour taste, 4.4 additionally for appearance.
Growing features
You can plant the Yubilyar apple tree in the fall. But at the turn of September and October, she usually goes into vegetative hibernation. Therefore, if you are late, the disembarkation will be a serious stress. An additional blow - the arrival of cold weather - the plant may not survive. It is categorically impossible to use nitrogen fertilizers during autumn planting. In the spring, planting work must be completed before the buds are activated.
Top dressing
In the first 24 months after planting, you do not need to feed the tree. For this period, normally everything that is put in the planting hole is enough. In the future, in the spring, they use activating nitrogen supplements. The richer and more fertile the soil, the less frequent and less top dressing should be. A useful and safe option for feeding is laying out organic mulch, substances from which naturally (with melt and rainwater) will help the plant.
Frost resistance
In terms of resistance to cold, the Yubilyar apple tree shows itself quite adequately. It is emphasized that it can withstand cold temperatures down to -25 degrees. But if the temperature drops even more or there is very little snow, there will be no unnecessary reinsurance. In this case, it is correct to use heat-shielding mulching. Some sources write that frost resistance reaches -30 degrees, but it is hardly worth relying on this property.
The apple tree is a popular fruit crop among gardeners. It can be found in many summer cottages.But at the same time, such trees are often affected by various diseases. It is very important to recognize the disease in time and carry out the necessary procedures for a speedy recovery. Otherwise, the fruits will be spoiled, and the tree itself may die altogether.
Review overview
Gardeners note that the variety is good for the end of summer. You won't be able to enjoy the harvest so quickly, but you can get it without any problems. The long wait for fruiting is compensated by the long growing period. The jubilee is suitable for creating commercial orchards producing large quantities of commercial grade apples.
