The apple tree Uralskoe Nalivnoe is a variety that has long taken root in most of Russia, which is unpretentious in care and gives consistently high yields. It is for these qualities that it is appreciated by gardeners and has remained in demand for over 60 years.
Breeding history of the variety
The apple tree Ural Nalivnoe was created by the domestic breeder P.A.Zhavoronkov in 1958 at the South Ural Research Institute of Fruit and Vegetable Growing. During breeding works, such varieties as Papirovka and Ranetka red were used.
Description of the variety
The apple-tree of the Uralskoe Nalivnoe variety is a medium-sized tree, reaching a height of 3-4 m. The crown is dense, round in shape. The branches are located perpendicular to the trunk, have a drooping arrangement.
Leaves are rounded, slightly elongated, smooth, light green in color. They have no pubescence. The edges of the leaf, like all apple trees, have jaggedness, but if we talk specifically about Ural Nalivnoye, then the leaves of this variety have rather small ones.
The flowering of the apple tree of the described variety is small, but quite abundant. The tree is literally covered with flowers of a white shade with pink splashes. They have a cupped structure, their pistils are weakly pubescent or not pubescent at all. Therefore, insects are indispensable for full pollination of flowers.
Features, pros and cons
Apple tree Ural Nalivnoe fell in love with many gardeners for its positive characteristics, and the main one is the abundant annual fruiting, which practically does not depend on weather conditions and care. It is also worth noting the excellent frost resistance - the tree does not die, even if the temperature on the thermometer drops below -35 degrees (for a short time). Of the advantages, it is also worth noting the early onset of fruiting - around the third year, as well as excellent acclimatization after planting. Almost 100% of seedlings take root in a new place painlessly.
As well as a positive quality, the versatility of the fruits and their excellent taste characteristics are distinguished.
But there were also some drawbacks. So, a bountiful harvest has its consequences - very often the branches simply break off under the weight of the apples, so sometimes you have to put props under them.
In especially fruitful years, in addition to strengthening the branches, you need to make top dressing - the apple tree gives all its juices to the fruits, and itself is depleted, so its immunity decreases, and it begins to hurt. To exclude this, you need to feed it with mineral fertilizers during fruiting, and in the winter after harvesting, add a little organic matter to the trunk circle.
Another disadvantage is the small size of the fruit. But rather, this is not a minus, but a feature of the variety, which has a ranetka among its progenitors.
Ripening and fruiting
The flowering of the Ural Nalivnoye apple tree can be considered late - it begins in early summer, when the risk of frost in the northern regions is minimized. The tree is completely non-self-fertile, so if there are no other trees nearby or there are not enough pollinating insects, then you cannot count on a good harvest.
Like flowering, the ripening of fruits in the described apple tree is later - in early autumn.You can remove the fruits from the tree in early September, the harvest takes about 2 weeks.
Yield
Ural Nalivnoe begins to bear fruit quite early - from the third year after disembarkation. From year to year, the number of fruits increases, but their size also decreases. It happens that in one year a record number of apples were removed from the tree, and in the next season the harvest turned out to be an order of magnitude less. This is due to the fact that in the previous year the apple tree gave all its resources to the harvest and did not have time to accumulate useful substances during the winter. In this case, the tree needs feeding.
In general, the productivity of the apple tree Uralskoe Nalivnoe can be assessed as high - it gives up to 200 centners per hectare.
Fruits and their taste
The apples of the Ural Nalivniy took a lot of properties from their progenitor - the Papirovka variety. Their size on young trees varies up to 7-8 cm in diameter, by weight they reach 60 g. With an increase in the age of the apple tree, the fruits on it become smaller, their diameter decreases to 5-6 cm, their weight does not exceed 40 g.
The fruits are round in shape with a slight flattening, weakly pronounced ribbing. They are located on a long stalk characteristic of all ranetki.
The peel of apples is glossy, smooth, there are weakly expressed subcutaneous points on it. When ripe, the color of apples goes from greenish to yellow, but with enough sunlight, all fruits acquire a slight scarlet blush and red streaks.
The pulp is moderately grainy, quite dense, has a characteristic apple aroma, and has a sweet and sour taste. Apples from the Ural Bulk are suitable both for fresh consumption and for conservation. They make wonderful jam and very aromatic compotes.
Growing features
When choosing an apple seedling Uralskoe Nalivnoe, first of all, you need to pay attention to the root system of the plant. It should be moderately branched, well developed, without chopped off roots. Ideally, the purchased seedling was grown in the same climatic zone where you are going to plant it. This will greatly speed up the rooting process and make it less painful for the plant to acclimate to a new location.
The seedling should not be more than 2 years old. Buy young plants only from those nurseries that have proven themselves on the positive side. In the ordinary market, there is a risk of running into not the Ural Nalivnoe apple tree, but a similar variety, but with lower quality varietal characteristics.
The apple tree Ural Nalivnoe, like all other similar plants, loves sunny places that are protected from drafts and winds. Groundwater in the place of their planting should not come close to the surface, otherwise there is a high risk of decay of the root system.
Almost any soil is suitable for these apple trees, but they grow and bear fruit best on loam and sandy loam soil. If there are not enough nutrients in the turf, you need to regularly apply mineral and organic fertilizers to it, and then the fruit tree will have enough nutrients to actively bear fruit every year.
It is recommended to apply fertilizers under the apple tree three times per season:
- during the flowering period, to help the formation of ovaries;
- during the ripening of fruits, which need a large amount of minerals at this time;
- before wintering to nourish the tree after harvest.
The apple tree is a popular fruit crop among gardeners. It can be found in many summer cottages. But at the same time, such trees are often affected by various diseases. It is very important to recognize the disease in time and carry out the necessary procedures for a speedy recovery. Otherwise, the fruits will be spoiled, and the tree itself may die altogether.
