The tireless work of breeders in search of varieties adapted to certain conditions and requirements leads to a constant expansion of the range. Apple tree Tatyana is one of the new universal representatives. Its fruits have good keeping quality, they are used fresh and canned (juices, jams, compotes, preserves, jam).
Breeding history of the variety
Yablonya Tatyana is the result of many years of work in the selection work of specialists from Yekaterinburg. Scientists presented gardeners with a vigorous tree with good winter hardiness and disease resistance.
Description of the variety
A vigorous tree up to 5 meters in height with an annual growth of up to 40-60 cm and an average flowering period. The crown is spreading, however, if properly formed, it can be given a rather compact shape (this stabilizes productivity and fruiting). Young shoots are brightly colored, with time they turn brownish-brown. The branches are covered with traditional size foliage in dark green tones.
Features, pros and cons
A feature of the variety can be called the desire of an adult tree for the frequency of fruiting, when it seeks to "rest", giving a full harvest in a year. Of the advantages, they note excellent winter hardiness and the ability to withstand sudden temperature changes, as well as a shelf life of apples up to 4 months.
The disadvantages include the large dimensions of the tree, which can be slightly minimized by forming the crown. In addition, the variety has a low resistance to fungal infections. Its peculiarity in the frequency of fruiting can also be attributed to negative indicators.
Ripening and fruiting
A tree with autumn fruiting gives its first fruits already in the second year after planting, the gardener will receive a real harvest from the fourth year. Fruits reach removable maturity in early September.
Growing regions
Since the variety was bred in Yekaterinburg, it is adapted for the Urals, and is also grown in Siberia, the Far East and central Russia.
Yield
The yield of the variety is quite high - average indicators are 70-90 kg, however, when ideal agrotechnical conditions are created, fruiting reaches 150, and even 200 kilograms.
Fruits and their taste
Aligned flat-round light fruits of regular shape are colored with a bright cherry blush with visible striping. Apple weight 110 g, juicy white pulp has a pleasant sweet taste (4.7 points tasting score) and good keeping quality - up to 5 months.
Growing features
The optimal time for planting seedlings is spring before bud break, April, early May. The distance between the holes is 3 meters and 4.5 m - in the aisles. Soil preparation is carried out by the standard method: soil enrichment with organic matter and mineral fertilizers, regular watering, weeding and loosening. When choosing a location, preference is given to sunny areas, avoiding the close occurrence of groundwater. In addition to fertilizing and watering, the apple tree needs sanitary and formative pruning. In spring and autumn, dried and diseased branches are removed, the dimensions of the crown, light transmission and ventilation are formed.
Pollination
Tatyana belongs to non-self-fertile varieties, therefore it is better if trees with the same flowering periods grow nearby, for example, Anis Sverdlovsky.
Top dressing
After the first two years after planting, the tree needs nutrients. Top dressing scheme: spring - nitrogen fertilizers, summer - phosphorus and potassium-containing compounds, autumn - organic matter (humus, compost, bird droppings).
Frost resistance
The variety is distinguished by good frost resistance, easily tolerates winter drops in temperature. However, if the frosts are stronger than -30 degrees, it makes sense to cover the near-stem circles of young apple trees with mulch and shovel up more snow.
The apple tree is a popular fruit crop among gardeners. It can be found in many summer cottages. But at the same time, such trees are often affected by various diseases. It is very important to recognize the disease in time and carry out the necessary procedures for a speedy recovery. Otherwise, the fruits will be spoiled, and the tree itself may die altogether.
