Apples are fruits that can be stored for a very long time. In winter, they are able to saturate the body with many vitamins. That is why gardeners grow winter varieties of apple trees in their garden. One of them was the Syabryn variety.
Breeding history of the variety
This apple tree was bred in the eighties of the last century. The author of the variety was the Belarusian breeder G.K. Kovalenko. A hybrid obtained by crossing Prima and Lobo varieties. Syabryna took the best qualities from her ancestors. The application for registration in the state register was submitted only in 2006 by the unitary enterprise "Institute of Fruit Growing". The apple tree received permission to grow in 2013.
Description of the variety
The tree is small and medium in size. Straight branches, the ends of which are directed upward, make the tree compact. Annual branches are rather thin, round. Their slightly pubescent bark has a dark red hue. The bark of the trunk and branches older than one year is rough, greenish-brown in color. Elongated large leaves form a rounded crown of medium density.
Leaves are smooth, dark green in color. The edges of the leaves are raised up, the apex is pointed. The fruits are located on the ringlets. Their density is high. Flowers, white with a pink tint, attract the attention of insects. The tree grows up to 4 meters in height. The apple tree is fast-growing.
Features, pros and cons
The apple tree has a number of positive qualities and practically does not have negative ones. The qualities that gardeners have to themselves include:
- unpretentious care;
- compact size of the tree;
- the ability to self-pollinate;
- early maturity;
- good immunity to scab;
- frost resistance;
- large fruits;
- bountiful harvest;
- good taste of apples;
- long preservation of the fruit of its presentation.
The disadvantage is that with abundant fruiting, apples can become smaller.
Ripening and fruiting
The Syabryna variety belongs to late autumn ripening varieties. Removable maturity of the fruit begins by the end of September. The consumer period lasts from November to January. The first harvest from trees of this variety is harvested by gardeners 4 years after planting.
Growing regions
Syabryna is grown in all regions. In Russia, it has proven itself well not only in the southern regions, but also in the central ones. Recommended for planting in Kaluga, Moscow, Smolensk, Bryansk, Vladimir, Tula, Ryazan, Ivanovo regions.
Yield
The variety is medium-yielding. Up to 13.1 tons of fruits can be harvested from 1 hectare. It gives a stable harvest every year, and this attracts the attention of gardeners.
Fruits and their taste
Apples of this variety are very attractive. The weight of one apple is about 150 g. Rounded fruits are covered with a dense skin, on which a wax coating is felt. It gives the apple a gloss. When the fruits are fully ripe, the main skin color becomes light green, and the integumentary color becomes bright red. The pulp is fine-grained, juicy. The fruit tastes sweet and sour. Tasting assessment of Syabryna fruit - 4.5 points. The sugar content in 100 g of fruits is 9.3%,
Growing features
Apple trees of this variety are unpretentious. In order for the trees to bear fruit, it is enough to follow the traditional rules of agrotechnical care.
Young seedlings are planted in a sunny place that is well protected from winds and drafts. Groundwater should be at least 2.5 m from the root system of the tree. If the groundwater is closer, then a small embankment is made for planting seedlings. They are located at a distance of 4 meters from each other. In a dry year, the trees need watering. In order for the apples to grow large, the central flower must be removed from the inflorescence.
Pollination
Trees of this variety do not need additional pollinators. Sometimes, to obtain a higher yield in the garden, other trees with the same flowering period are planted between the apple trees of this variety.
Top dressing
Like other plants, Syabryn's apple trees need feeding. For this, trace elements, mineral and organic fertilizers are excellent. Organic matter helps the tree to form its crown. Fertilizers containing phosphorus strengthen the root system. It is important to remember that fertilizers must be applied with care. An overabundance of them can have a bad effect on fruiting.
If during the planting of seedlings all the necessary substances were introduced into the hole, then in the first year the trees can only be fertilized with rotted manure. If the garden is planted on peat or sandy soils, then every spring it must be fed with a solution of trace elements. At least two weeks should pass between feeding.
Frost resistance
The apple trees of this variety have high winter hardiness. They tolerate frost well down to -30 ° С. Shelter is not required.
Diseases and pests
Trees have a very high immunity to disease. They are especially resistant to many types of scab.
So that the apples are not affected by the moth, it is necessary to carry out treatment for prevention.Spray trees with insecticides and fungicides in the spring. Whitewashing the trunk with lime also gives a good effect.
The apple tree is a popular fruit crop among gardeners. It can be found in many summer cottages. But at the same time, such trees are often affected by various diseases. It is very important to recognize the disease in time and carry out the necessary procedures for a speedy recovery. Otherwise, the fruits will be spoiled, and the tree itself may die altogether.
Review overview
Gardeners speak very well of this variety. According to them, apples are stored for up to 4 months. During ripening, the fruits do not crumble, which has a good effect on the keeping quality and quality of apples after harvest.
