Apple tree Stroyevskoe is a variety that deservedly occupies one of the first places in the list of domestic elite varieties. A young culture showing excellent results of stable and productive fruiting, frost-resistant, with a strong immune system, will undoubtedly become a real boon for any gardener.
Breeding history of the variety
A relatively young, with good prospects, the Stroyevskoe variety was developed in the well-known oldest All-Russian Research Institute, specializing in the selection of fruit plants. The studies were carried out with the participation of E. N. Sedov, Z. M. Serova, V. V. Zhdanov, E. A. Dolmatov. The purpose of breeding research is to create a unique winter apple variety with excellent winter hardiness, with good fruit quality and reliable indicators of disease resistance.
The test cycle of work was carried out from 1980 to 1991, when the first harvest was obtained. Since 1995, the culture has been included in the list of elite apple trees. Zoned Stroyevskoe in 2001
It was created in the natural conditions of the Moscow region. Now the variety is widespread in the central part of the Russian Federation, in certain regions of Belarus and Ukraine, as well as in the Baltic region.
Description of the variety
The variety is easily recognizable at first glance - the average height of trees is 3-4 m (sometimes even higher), plants with wide, thickened and beautiful pyramidal crowns. The trees are fast growing.
Shoots of a faceted, arcuate, geniculate configuration, with an average thickness, intensively pubescent. Trunks with smooth grayish bark. The stem of the variety is smooth. On fresh shoots, their color becomes brown. Lentils on the shoots are rare.
The leaves are bright green, glossy, ovoid. The ends of the leaves are pointed, slightly curled. The edges of the leaves are wavy, serrated. The leaf blades are covered with pronounced veins, the cuttings are thick and short.
Apple trees bloom with attractive flowers of pale pink shades. During the flowering period, the garden is enveloped in a delicate and sweetish aroma. Fruit setting occurs both on spears and ringlets.
Features, pros and cons
A stable feature of the variety is its significant fertility.
The main advantages of the variety include:
excellent quality characteristics of fruits, perfectly amenable to transportation (they retain their freshness for a long time, without losing their taste);
a high degree of productivity, which makes it possible to collect a significant amount of fruits under not very good weather conditions;
the presence of strong immunity from diseases, wrecking attacks;
long periods of fruiting;
high degree of frost resistance (up to -40 degrees).
Minuses:
the culture is not capable of self-pollination;
late terms of fruiting.
Ripening and fruiting
The variety is characterized by rapid and intense growth. Fruiting is stable and abundant. The type of fruiting is mixed - the buds are laid not only on the ringlets, but also on the fruit twigs. The culture is in no hurry with flowering, and therefore spring frosts do not pose a danger to it.
With a good level of agricultural care and appropriate weather conditions, full-fledged fruit bearing occurs 7-9 years after planting.
Full ripening of the fruits of the variety occurs by the end of September. For proper storage, we recommend keeping them on the tree for another 2-3 weeks.
Fruit picking should be done carefully, without damaging them. The fruits are usually stored in boxes, folding in one layer. Storage rooms should be cool, with low air humidity, and well ventilated. It is important to inspect the fruit regularly, removing damaged specimens.
Apples are characterized by excellent keeping quality, while maintaining their best qualities until the beginning of March. When using special resealable containers, effective storage periods are increased almost until summer.
Depending on the region of cultivation, the periods of fruiting vary. In the central regions of the country, the variety blooms and blooms throughout May, and the fruits ripen at the end of September.
Yield
In the case of a high-quality stock, the first fruits can be seen already in the 5th year of the tree's growth. The fruiting process of the variety is ascending - in the first year the yield is up to 25 kg per apple tree, and later - up to 55-60 kg.
Fruits and their taste
The fruits of the variety are usually medium in size, with a slightly elongated configuration. During ripening, they change their color from yellow-greenish to pronounced golden with red hues. The peel of apples is glossy, smooth. The average weight of the fruit is about 150-170 g, the largest is 200 g (record - 214 g). The configuration is somewhat flattened, conical; the fruits are ribbed, with slightly beveled edges. Peduncles are small, slightly thickened, straight, obliquely set.
The funnel of the fruit is capacious, conical, narrow, with a slight rustiness of the edges. The calyx is closed, the saucer is of medium depth, narrow, grooved. The heart of the fruit is of a bulbous configuration. Closed cameras. The sub-cup tube is of medium length, wedge-shaped. The seeds of the fruits are conical with a light brown color.
The skin of the fruit is smooth, oily and shiny. The consistency of the fruit is snow-white, grainy, melting in the mouth, it tastes sweet and sour. The variety does not lose its taste characteristics even after processing.
According to the composition: sugar - 9.0%, titratable acids - 0.52%, ascorbic acid - 8.7 mg / 100 g, P-active substances - 433 mg / 100 g. Pectins, which are found in significant amounts in fruits, contribute to the normalization of the gastrointestinal tract, eliminating toxins and other harmful elements.
Growing features
For productive cultivation of the variety, when planting, you should adhere to the optimal timing:
in the spring, disembarkation is carried out before the start of sap flow (late March - early April);
in the fall, planting occurs when the volume of proper work is carried out before the time of freezing of the soil, in 1-1.5 months (at the end of September - October).
Planting is carried out in fertile soils with a low acid content. Otherwise, the soil is fertilized.
The landing sites should be illuminated, since trees grow sluggishly in shaded areas, bear little fruit. Dislikes soil varieties saturated with moisture.
For planting, we recommend taking one-year-old seedlings that quickly adapt to new conditions.
The highest yields are observed in trees planted in chernozems, gray forest or sod-podzolic soils.
Timely pruning is essential for the successful growth of the variety. Crowns are formed in the early years after planting seedlings. In the future, the correction of crowns is carried out.
Trimming events are held 2 times a year - in early spring and late autumn. Trees get rid of dried, deformed and weak branches.
Pollination
The disadvantage of the culture is the inability of the plant to self-pollination. To obtain full-fledged harvests, a number of tested varieties are planted near the culture: Imrus, Veteran, In Memory of a Warrior.
Diseases and pests
The variety is resistant to diseases and pest attacks. However, this does not mean that preventive measures can be ignored:
the spread of powdery mildew will prevent the treatment of plants with a composition of colloidal sulfur (80 g per bucket of water);
the spread of moniliosis is prevented by the immediate elimination and destruction of the affected fetuses;
the variety is rarely attacked by insects, and therefore additional plant protection measures are not required here (with the exception of cases when the apple tree is located close to damaged fruit crops).
The apple tree is a popular fruit crop among gardeners. It can be found in many summer cottages. But at the same time, such trees are often affected by various diseases. It is very important to recognize the disease in time and carry out the necessary procedures for a speedy recovery. Otherwise, the fruits will be spoiled, and the tree itself may die altogether.
