The Pinova variety is quite popular among gardeners. Its name can also be referred to as Pinova. It has a high yield level. Ripe fruits can be used fresh or for homemade preserves, jams and other products.
Description of the variety
This variety of apples bred in Germany was obtained by crossing the varieties Golden Delicious and Clivia. The tree blooms at a later date. The Pinova apple tree is prone to excessive fruit setting and crop overload.
The Pinova apple tree has a wide-pyramidal medium thickened crown.
The total height of mature trees can reach 3.5 meters. The species belongs to the group of medium-sized and early-growing. The variety practically does not crumble during the ripening of the fruit.
Features, pros and cons
This variety of apple trees can be used not only for home cultivation in orchards and vegetable gardens, but also for growing fruits on an industrial scale due to its high yield.
Among the main advantages of this species, in addition to high yields, it is also worth highlighting high frost resistance, resistance to various diseases and pests.
This variety has practically no minuses. It can only be noted that it is susceptible to bacterial burns.
Ripening and fruiting
The Pinov apple tree ripens at a later date. It belongs to the winter species. At the same time, removable maturity, as a rule, occurs in late September and early October. The tree bears fruit every year. After planting, the apple tree begins to bear fruit for 5 years.
Yield
The Pinova apple tree boasts a fairly high yield. So, from one tree you can collect up to 40 kilograms of ripe fruits per season.
Fruits and their taste
Ripe apples of this variety are large in size, they are one-dimensional, their shape is rounded-conical. They all have a rather narrow top. Their color is yellow-green with light shading of red-orange.
Apples have a thin skin, but at the same time it is very dense, shiny and smooth. The pulp of ripe fruits has a light yellow color, it is dense, juicy and slightly brittle. The fruit has a sweet and sour taste with a pleasant light aroma.
The harvested fruit can be stored in this form for another two months. The average weight of one fruit is 180 grams.
Growing features
Before planting young seedlings of such an apple tree, it is worth choosing the right place for this. It should be dry, well lit and ventilated, but at the same time it is necessary to avoid drafts, which can start to hurt trees.
Pinova's apple tree prefers airy soil saturated with oxygen. It is not recommended to plant it in black soil or clay. The root system of the seedlings will need to be pretreated and hydrated. To do this, it is lowered into a container filled with warm water. All damaged appendages should be removed immediately.
After that, planting holes are dug. Their depth should be at least 80 centimeters, and their diameter should be at least 1 meter. At the bottom of each of them, soil is poured from the upper layers, it is pre-mixed with fertilizers and fed with water.
Stakes are immediately driven into the holes, they will be needed to garter young seedlings. It will be possible to take them out no earlier than the fourth year of cultivation.
The root collar of each seedling should be about 7-8 centimeters above the soil surface. A drainage layer is laid out on the bottom in advance.
Before fixing the plants in the holes, their root system should be well spread. After that, the vegetation is abundantly flooded with water. It is also recommended to mulch the surface with chopped grass mass, compost and humus.
During the growth process, it is recommended to periodically mulch, add humus, compost, peat, and sawdust. This will keep the required amount of moisture inside the soil.
If the plant will not bloom or bear fruit, then pruning or transplanting trees should be done. You also need to check them for pests and diseases.
Pollination
Pinov's apple tree is self-fertile. In order for it to be able to produce a full-fledged harvest every year, other varieties of such fruit trees must necessarily grow next to it, including Golden Delicious, Champion, Melrose and Idared. Sometimes some other varieties are planted nearby.
Top dressing
In order for the plants to be able to fully grow and develop, it will be necessary to regularly apply nutritious fertilizers. Top dressing can be omitted only in the first 2 years after planting. Further, it is better to use mineral and organic compounds, alternating with each other after a year.
In the spring season, substances containing nitrogen are introduced. At the final stage of flowering, various complex minerals are used, which contain potassium and phosphorus.
Frost resistance
The Pinova apple tree belongs to the winter-hardy variety. But when grown in regions with cold and harsh winters, it is better to prepare trees in advance and cover them before the onset of severe frosts. If necessary, the level of frost resistance of plants can be increased using the capabilities of agricultural technology.
Diseases and pests
This variety is also considered resistant to various diseases and pests. He rarely suffers from powdery mildew and scab, so there is no need to additionally treat such a culture with protective compounds.
So that the trees do not get sick, you should constantly monitor the level of soil moisture. Otherwise, there is a high probability that putrefactive processes will begin to develop in the soil, which can cause significant damage to the root system.
The apple tree is a popular fruit crop among gardeners. It can be found in many summer cottages. But at the same time, such trees are often affected by various diseases. It is very important to recognize the disease in time and carry out the necessary procedures for a speedy recovery. Otherwise, the fruits will be spoiled, and the tree itself may die altogether.
