One of the most demanded fruits on our table is an apple. Today you can grow this tree without difficulty on your own plot, it is enough to know the elementary rules of agricultural technology. A good option would be Kitayka Zolotaya early.
Breeding history of the variety
The variety appeared thanks to the selection of IV Michurin. To create it, it was necessary to cross the apple trees White and Kitayka.
Description of the variety
Trees of the described variety grow either large or medium in height, it all depends on the quality of the pruning. While they are young, their crown has a broom-shaped shape, after 5 years it turns into a spreading, weeping one.
The leaves of Kitayka Zolotoi are early light, slightly elongated, and slightly pubescent. On them you can see the crenate serration.
The branches are orange-yellow, long and thin.
Shoots differ in shade, they are greenish-yellow, but also thin and straight.
Features, pros and cons
The fruits of this variety are larger than ranetki. The advantages are:
excellent taste of apples;
easy care;
high content of vitamins in fruits, sucrose.
Many of the minuses include rather small fruits.
Ripening and fruiting
Kitaika Zolotaya early is an early summer species of apple, apples ripen at the end of July. The tree begins to bear fruit from 3 or 4 years after the seedlings were planted.
Growing regions
Despite the fact that you can find a tree in many regions of our country, the North-West and Volga-Vyatka regions are considered the main ones.
Yield
The yield of the variety is assessed as low. The maximum apple tree can bear up to 100 kg, and then only because it grows tall with a large number of fruiting shoots.
Fruits and their taste
Fruits are prized for their versatility and are ideal for making preserves, compotes and jams. Their color is beautiful, amber-yellow, the integumentary color is absent.
The apples are round in shape, reach a mass of no more than 30-40 grams, therefore, they are considered small. They taste sour.
The plucked fruits will lie for no more than a week, so they are immediately allowed to be processed.
Growing features
In order for the tree to root normally, a planting hole is dug for it twice as wide as the rhizome. Experts advise, when planting, to improve the soil with high-quality compost or rotted manure so that the apple tree has enough nutrients.
Be sure to mulch the soil near the tree. The advantage of this practice is that weeds that actively consume moisture and nutrients do not grow, and moisture does not escape during periods of drought.
When planting Kitayka Golden early, it is worth using at least two trellises.Once the tree is established and well-rooted, they can be removed. This quality support will help the tree to withstand strong winds.
If an apple tree with bare roots is planted, do not overdo it with water. The described variety needs moderate watering until leaf and flower buds begin to appear. In general, the gardener needs to be careful with watering, since waterlogging of the soil leads to the appearance of rot, which is then not so easy to deal with.
The best place to plant is a small hillock to keep the soil well-drained. It is very important to estimate the amount of light on the site that Kitayka Zolotaya early will receive. Do not plant it in the shade of large trees, this will worsen the quality of the fruit, increase the likelihood of fungal infections, since the leaves will not dry out well after rain. Excessive moisture is an ideal breeding ground for pathogenic bacteria.
As the young tree grows, it is regularly pruned to the desired shape. During the first two years, crown formation is more important than fruit production. Experts recommend pruning Kitayka Zolotoy early in early spring, so that possible fungal diseases can be avoided.
These apple trees tend to develop many internal shoots that thicken the crown and overload the tree. Reducing their number allows you to improve fruiting.
Apples will bear fruit on the same side shoots from the main leading stem, so pruning is avoided.
Pollination
Apple trees of this variety love company. Other varieties are responsible for pollination. You can rely on insects, but you need to understand that bees and butterflies hide in the rain, and if the weather is not favorable, then there is no question of any high-quality pollination.
Experienced gardeners get out of the situation simply - they plant several varieties of apple trees on the site. It is imperative that they bloom at the same time as Kitaika Golden early. You can put a couple of beehives next to it, but it's even easier to graft a different variety on a tree.
Top dressing
Despite the fact that fertilizers are extremely necessary for the normal growth of this variety, you need to be careful with them, avoiding excessive intoxication of the soil. Experienced gardeners first carry out a special soil test and see which micro- and macroelements the tree may lack.
You can use organic fertilizers in the form of dolomite flour, ash, manure, poultry droppings, or you can use complex commercial mixtures to maintain normal growth.
In both cases, it is important to observe the proportion. As an example, too much boron in the ground leads to an even earlier ripening of fruits, but at the same time they cannot be eaten due to toxicity.
Frost resistance
The frost resistance of the described variety is assessed by experts as high.
Diseases and pests
The resistance to scab in Kitayka Zolotoy early is weak, as well as to other common diseases.
Sap-sucking insects such as aphids are easily identified. From them can be used in early spring, until the leaf buds, garden oil, garlic infusion have blossomed. Prevention is imperative when we talk about caring for the described tree.
As far as fungal infections are concerned, most of them can be avoided by pruning. It is important to maintain good air circulation in the crown. Fallen leaves and fruits are also removed, since fungal spores can hibernate in them. Fungicides, including those based on sulfur, help a lot, but they can be used in strictly defined periods. In our case, this is early spring, then with an interval of 10 days.
Processing is carried out only in dry weather and is not carried out during the harvest season.
The apple tree is a popular fruit crop among gardeners. It can be found in many summer cottages. But at the same time, such trees are often affected by various diseases. It is very important to recognize the disease in time and carry out the necessary procedures for a speedy recovery. Otherwise, the fruits will be spoiled, and the tree itself may die altogether.
