For the first time, Aphrodite appeared at the All-Russian Research Institute of Breeding of Fruit Crops thanks to Sedov E. N., Serova Z. M., Zhdanov V. V. and Dolmatov E. A. A group of breeders received this promising variety from seeds from free pollination in 1981.

Apple trees have distinctive qualities, among which there are both positive and negative.

The advantages of Aphrodite include the following facts:

• decent tolerance to the harsh conditions of the winter climate;

• there is no need to cover the culture in the winter;

• tree roots do not suffer from the proximity of groundwater;

• the variety is high yielding;

• fruiting is annual;

• practically not affected by scab;

• fruits are of high quality, have good marketability;

• the crop can be stored for a long time.

There are also disadvantages that are not so significant:

• the fruits are quite large, so it is a little difficult to harvest;

• trees are not suitable for growing in small areas;

• the variety is not self-fertile.

Apple trees are fast-growing and, regardless of the weather conditions, you can harvest a rich harvest every year. The variety is early winter, fruits are harvested on September 15-20. The culture begins to bear fruit at 3 years after planting the seedling in the ground.

The frost-resistant variety is able to feel comfortable even in the harshest conditions, and is also not too picky about the soil, therefore, it can most often be found in the following regions:

• Volga region;

• middle strip of Russia;

• Ural;

• the northern part of the Russian Federation;

• Moscow region;

• Bashkiria;

• Ukraine.

The most productive trees become at the age of 9-12 years. Each year, about 125 centners per hectare of fruit can be harvested from one tree.

Apples are medium in size, have a greenish-yellow basic color, while the integumentary one appears as a blurred blush, dark crimson stripes and specks. The shape of the fruit is oblique, medium flattened and wide ribbed. The skin is soft and smooth, slightly oily and shiny. On it you can see many gray and well-visible subcutaneous points. One apple weighs an average of 125 g.

When eating apples, you can see white and firm flesh with pink veins. It is fine-grained and very juicy, has a sweet and sour taste and a mild aroma.

Fruits can be stored for about 100 days in comfortable storage conditions, and also have a high marketability.

It is recommended to plant plants in sunny areas in which there is no through wind.

There is a scheme according to which fruit crops are fertilized:

1. the first feeding is carried out in the spring, in March or April;

2. the second time the trees are fed at the beginning of summer;

3. autumn feeding is carried out at the end of August or September;

4. the last time the apple trees are fed after harvesting the fruits.

The following organic feeds are used:

• manure;

• bone flour;

• bird droppings;

• humus.

It is also recommended to use mineral fertilizers, which contain phosphorus and potassium. It must be remembered that the application of fertilizing takes place taking into account the dimensions of the tree and its age.

Aphrodite is able to endure severe frosts, as it has a high frost resistance. Trees do not require shelter during the winter.

The variety is moderately resistant to various diseases and pests, and has normal scab resistance. To reduce the risk of tree damage, simple maintenance guidelines must be followed.

• The garden is periodically cleared of fallen leaves and dry branches. This will help prevent the spread of fruit rot.

• The trunk must be protected from a variety of insects with chalk or lime (depending on the age of the plant).

• To save yourself from problems with rodents, you should moisten sawdust in kerosene and scatter them around the trunk of the apple trees. In winter, the trunk is covered with pine branches or tied with parchment.
