Features of sliding gates on screw piles

Entry to any territory, be it a private house or warehouse, always takes place through the gate. They can be in different designs - swing, sliding or sliding. In addition, if the gate is installed in an area where there are already buildings, space does not always allow installing sliding structures on rail guides. Screw piles do not pose this problem.

When choosing a place for installing sliding gates on piles, you should take into account the installation features. If there is a rocky surface under the soil layer, then installing the piles will require much more time and technology.

Such gates should be installed on the ground, which will allow you to go deeper by 2-3 meters. Piles can be compared to large self-tapping screws that are screwed into the ground. If the soil is mixed with stone, it will be difficult to do. The distance between screwed-in piles depends on the length of the web, but is usually 2.5-3 m.

The installation itself takes place in several stages:

• The installation location is determined first. It is necessary to take into account not only the condition of the soil, but also the availability of free space for roller mechanisms.
• Calculations are made, on the basis of which the markup is made.
• Small indentations are made with ordinary garden drills. Then piles are screwed into them.
• The piles are aligned to the top level of the ground, the empty space of the piles and the cavities around them are filled with concrete.
• A guide channel is welded, roller mechanisms are attached.

For the correct choice of the diameter of the piles, the dimensions of the canvas are taken into account.They must withstand significant wind loads and the weight of the structure itself. Accordingly, the larger the dimensions of the gate, the thicker the piles should be.

After installing the piles and assembling the canvas, additional elements are installed on the structure - roller guides and catchers at the top and bottom. The catchers are mounted on the receiving post and securely fix the gate in the closed position. The pile length and diameter directly depend on the composition of the soil.

The piles are made of anti-corrosion materials with an additional protective coating. Such requirements apply to all piles, regardless of what type of soil they will be installed on. When choosing them, you need to pay attention to the presence of a quality certificate.

Piles come in standard sizes - from 57 to 89 mm. The blade pitch for them varies from 2000 to 4000 mm. Depending on their size, they can be installed manually or with special equipment. For the manufacture of the door frame, profile pipes are used. They differ in cross-sectional diameter and can range from 50x50 to 60x40 mm. Structural stiffeners are also made of the same pipes, but with a smaller section.

For door facing, corrugated board (profiled sheets) is used. It can be either one- or two-sided, have a different shape and depth of the wave. These parameters are only for design load and do not affect the quality of the door. Decking can be used to sheathe the gate from one or both sides.

Additionally, the structure is equipped with fittings necessary for their functioning:

• A rail made of anti-corrosion material to guide the movement.
• Cantilever beams of different weights.
• Carriages (roller bearings).
• Sash catchers for top and bottom.
• Plugs and knurled roller.

Sliding gates are necessarily equipped with an automatic opening system. It is an electric motor with a toothed rack. When installing an electric motor, additional accessories are usually mounted with it - a battery to ensure uninterrupted operation, photocells and signal lamps, manual control panels.

Electric motors are installed on the gate structure. They open the leaf only in one direction, so such sashes can be installed on the corner sections of the fence. When installing a frame, on both sides of which there will be a fence, additional space must be taken into account in the project. For normal opening in such installation places, it is necessary to allocate an additional 1.5 m width from the inside of the fence. This is due to the design features of the doors - in addition to the leaf itself, they have a cantilever part, which remains on the foundation itself with supports and a drive.

In addition, the installation of the channel in the lower part of the piles can be made not rigid, but adjustable. This will allow you to change the height of the lower edge of the gate. This mounting option will be an excellent choice if you plan to lay asphalt or concrete slabs in the future.

There is no standard price for sliding gates. It is individual in each case and is formed from several factors. Firstly, this is the total cost of the materials themselves used in the manufacture of the structure - the frame of the frame, the dimensions of the canvas itself, accessories and additional equipment. Also, this component is influenced by the brands of materials used and their quality.

Secondly, this is the cost of preparatory work. Piles come in different lengths and diameters, which directly affects the price of their installation.The cost of installing a gate is also influenced by the rental of special equipment - its delivery to the installation site and the cost of work. If the soil is soft and the dimensions of the piles are small, then the installation can be carried out manually, without the use of special equipment.

Installation work for the installation includes the cost of the services of the working crews. The final cost also depends on the price of delivery of materials to the construction site. If the territory is not connected to electricity, you will have to pay for the rental of electric generators. Night work will require the use of additional equipment - lighting devices (masts or light towers).

• When choosing a certain type of structure, it is worthwhile to conduct a professional study of the soil of your site, read the reviews on the types of structures. You also need to take into account the season - only summer days are suitable for pouring the foundation.
• Sliding gates on a monolithic foundation with columnar supports can be installed in places where the soil is homogeneous in structure and not susceptible to shifts or subsidence.
• If the features of the site do not allow the installation of such gates, it is worth stopping the choice on sliding options with screw piles.
