One of the most sought-after types of fruit trees in garden plots is cherry. The Persistent variety is loved by gardeners of all levels due to its unpretentiousness and good yield. It is suitable for fresh consumption, for conservation, therefore it is very popular in our country.
Breeding history
This variety was obtained as a result of the work of breeders of the All-Russian Research Institute for the selection of fruit crops. Scientists needed to combine several well-known varieties to be successful. The varieties Zhukovskaya, Cinderella, Zarya of the Volga region were used. In 2006, the cherry was added to the State Register, and the variety was officially registered. Gardeners from all regions of Russia have actively begun to plant Stoicaya.
Description of the variety
The name of this variety already gives it a certain characteristic. The tree is tall, it is strong enough to withstand the weather conditions of all Russian regions. Description of the variety:
the tree is medium-sized, has a spreading crown, but of medium thickening, oval in shape;
the height of the tree can reach 3 m;
shoots of medium size, fairly straight, brown-brown color;
the trunk bark is also brown, peeling;
4 mm buds deviate from the shoot, oval shape;
the leaf is narrow, close to an oval in shape, the color is green;
the top of the leaf sharply sharpens, its edges have serrate-type notches;
the surface of the leaf is dull-wrinkled, the plate bends downward;
pigmented petioles up to 2 mm in diameter, length - 3.5 cm;
inflorescence of 3 buds, corolla open, saucer-shaped;
petals are white, close together, touching;
pistil above petals, length 8.3 mm;
fruiting on bunch-type branches, the shape of the cup is like a bell.
The variety is partly pollinated, so it is necessary to plant several trees on the site. There must be at least two of them. Optimal pollinator varieties for the Resistant:
Youth;
Lyubskaya;
Vladimirskaya;
Turgenevka;
Moscow Griot.
The greatest advantages of the variety are considered to be good yield, fresh fruit taste. But there are also disadvantages, for example, poor resistance to coccomycosis, moniliosis.
Fruit characteristics
The weight of one cherry varies from 4.4 to 5 grams, the shape of the fruit is round. You can pick it off the stalk without much difficulty, so harvesting is not problematic. Among the characteristics are the following:
fruit color is darkish red;
the stone is small, perfectly separates from the pulp;
the cherry has no funnel, the top has a rounded shape;
the pulp is dark red, medium density, tender texture, red juice;
the peduncle is long, not too thick;
the mass of the stone is about 0.25 grams, the color of the stone is yellow.
Taste qualities
Since the pulp is not too dense and tender, it is very pleasant when eaten fresh. The mark from the tasting point of view is 4.5 points. Consisting of:
15.3% dry matter;
10.1% sugar;
1.6% acid.
Cherry contains a lot of pectin, vitamins, micro- and macroelements, folic acid. The variety belongs to universal, excellent compotes, jams, preserves, juices, and alcoholic beverages are obtained from the Stand.
Ripening and fruiting
This variety blooms in the second half of May. The fruits also ripen at the average level - in mid-July. Fully begins to bear fruit from 4 years old, partial self-fertility.
Yield
The variety belongs to the average yield level. An average of about 84 centners per hectare is collected. The maximum recorded yield is about 125 centners per hectare.
Landing
Cherries of this variety need careful selection of the site, otherwise the growth and fruiting may differ from those stated. It is also very important to choose the right time for disembarkation. The period of the procedure is selected based on the region of stay. In the south, Persistent is mainly planted in autumn and spring. In the central and northern regions, the optimal planting time is spring. When choosing a site, be guided by the following nuances:
it must be well lit;
the soil is preferable of a sandy type, there should not be groundwater nearby;
grows well on loam;
Persistent cherry does not tolerate transplantation, therefore, a mistake in choosing a landing site can turn into sad consequences.
Regardless of the planting period, the soil is prepared in the fall. The soil is preferable neutral, if it is closer to acidic, it is necessary to neutralize it with lime or dolomite flour. The soil is dug to the depth of the shovel. If you decide to increase the nutritional value with organic matter, this should be done a week after the introduction of neutralizing components. The distance between trees should not be less than 3 m. Do not forget that the variety requires cross-pollination, plant several trees of different varieties at once. The landing algorithm is traditional. The hole is up to 60 cm deep, the diameter is about 80 cm. The root collar remains above the surface. The roots are straightened, the soil mixture is covered with parts, rammed, a hole is formed with an indent from the trunk by 30 cm, into which water is introduced. After absorbing moisture, the surface is mulched, the tree is tied up.
Growing and care
As long as the Persistent cherry remains a young tree, it is important to organize proper care for it according to the season.
Spring. No fertilization is applied in the first, second and third years. It is necessary to loosen the soil periodically, but not too deeply. Organize competent watering of the plant, remove weeds, cut. When the tree begins to bear fruit, it needs to be watered more actively, especially during hot periods. The watering rate during the formation of flowers, shoots and fruits is 3 buckets under the trunk. To attract insects for pollination, it is necessary to spray with an aqueous solution of honey. An adult tree is loosened at least three times per season.In the early period of spring, when the buds have not blossomed, the Resistant is cut off, shoots are removed at the roots, the soil is mulched. It is important to take preventive measures against pests and diseases.
Summer. During this period, it is very important to give the plant a sufficient amount of water and nutrition, to protect it from pests, diseases, and weeds. Trees need to be moistened regularly, especially if the weather is hot. During this period, the Resistant can partially shed the ovary, immediately after that it is important to feed the tree with nitrogen fertilizers. After about a month, potash-phosphorus compounds are introduced, when the tree is already bearing fruit. This variety ripens in the summer, so it is necessary to harvest on time, the Resistant ripens around mid-July. The harvest period may vary slightly depending on the region of growth.
Autumn. In the autumn, it is necessary to provide the plant with minerals and organic matter. Top dressing is applied to the trunk circle, digging it about 10 cm if the plant is young. The soil of a fruiting tree is buried 20 cm deep. This procedure is carried out when the foliage begins to take on a yellow tint. It is better to apply top dressing a few days after the rain. If the fall is dry, it is important to moisten the soil yourself. And also in the fall, pre-winter watering is carried out. In the middle of the period, you can lay out baits for rodents, whitewash the trunks, the base of the branches of the skeletal type. In November, all the foliage is collected, the near-trunk soil is mulched. If the plant is young, it is better to tie the trunks with spruce branches.
