The Malinovka variety is a cherry tree popular and beloved by gardeners. Differs in unpretentiousness and good yield. Berries are used for the preparation of compotes, freezing, drying. The variety is suitable for gardening and industrial cultivation.
Breeding history
The variety was created in 1977 on the basis of the All-Russian Institute of Selection and Technology of Horticulture and Nursery by breeders Kh. K. Enikeev, SN Satarova. Included in the State Register in 1989.
Description of the variety
The tree is medium-sized, 3-3.5 m high, with a dense spherical crown. The leaves are small, glossy, the edge of the leaf plate is crenate, the color is dark green. Flowering begins at the end of May.
Fruit characteristics
The berries are medium, weight 3.9 g, rounded, crimson-red. The pulp is juicy and tender, with a pleasant aroma. The stone is large, well separated. They have a high presentation, store well.
Taste qualities
Sweet and sour refreshing taste.
Ripening and fruiting
The plant begins to bear fruit at the age of 3-5 years. In terms of ripening, this is a mid-season species: the berries ripen in late July - early August.
Yield
An average of 10-14 kg of fruits are removed from one tree.
Growing regions
The culture is recommended for growing in the Central, Middle Volga, Ural regions.
Self-fertility and the need for pollinators
A self-fertile variety, to obtain a high yield, the planting of additional pollinators is required: Vladimirskaya, Lyubskaya, Shubinka.
Landing
Young plants are planted in the spring, and a place for them is prepared in the fall. Seedlings are placed in sunny areas on the south or southwest side near a wall or fence. Groundwater should be no closer than 1.8 m from the surface. Acidic soils must be deoxidized: with chalk or lime - 500 g per 1 square meter. This procedure is carried out in October. In April, the earth is dug up with the addition of organic compounds: compost or manure - 8-10 kg per 1 sq. m.
When planting, a distance of 3 m is left between the seedlings. It is better that there are 3-4 different varieties nearby, the planting scheme: 2.5x3 m.The pit is made 80 cm in diameter, 60 cm deep. Drainage is poured at the bottom, garden soil with the addition of ash and compost. They are planted in the same way as all cherry trees. After planting, 10 liters of water are watered, the trunk circle is mulched. For the winter, a young tree is covered with agromaterial.
Growing and care
The robin belongs to the unpretentious varieties. During flowering and fruiting, she needs abundant watering. About 3 buckets are poured under the tree. In the heat, they water it more often, but do not allow excessive waterlogging. In autumn, at the end of September, during the water-charging irrigation, 10 buckets of water are used for adult cherries.
They are fed with organic and mineral fertilizers. In the spring, when the buds appear with urea or ammonium nitrate, you can also use rotted manure or chicken droppings. Manure is introduced into the area of the trunk circle of 4-5 kg per 1 sq. M. Chicken droppings are dissolved in water in a ratio: 1: 15, watered with 0.5 buckets per 1 sq. M. m. In the summer, fertilize with potassium-phosphorus compounds. In autumn, when digging, wood ash is introduced - 1 kg per 1 sq. m. Every 5 years, liming of the soil is carried out at a distance of 1.5 m from the trunk.
The tree must be cut regularly: to form a crown, remove diseased, weak and unnecessary branches. The plant is formed in a non-tiered way. In young trees, about 10 frame branches are laid for 3-4 seasons at a distance of 15 cm from each other, they should grow in the direction from the center of the crown.
Disease and pest resistance
The robin is distinguished by good resistance to fungal diseases. Cherry has medium resistance to coccomycosis, weak to moniliosis. May be affected by perforated spotting. For prevention, every spring and autumn, they are treated with a 3% solution of Bordeaux liquid. If the disease begins to progress after flowering, spray with "Horus", "Abiga-Peak" or "Skor". For anthracnose, spray with the preparation "Polyarm" - 15 g per 10 liters. Several treatments can be carried out throughout the season. A 1% solution of copper sulfate helps against rust. The bark is prone to gum flow: the thickened resin is cleaned off, the crack is disinfected and sealed with garden varnish.
When attacked, aphids are sprayed with the compositions "Fufanon", "Bankol", and the remedy "Actellik" or "Rovikurt" helps from the cherry weevil.
Requirements for soil and climatic conditions
The plant has good winter hardiness, withstands temperatures down to -25 degrees. Drought tolerant. Prefers light loose sandy loam soils.
Review overview
According to the observation of gardeners, the cherry tree begins to bear fruit quickly enough - in the 4th year, it does not freeze in winter and the yield is very high. There are some opinions that the Malinovka cherry has a high quality of berries - by all 5 points.
