The first thing that attracts the attention of the Yubiley Novocherkassk variety is the original coloring of the berries, which combines two colors. High gastronomic qualities deserve special attention. The fruits of table grapes are recommended to be eaten in their natural form.
Breeding history
This table variety was bred by amateur breeder V.N.Krainov in collaboration with VNIIViV them. Ya.I. Potapenko. The new species is the result of a complex hybridization process of the Talisman and Kishmish varieties. The anniversary of Novocherkassk inherited from them high gastronomic qualities, as well as resistance to unfavorable weather conditions.
Description
The leaves of the plant are large and painted in a rich green color. This is a table variety of grapes, whose fruits are most often eaten fresh due to their pleasant taste.
Ripening period
This variety belongs to the early maturing varieties. The period of full ripening of fruits is from 110 to 120 days from the moment the first buds swell (this happens in early spring). In some regions, this period is up to 95-100 days. The harvest can be obtained in early or mid-August. It all depends on the region of cultivation and weather conditions.
Bunches
The bunches of this variety have a pronounced conical shape. Density - medium or high. The size and weight of the fruit is striking. The weight of one bunch varies from 800 to 2200 grams. Some specimens can reach 3 kilograms. No peeling is observed.
Berries
The berries attract attention with their original and beautiful color, which can be white-pink or green-pink. Sugar index - from 170 to 210 g / dm³. The acidity level is from 4.5 to 7.5 g / dm³. Each berry contains seeds (1-2 pieces). Skin density is medium. The pulp is juicy and fleshy at the same time. The shape is an elongated oval. The weight of one berry is 12 to 18 grams.
Taste
Experts mark the taste of grapes as harmonious and pleasant. At the same time, no pronounced shades are observed. The tasters gave an assessment of 8.5-9 points out of 10 possible.
Yield
This variety is high-yielding. If you take proper care of your garden culture, you can pick up to 20 kilograms of ripe berries from one bush. Ripe fruits can be left on the vine until the end of September. At the same time, their taste will remain unchanged, as well as the marketable appearance. From one hectare, you can get from 180 to 270 centners of fruit.
Growing features
The first thing you need to do when growing this species is to take into account its high frost resistance. Grapes are vigorous plants. The rate of fruitful shoots is 80%. At the same time, the fruiting factor is 1.3. And also the variety is not afraid of many common diseases and needs to be molded.
Landing
You can only plant a plant when the soil and air are warm enough. The optimum air temperature should be at least 15 degrees Celsius with a plus sign. Soil temperature - 10 degrees Celsius. The optimal time of the year for this crop is the first half of April. If you are going to graft cuttings to the stock, work is best done with the onset of autumn.
Pollination
During the flowering period, the bushes are covered with bisexual flowers. Thanks to this characteristic, the grapes are able to pollinate themselves.
Pruning
Due to the rapid growth of the variety, pruning should be done regularly. Otherwise, the harvest will be poor, and the bush will lose its shape. Experienced experts recommend carrying out work in early spring or late autumn, until sap flow begins in the plant. In order for the plant to fully develop and bear fruit regularly, but one bush needs to be placed from 22 to 24 shoots, no more. The total number of fruit buds should not exceed 45.
The vine is shortened once a year. The grapes are thinned out after the formation of the brushes. Only one brush is left on one shoot.
Watering
As soon as the topsoil dries up, you need to water it. It is necessary to maintain an optimal moisture level, without stagnation. If it rains in the region, then the irrigation procedure can be skipped.
As the bushes grow, they must be watered 2 times: before flowering and after the buds wither. Young grapes under one year old are watered once a week. So that the top layer of the earth does not dry out, you need to cover the area with mulch. You can use peat or humus, which is laid in a layer of 3 centimeters. Organic substances will not only help to retain the necessary moisture, but also nourish the root system.
Top dressing
You need to apply fertilizer 2-3 times a year. In autumn, experts advise using organic compounds, and with the arrival of spring, it is advisable to make a choice in favor of mineral dressings. In order for the grapes to bear fruit regularly, the plant needs to be fed with potassium and phosphorus. These are the main components that affect fruiting.
Frost resistance and the need for shelter
Despite the high resistance to frost, grapes of this variety are recommended to be insulated for the winter. Sudden changes in temperature and severe frosts negatively affect the condition of the bushes.
In the southern regions, the plant is protected with hay and burlap. They are used to wrap not only the vine, but also the woody part of the grapes. If the vineyards are located in northern latitudes, the vine must be removed from the support, pressed to the ground, and sprinkled with soil. Young plants must be covered, even if the winters in the region are mild and short.
Diseases and pests
The Yubiley Novocherkassk variety is practically not afraid of common diseases that are often found in vineyards. It also has increased resistance to mildew. Despite these characteristics, it is recommended to carry out preventive treatments. The work is performed 2-3 times per season. Simple handling will help protect grapes and crops.
It is necessary to use special targeted drugs designed specifically against specific ailments. It is best to process grapes before and after flowering. You can also spray the plant after the berry ovary.
If a grape is exposed to any disease or insect, this always affects its appearance.
Storage
The harvest of the table variety can be stored for a long time. At the same time, it will retain its gastronomic qualities and attractive appearance. It can be stored indoors for 10 days. If you move the grapes to a cellar or other cool place (at temperatures from 0 to 3 degrees), they will be stored for up to a month.
And also the berries perfectly tolerate transportation due to the dense skin. They do not crack and are not afraid of mechanical damage.
