The surprisingly beautiful pink table grape Vodograi is becoming more and more popular with gardeners. The variety is intended for fresh consumption and can serve as an independent decoration for a festive table. Due to their excellent presentation and amazing taste, the grapes do not linger on the shelves due to high demand.
Breeding history
Vodogray is another masterpiece of the breeder from Ukraine V.V. Zagorulko, who has many well-known patented varieties. Almost all of them have received high awards at international exhibitions. The originator received a hybrid as a result of crossing the varieties Arcadia and Luchisty raisins.
Geography of distribution
This grape is adapted for cultivation in the southern regions - in Ukraine, in the Central Black Earth region, as well as in the Volga region, in the south of Belarus.
Description
The hybrid variety is distinguished by a powerful vine - vigorous self-rooted bushes give an annual growth of great length. The young shoot has a glossy, light-colored crown of a pale green color, devoid of pubescence. The vine is covered with large and medium-sized, wide, five-lobed, medium dissected foliage. The outer side of the leaf is wrinkled-reticulate, the petiole is lyre-shaped, the petioles themselves are painted in light green shades with a pinkish tint at the base.
Ripening period
Vodogray grapes belong to medium early varieties - from the swelling of the buds to the moment of technical ripeness, the fruits will take 120-125 days. The required sum of active temperatures is 2550–2650 ° C.
Bunches
Bunches of conical shape of average density reach 600-800 grams on average, under ideal conditions they can grow up to one and a half kilograms. The berry rests on long, strong green comb.
Berries
Large papillary pink berries are covered with a thin skin, which is almost invisible while eating. Berry weight 9-10 grams, size 28-34 x 18-20 mm. The fruits are covered with a thin layer of pruin, the variety is almost not susceptible to peas, except with a strong overload.
Taste
Fleshy and juicy pulp with a pronounced nutmeg aroma has a pleasant, sweet and harmonious taste, clear juice, high sugar content 18–20 g / 100 ml and titratable acidity of 6–7 g.
Yield
The hybrid is capable of high yield and yields a large yield with good agricultural technology. The fruiting factor is 1.7.
Growing features
Planting Vodograi is no different from the standard one, the time for planting young seedlings is spring, during the summer they manage to build up a good root system. Autumn planting threatens young plants with freezing. For planting, choose sunny areas, protected from drafts and northern winds. The culture needs the attention of the gardener, it is then that it gives the most complete harvest.
Landing
The place for planting plants is prepared in advance. They prepare pits 80x80x80 cm, arrange a drainage layer, fill the earth with nutrients - humus, complex fertilizers, in addition, wood ash must be added. A young seedling is placed on a prepared mound, the roots are carefully spread and covered with soil to the stem. After that, the plantings are shed, the next day the soil is loosened and mulched to avoid cracking and drying out.
Pollination
The grapes bloom with bisexual flowers and do not need additional pollination measures.
Pruning
Each bunch of Vodogray hybrid has a significant weight, which cannot but affect the integrity of the vine. To preserve the shoots, formative autumn pruning is carried out, leaving 4-8 eyes on each branch.
Watering
The hybrid needs systematic watering, which is the key to the stable development of the plant and its fruiting. The grapes are spilled several times - in early spring, during the budding period, then during the fruit set, at the rate of 1 bucket per 1 bush.
Top dressing
An adult plant needs additional nutrition, since the introduced nutrients during planting are not enough for more than 3-4 seasons. After that, the vine is fed seasonally with mineral and organic fertilizers.
Frost resistance and the need for shelter
The hybrid has an average resistance to negative temperatures - it can withstand no more than –21 ° C. The vine needs shelter where it is such winters, it is also removed from the trellises, laid on the ground and covered with spruce branches, straw, agrofibre. In winter, it will be useful to warm up the snow from above.
Diseases and pests
The hybrid has resistance to fungal diseases by 3.5-4 points, to mildew by 4 points, susceptible to mildew by 4 points. To protect grapes from fungal diseases, mildew, oidium, as well as pests, gardeners and farmers use preventive treatments with insecticides and fungicides.
If a grape is exposed to any disease or insect, this always affects its appearance.
Storage
For temporary storage of the crop, special storage cellars are used with good ventilation and an appropriate temperature regime.
