Varieties of grapes with an appetizing nutmeg aroma are in great demand. They are great for making many types of wines. Thanks to the amazing aroma, gardeners turned a blind eye to certain disadvantages of the variety. To date, there are not many analogues that can compare with the Tason fruit crop.
Breeding history
Table grapes appeared thanks to the efforts of Russian breeders. To obtain a new variety, experts combined the varieties of Zoreva and Italy, combining the positive qualities of the parent plants. The work was carried out by VNIIViV them. Ya.I. Potapenko.
Description
The Tason grape is a vigorous plant. It can be identified by its powerful vine and developed root system. The foliage is colored deep green. Each leaf is divided into five blades. You may also notice a strong dissection. Due to the fast growth rate, the bushes need to be molded. Experts recommend the following forms for this variety:
- semi-fan;
- fan;
- multi-sleeved.
If the vineyards are located in the southern lane, you can give the bush the shape of an arch or opt for growing with a tall stem.
Ripening period
Tason belongs to early ripening varieties. From the start of the growing season to the collection of ripe fruits, it takes from 100 to 110 days. As a rule, the first crop is harvested as early as the 20th of the second summer month. Experts recommend leaving the berries on the bushes for a while - so the fruits will be sweeter, and the nutmeg flavor will open up as much as possible.
Bunches
Bunches of grapes are cylindrical-conical in shape. The density is medium. The average weight of one brush varies from 500 to 800 grams, but some specimens can reach more than 1 kilogram.
Berries
Ripe berries turn white and pink. You may also notice red streaks. The color of the fruit changes when exposed to sunlight. If the grapes grow in the shade, the berries remain white. Inside there are from 3 to 5 seeds, but due to their small size, they are practically not felt during the process of eating.
The percentage of sugar content is 190-210 g / dm³. Acidity - from 5 to 6 g / dm³. Thin skin also does not cause discomfort while eating. The flesh is crispy and firm enough. The berries are oval in shape. Weight - 6-7 grams. The fruits are large.
Taste
Professional tasters gave this variety a rating of 8.2 points. The variety has high gastronomic qualities, thanks to which its fruits are quickly sold out and are in great demand. The taste can be described as sweet, nutmeg and harmonious. Special notes of strawberry are also noticeable.
Yield
With proper and regular care, the variety boasts a rich and bountiful harvest. On each shoot, 2 brushes ripen. About 40 bunches are collected from one adult bush. The average crop weight is from 20 to 35 kilograms.
Growing features
This variety is recommended for cultivation in regions with short and mild summers. Due to its strong growth, the plant needs to be molded. Otherwise, the quality of the crop will suffer. The number of fruitful shoots is 55%. In this case, the fruiting factor is from 1.0 to 1.1.
Landing
Only healthy cuttings can be planted, without damage. Examine the roots carefully, they should be strong enough and intact. Planting can be done in fall or spring. It is recommended to prepare the landing site in advance. If gardeners decide to plant grapes in the spring, the soil is prepared in the fall.
Pollination
The plant is covered with bisexual flowers, thanks to which the bush does without additional pollination.
Pruning
The pruning procedure is performed to give the plant the desired shape, as well as free the grapes from excess foliage and vines. Excessive density does not allow the sun's rays to pass through, and ventilation is also disturbed. The immune system of grapes is weakened. With the arrival of spring, it is necessary to remove branches that are frozen or mechanically damaged. Green pruning is done in summer to normalize thickening.
The main pruning procedure is done in the fall, after the foliage has completely fallen off. Despite the fact that the variety is capable of withstanding a heavy load, it is recommended not to overload the bush. The optimal number of shoots is from 30 to 40.
Watering
If the weather is dry and hot, the first time after planting the plant is watered almost every day.
During the season, the plant is watered 4 times:
- after the end of flowering;
- in the process of fruit formation;
- after picking berries;
- the last time the grapes are watered before the shelter of the plant.
During dry periods, the frequency of watering can be increased. It is recommended to irrigate in the evening so that the sun's rays do not leave burns on the foliage.
Top dressing
Adult plants need to be fertilized periodically. During flowering and when forming bunches, experienced gardeners advise the use of organic matter. Compositions containing potassium are used before the grapes are sheltered for the winter. For foliar dressing, fertilizers with phosphorus, nitrogen and potassium are used.
Frost resistance and the need for shelter
The hybrid variety has good frost resistance, withstands cold snaps up to 22 degrees Celsius below zero. In a temperate climate, grapes feel comfortable and bear fruit remarkably.On the territory of Siberia and the central zone of Russia, the plant must be covered for the winter, since in these areas the temperature often drops below 22 degrees.
You can start the shelter process in the fall, after the foliage has completely fallen off. It is also recommended to prune and feed the plant. After that, the vine must be carefully removed, tied and laid on the ground.
Diseases and pests
This variety is not resistant to common fungal diseases. If you correctly carry out agricultural techniques and devote time to preventive treatment, you can reliably protect the plant from infections. Experts recommend using Topaz, Horus and Quadris compositions. The treatment process is often combined with the irrigation procedure.
The sweet and aromatic berries attract the attention of the birds. In this case, you can use special scarers, but they give a short-term effect. A dense synthetic mesh, which is a mechanical barrier, works best.
If a grape is exposed to any disease or insect, this always affects its appearance.
Storage
Berries can be left on the vine for up to 2 months. During this time, the fruits will not lose their taste. If the berries are ripe at the end of July, the bunches are often left hanging until early fall. This will give them a richer taste and aroma of nutmeg. The cut bunches are stored in the refrigerator or in a cool place for up to one month. In a suspended state, the fruits retain their presentation and gastronomic qualities much longer.
