Prima grapes (Pavlovsky E.G.)

Prima grapes can indeed "shine" in many vineyards. But only on condition of thoughtful cultivation. This is why it is useful for all breeders to read its basic overview.

This variety was created thanks to the efforts of E.G. Pavlovsky, who also distinguished himself with other breeding achievements. To obtain a hybrid, Victoria and Super-Extra were crossed. The plant was originally intended as a table variety.

Prima Pavlovsky is a vigorous, active grape. Accordingly, it is necessary to build care for him. The plant is visually beautiful and immediately attracts the attention of observers. Ripening of the vine is quite efficient. However, the affinity with Victoria turns into a susceptibility to cracking of the berries.

The descriptions note:

• attractive consumer qualities;

• no risk of insect attacks, usually damaging grapes;

• improved characteristics of the culture in comparison with predecessors;

• the still insufficient popularity of this variety.

The variety belongs to a very early group. Under normal conditions, the crop will ripen 110 days after bud formation. Only a sharply unfavorable situation can prevent this.

Prima's brushes are loose. Their weight varies from 0.5 to 1 kg. Despite such a wide spread, there is no danger of peas. Therefore, from this side, the plant fully meets the needs of farmers and winegrowers.

Initially, the fruits of this variety are pink-red in color. When fully ripe, they will darken a little, but they will not lose their redness. The shape of the grape resembles an oval. The average weight of one berry is from 8 to 10 g.

By taste, Prima Pavlovsky belongs to the nutmeg group. But they are light and unobtrusive, which many people even like. The fleshy pulp is distinguished by expressive juiciness. The sugar content reaches 185 g per 1 cubic meter. dm. The acidity is very low - only 6 g per 1 dm3.

There is no information on the number of fruits in the available publications. However, the weight of the bunches inspires positive expectations. Much will depend on weather conditions.

The ripening of the bunches can be expected in 90-110 days. The variety is not very suitable for the southern regions. It is preferable to grow it in the middle lane and central part of Russia. It is there that early frost-resistant grapes most fully reveal their capabilities.

There are no special recommendations for planting this particular variety. You can start from the general approach to especially early plants:

• a warm, well-lit area is preferable;

• even weak drafts are harmful;

• it is useful to plant a crop near the southern walls of houses;

• the choice of the shape of the bush and other nuances is determined by the characteristics of the site;

• light sandy soil allows you to accelerate the harvest;

• the more nutrients in the earth, the better;

• it is necessary to take up work only after the firm end of return frosts.

The variety forms bisexual flowers. Therefore, there is simply no special need for artificial pollination. It occurs only during long drizzling rains that interfere with the normal distribution of pollen.

It is necessary to normalize Prima. Medium or even short cut is recommended. When choosing it, they are guided by the state of the bush and their intentions. Important: secateurs should be disinfected when moving between bushes.

Preservation of basic properties is guaranteed at temperatures up to -24 degrees. Therefore, on the Azov and Black Sea coasts in an ordinary winter, it is quite possible to do without shelter. However, already in the middle lane it is absolutely necessary.

The culture tolerates fungal diseases. Resistance to mildew and powdery mildew is equally estimated at 1 point, and resistance to powdery mildew is also declared. The disadvantage is the high probability of deformation by wasps. Therefore, the fight against them and their nests must go on relentlessly. An important place is occupied by both the destruction of nests and the hanging of the bunches themselves with bags.

There is no special information on the storage of Prima Pavlovsky grapes. However, the high sugar content allows you to say for sure: you cannot count on saving the harvest outside the refrigerator. It is possible to preserve it for any length of time only after processing. In extreme cases, the crop is placed in a cellar.
