One of the best varieties, due to its unpretentiousness and versatility, is considered a hybrid of the Memory of Negrul. The high-yielding vine gives fruits with excellent keeping quality, transportability, beautiful appearance, thanks to which it is very popular among gardeners and professional winegrowers.
Breeding history
The hybrid variety Pamyati Negrulya was bred by the Vierul Scientific and Production Association of Moldova. A whole group of breeders worked on its appearance. The cultivars Korna nyagra and Datie de Saint-Valier were chosen as parent varieties. As a result of many years of variety testing, the new hybrid in Memory of Negrul was registered as a variety in the Republic of Moldova in 2015. Unfortunately, this grape was not included in the Russian state register, although its seedlings are in great demand in our country.
Geography of distribution
A hybrid of the Memory of Negrul in our country is cultivated in the southern regions, in the middle zone, in the Urals and in South-West Siberia.
Description
The grape has strong, tall bushes, reaching 3 meters in height, with fruiting shoots, accounting for 3⁄4 of the total. Shoots are covered with light green five-lobed foliage, with a slight pubescence on the seamy side. The variety in Memory of Negrul is intended for fresh consumption, as well as for canning - jams, compotes, liqueurs, juices. The variety is used in wineries for blending red semi-sweet wines.
Ripening period
The hybrid form refers to varieties of medium ripening - from the moment of bud formation to the achievement of technical ripeness, it takes about 145-160 days. The required amount of active temperatures is 2900, harvesting begins in mid-September, although in the southern latitudes the dates may shift to a shorter side.
Bunches
Cylindro-conical medium-friable brushes in most cases have a regular shape or with lateral branches (wings). The declared weight is 320 g, the average size is 20x12 cm, but this is not the limit - under ideal conditions, the variety is capable of "giving out" much larger sizes.
Berries
Large pointed black fruits with seeds appear purple due to the dense bloom of pruin. The average size is 3 by 2 cm, weight is 5-7 g. The juicy fleshy pulp is covered with a dense crispy skin and is almost not felt during the meal. Sugar content 143 g / dm3.
Taste
The tasting grade is 8.5 points, the taste is harmonious, sweet, with a pleasant sourness.
Yield
With proper care and compliance with agrotechnical requirements, up to 45-50 kg are harvested from one bush. On an industrial scale, this is an average of 105 centners per hectare.
Growing features
Hybrid in Memory of Negrul is one of the most spectacular dining varieties, with its help they decorate gazebos and terraces, combining business with pleasure. Consistently high yields are obtained thanks to properly organized planting and care.
Landing
Saplings are planted in open ground in southern regions in spring and autumn, in more temperate climates in spring. For planting, black earth or loam is chosen, the soil should be light and breathable, with no proximity to groundwater. The location is on the south side, against a wall, a blank fence, providing protection from drafts and cold winds.
Pits are dug 80 cm deep and 100 cm in diameter, a drainage layer of broken brick or gravel is laid on the bottom. Part of the soil extracted from the pit is enriched with superphosphate, potassium chloride, humus, compost. Then the seedling is placed in the center of the pit, the roots are straightened and covered with the remaining soil, leaving the root collar open. After that, the planting is abundantly shed, and after a few days the soil is loosened and mulched. It should be remembered that fragile trunks must be immediately tied to the support.
Pollination
The hybrid blooms with male and female flowers, so it does not need additional pollination.
Pruning
Bushes need sanitary pruning in spring and autumn. During the spring procedure, a long pruning is carried out, leaving from 8 to 14 eyes, or short, 3-4 eyes. The recommended load on the bush is 40-50 eyes and about 20 shoots. It is necessary to remove stepchildren, unripe shoots. The recommended formation in warm climates is a two-armed cordon on a trunk. In cold zones, they are decorated with obliquely directed sleeves without a stem.
Watering
Despite its drought tolerance, the hybrid needs regular three- or four-time watering per season:
in early spring and after shelter;
when budding;
while pouring berries;
in the fall, after harvest.
It should be remembered that despite the weather conditions, all watering is stopped a month before the harvest.
Top dressing
Adult bushes need regular fertilizing with mineral and organic fertilizers. They are carried out according to generally accepted standards.
Frost resistance and the need for shelter
Vigorous plants need shelter in cold regions, despite good frost resistance at –25ºC. Warming involves standard measures - after pruning, the shoots are removed from the supports, tied, bent to the ground and covered with agrofibre, hay, spruce branches, dry leaves.
Diseases and pests
Moldovan has strong immunity against most fungal diseases, tolerance to phylloxera. As a preventive measure, they are treated with fungicides or a solution of copper sulfate. To protect against pests, insecticidal preparations are used; there is a special netting from birds that protects the grape bushes.
Wasps are fought by destroying nests, using sweet and sticky traps soaked in insecticides.A humane but laborious way is to pack each brush in a mesh bag, this will prevent insects from getting close to the berries.
If the grapes are exposed to any disease or insect, this is always reflected in its appearance.
Storage
The hybrid is well stored for 130 days in specially equipped chambers with a set temperature regime from 0 to + 5 ° C and a corresponding humidity of 90%.
Review overview
Careful monitoring of the reviews of gardeners and winegrowers showed that the majority are happy to note the stability of high yields, the decorative effect of the berry due to its unusual shape. As a disadvantage, they indicate a certain tendency of the Pamyati Negrul variety to cracking during heavy rains.
