Early hope - a relatively young grape variety. However, he has already managed to fall in love with gardeners who are just beginning to take an interest in growing grapes. The variety is not too demanding, so it is quite possible to choose it as the first variety for cultivation.
Breeding history
The Nadezhda early variety was bred in Ukraine thanks to the efforts of the breeder A.A. Golub. The scientist's task was to create a variety that would grow in almost any conditions. And with this purpose the breeder has coped. For crossing, ZOS-1 and Nadezhda Azos were taken. The parent trees gave the best characteristics, thanks to which Nadezhda early quickly became popular.
Description
Early Hope is a hybrid grape form. The bushes are large, vigorous, powerful. Shoots are green-brown, often have a reddish tint. The leaves are not too large, rather medium, have a bright and juicy green color. The leaf plate is round in shape, there is a dissection. The stalks are distinguished by their increased strength, length, and also a light green tint.
Ripening period
The berries of Early Hope ripen quickly - in just 95-100 days. That is why the variety is classified as very early. By the beginning of August, berries are already hanging on the bushes, but you should not rush to pick them. After waiting a few more days, you can achieve a higher sugar content in the fruit.
Bunches
Early Hope has conical winged clusters. By density, they are moderately loose, and by weight they are 700-1000 g. There is no peat.
Berries
The appearance of the berries of Early Hope can please even a sophisticated gardener. Large clusters are densely packed with dark blue fruits with a characteristic white-lunar bloom. The skin is medium in density, absolutely not felt when eaten. The berries are oval, slightly elongated. Their size is 32x24 mm and weighs 14 grams.
Taste
The fruits of Early Hope have a pleasant and simple harmonious taste. The aftertaste leaves a light fruity aroma.
Yield
Nadezhda early belongs to high-yielding varieties. The plant is so prolific that gardeners constantly have to carry out rationing of the bush.
Growing features
Early hope prefers to grow in well-lit areas. It can be planted both in the middle of the site and from the edge, for example, near a fence. Any soil can be taken, except for marshy: it will not grow on such grapes.
As for the care, the gardener will expect standard agrotechnical measures, which will necessarily include watering, fertilizing, weeding and much more. The first three weeks are most important: if during this period the variety is provided with decent care, it will definitely take root.
Landing
Experts advise planting early hope in the spring. The pit will need a rather large one - about 80x80x80 cm. The bottom of the hole is fertilized with standard dressings for planting grapes. By the way, it is best to prepare the pit in the fall. After planting, the grapes must be watered and mulched. The seedlings are tied up, a polyethylene shelter can be made from above, which will need to be removed after 2 weeks.
Pollination
Nadezhda early has flowers of both types. There is no need for gardeners to purchase pollinators.
Pruning
This is the most important point of care for this variety. Due to the heavy bunches and the large amount of harvest, the vine needs to be rationed. It is worth trimming from 6 to 8 eyes. In this case, 35 eyes will remain on the bush itself. In addition, dried, dead, abnormally growing branches must be removed annually.
Watering
Watering is very important for young seedlings. It is necessary that the water penetrates into the ground by about 40 cm. A newly planted vine is watered twice a week, using a bucket of warm, settled water on the bush. If it is very hot outside, the frequency is increased up to 3 times a week, while the water should be 1.5-2 times more.
Top dressing
Nadezhda early grapes can be fed by root and foliar methods. The first option is more common. At a distance of half a meter from the vine, a hole of 30 centimeters is dug, and top dressing is added there.
Fertilizers will be standard for grapes, but it should be noted that the variety is not very fond of nitrogen, so it is better to use it in minimal quantities.
Frost resistance and the need for shelter
The variety can withstand frosts down to -20 degrees. If the temperature drops below, an agrofiber shelter will be required. The trunk circle is covered with mulch.
Diseases and pests
Early Hope is a very resistant variety that is almost never affected by a fungus. Wasps also show no interest in fruits. To completely protect the culture, it will be enough to carry out planned preventive treatments and provide proper care.
If a grape is exposed to any disease or insect, this always affects its appearance.
Storage
The variety belongs to the varieties with high keeping quality. Grapes have a strong skin, so they can lie in the cellar for a long time.Shipping is not a problem, making the variety popular when grown for sale.
