Black grapes for table use Nadezhda AZOS is an unpretentious variety available for beginners and experienced winegrowers. The popular hybrid is grown on private plots and on an industrial scale.
Breeding history
The variety was bred at the Anapa zonal experimental station of viticulture and winemaking, which gave the name to the bred form. The hybrid is recognized as one of the best results of numerous achievements of local breeders. The popular varieties Moldova and Cardinal were taken as a basis. Nadezhda AZOS entered variety testing in 1966, entered the State Register of Breeding Achievements of the Russian Federation in 1998.
Geography of distribution
The variety is zoned for the North Caucasus region - Stavropol and Krasnodar Territories, Crimea, Adygea, Kabardino-Balkaria, Ingushetia. Gardeners of central Russia, the Urals, Trans-Urals, Siberia and Primorye are familiar with him.
Description
Vigorous bushes give a powerful, up to 3.5 meters long, central vine and young green shoots with 3 inflorescences. Subsequently, large clusters are formed from them. Shoots are covered with large five-lobed leaves of a dark green color with arachnoid purl pubescence. Fruits of Hope contain vitamins, antioxidants, are used as a prophylactic agent for cardiovascular and cancer diseases, strengthen the immune system and the state of the respiratory system. The variety is characterized by high marketability and good transportability, which allows it to be successfully grown for sale and sold in remote areas. It is used for canning - juices, compotes, preserves, jams, and also used fresh.
Ripening period
Nadezhda AZOS belongs to medium early varieties, the approximate ripening period is 120-130 days.
Bunches
Large, conical or branched bunches, each weighing 400-600 grams, have an average density, sometimes friable. They are located on long, thick stalks.
Berries
Elongated oval blue berries weighing 6-8 grams are covered with a thin, dense, but edible skin. The pulp is fleshy, light pink, juicy and crunchy. Small seeds in the amount of 2-3 pieces are not found in all berries. The sugar content is 150-170, and the acidity is 7-8 g / dm³. Fruit size 28 by 24 mm.
Taste
Nadezhda AZOS has a simple sweet taste with a slight sourness.
Yield
The hybrid belongs to high-yielding varieties, on average, the indicators are kept in the region of 160 kg / ha.
Growing features
Getting a stable harvest from a healthy vine depends not only on the correct timely planting, but also on compliance with agrotechnical rules.
Landing
For planting, they choose the standard terms for the region: in the southern regions in spring-autumn, in cold regions, seedlings are planted in the spring. In any case, the earth should be warmed up to +14.15 degrees.
Places are chosen sunny (this can be a southern slope, near a wall or a blank fence), protected from winds and drafts. Standard pits are dug - 80x80x80 cm, the distance between powerful bushes is not less than one and a half meters, between rows 2 meters. The plant does not like stagnant moisture, so there should be no groundwater nearby. If they still exist, and there are no other places for planting, then drainage grooves are dug.
A drainage layer is poured at the bottom of the pit, the soil is enriched with a mineral-organic mixture, the trunks are loosened 2 days after watering the planted seedling and covered with a layer of mulch. This technique does not allow the topsoil to dry out quickly, crack, and prevents weeds from appearing.
Pollination
The hybrid has bisexual flowering and self-pollinates well. It does not need additional self-pollination.
Pruning
The procedure is necessary for both young plants and mature bushes. The fruiting and health of the vine depends on this. Winegrowers recommend pruning in the fall after the foliage has fallen. The best formation in a mild climate for Nadezhda AZOS is a one-shoulder cordon on a trunk. The standard height in this case is 1.1-1.2 m. The tendency of the bushes to overload allows you to leave up to 25 shoots, with 6-8 eyes. Shorter pruning - 2-4 buds give larger brushes. The recommended number of inflorescences on the shoot is 1.6.
Watering
Nadezhda AZOS, like most of the varieties, does not like excess moisture, therefore, it does not need additional watering, with the exception of dry periods. Irrigation rate is:
after being freed from the winter shelter;
before flowering;
after the end of flowering;
time of berry pouring.
To activate the vegetative process, the first watering is more abundant - up to 200 liters. Subsequent - 15-20 liters under the bush.
Top dressing
Correct and complete soil enrichment during planting makes it possible to do without additional nutrient input for 2 years. Adult powerful bushes are too actively depleting the soil, so you cannot do without additional annual fertilizing. When introducing foliar nutrition, that is, by spraying, it must be remembered that the rays of the sun refracted in a drop of moisture, as in a lens, can burn the leaves. Fertilizers are diluted with water in large quantities and sprayed on plants in the late afternoon, when the sun is on the horizon.
Frost resistance and the need for shelter
Hybrid grapes Nadezhda AZOS can withstand negative temperatures down to -22 degrees and in a warm climate does not need shelter for the winter. However, in cold regions, the bushes will die without additional protection. The ideal option would be to lay the vines in pre-dug trenches. Boards, straw, spruce branches are preliminarily laid on the bottom.Above the laid vine, arcs are installed according to the greenhouse principle, stretch the film and sprinkle it with earth. It is important that the polyethylene does not come into contact with the shoots. In the spring, the protection is removed after the snow melts. It is advisable to do this on a cloudy day or in the evening to prevent sunburn. In temperate climates, a layer of straw over the laid vine is sufficient.
Diseases and pests
The hybrid variety quite successfully resists many diseases:
mildew - 2 points;
gray rot - 2 points;
fungal infections - 2.5-3 points.
It is important to use preventive, prophylactic methods - spraying plants with fungicides or copper sulfate. Leaves can be attacked by scale insects and grape mites, in which case insecticides are needed.
Table of common grape diseases.
If a grape is exposed to any disease or insect, this always affects its appearance.
Storage
Harvesting begins in late August - early September, while the fruits must be dry, otherwise the berry quickly deteriorates. Storage in refrigerated chambers with a temperature range of -1 to +2 degrees and a humidity of 90–95% allows you to store brushes for up to 2 weeks. Some gardeners manage to preserve fruits much longer, up to the New Year holidays, but these are private farms in which grapes are not grown on an industrial scale.
Review overview
Growers appreciate the hybrid variety Nadezhda AZOS for its unpretentiousness and resistance to diseases, for its high yield and good marketability. Many people note an increase in the size of the brushes as the bush matures. An important plus in the eyes of gardeners is the absence of peas and the strength of the berry, which is not prone to cracking.
