Grapes of this variety are common in our latitudes due to their characteristics. Moscow Sustainable is unpretentious in care, even a novice gardener can cope with its cultivation.
Breeding history
The parents of this grape variety are Alpha and a hybrid of Amur with Madeleine Angevin. For the first time it was brought out by the Latvian Skuin KP at the Moscow fruit station. Another name for this species is Skuinya 675.
Geography of distribution
Loves the southern slopes for growth. But it takes root well in the northern regions of the country. Very frost-resistant and adapted to cold climates. It also grows in America, for example, in the state of Minnesota, where good white wine is prepared from it on an industrial scale. In our country, it is used only in home winemaking.
Description
Suitable for growing in various climates. Has a fairly high development of the root and supra-root systems. Its shoots have medium to large five-lobed leaves with a weak dissection of a dark green color. Possesses intensive development and foliage density.
Ripening period
Moscow Resistant grapes have an early-average ripening period - from 130 to 135 days from the appearance of the ovary to harvest. With proper care, the first berries can be harvested in early August.
Bunches
The bunches are medium and small, of medium density, one might even say loose. Weight varies from 50 to 70 g. They have a conical shape with tapering downward.
Berries
Fruits are small, round, amber in color. The weight of one berry is very small.
Taste
Sufficiently sweet, slightly sour. Sugar content - 220-230 g / dm3 (22-23%). With a complex nutmeg-pineapple aroma.
Yield
Especially high yield - up to 90% of fruitful shoots. On each of these shoots, about 2-3 clusters of berries are formed. There are about 70-120 eyes per bush.
Growing features
The main difference from many other varieties is the ease of growing this type of grape. And also in high yields, despite the simplicity of care and climatic conditions.
When buying this plant for breeding, you need to pay attention to the root system, the number of eyes and the presence of damage to the seedling.
Landing
For planting this variety, very sunny areas are chosen for better ripening of the crop. Although this species is suitable for northern latitudes, it loves the sun, like all grape varieties. Adequate light is also required during the day. Should not be planted behind other bushes, as he does not like shade. The trench planting method is best suited.
Pollination
Able to self-pollinate due to the presence of bisexual flowers.
Pruning
To get a high-quality large harvest, it is required to carry out timely pruning and formation of a bush. But with different shaping it bears fruit quite well, and its vines can reach a length of 2-2.5 m. The required load for one bush is 70-120 eyes.
Many gardeners like medium to short pruning, which keeps the bushes from overgrowing. Pruning is carried out in spring and autumn, sometimes even in summer. In the spring, shoots and vines that have died and dried up over the winter are removed. And in the fall, they mold and remove old side vines that do not yield a crop.
Watering
Good for abundant watering. But it also tolerates rather dry periods with resistance, since its root system is located deep enough.
After planting for 3 weeks, the plant is watered every 3 days with 11-14 liters of water. Then you need to water once every 2 weeks with 20-30 liters of water. Watering is stopped at the beginning of the ripening of the berries in order to prevent cracking of the fruits.
Watering is best done in the evening. It is advisable to mulch the soil surface after that.
Top dressing
Different stages of grape development require different fertilizers. After bud break, the plant is fed with a solution of chicken manure diluted in water (concentration 1 to 12). 7 liters per 1 bush. During flowering, the grapes should be fed with complex additives, for example, "Vympel" (at the rate of 13 ml per 10 liters of water), which will ensure proper nutrition for the plant. And when the bunches form, fertilize with a mullein solution at the rate of 1 to 12 liters of water, 8 liters of fertilizing per bush.
Frost resistance and the need for shelter
The variety was bred specifically for cultivation in our middle lane. Therefore, it tolerates cold very well even without special shelter. Resistant to frost, suitable for growing in northern latitudes, which does not affect the quality of the crop. This variety will withstand even temperatures of -28 ° C.
Diseases and pests
Most southern grape varieties are susceptible to diseases such as mildew. This variety has good resistance to this disease - 3.5 points on a 5-point scale, which gives it a good advantage over other varieties.
Possesses good resistance to gray mold and powdery mildew. But it can be affected by some other fungal diseases. To prevent this from happening, it is required to carry out prophylaxis and spray the bushes with drugs such as Horus.
The most dangerous pest for Moscow Resistant Grapes is the spider mite. It can be found by the bulge on the leaf, as when it develops, it damages the leaf structure. After detecting this pest, the plant is treated with Omite or Apollo.
If the grapes are exposed to any disease or insect, this is always reflected in its appearance.
Storage
It keeps very well, does not crack and does not deteriorate during long-term transportation, which makes it a profitable variety for growing for sale. Unpretentious, therefore, it is quite common in home gardening.
