The Minsk Pink grape definitely deserves attention among consumers. Experts emphasize that it surpasses many other varieties in its practical properties. This variety was obtained on the basis of the well-known Metallichesky variety, but differs significantly from it.
Breeding history
The variety Minsky Pink was developed in the early 1950s by employees of the Minsk Institute of Biology. Well-known breeders of that time - Govorukhina, Savchenko and Rybakova - took part in the experiment. The program consisted of pollination with pollen of hybrid varieties of different seedlings of the Metallichesky variety, which had already proven itself well. As a result, it was possible to significantly improve the quality of the grapes. Its resistance to cold increased markedly.
Another positive effect of the experiment was an increase in resistance to fungal diseases. Goals such as improving taste and aroma have also been achieved. Minsk Pink Grapes were officially registered in 2005. In the current register of varieties, it is listed under the name Minsk hybrid. It's time to get to know him in more detail.
Geography of distribution
This plant is suitable for northern areas. It can be safely used in the middle lane. Frost resistance is sufficient for:
Novgorod region;
Leningrad region;
the Ural and Siberian regions.
Description
Ripening period
Minsk Pink is a pronounced early variety. Between the beginning of the growing season and the final ripening of the fruits, 105-110 days normally pass. In the conditions of the Belarusian climate, the berries have time to ripen by the beginning of autumn.
Bunches
They are cylindrical in shape. Fruits in clusters are collected tightly or very tightly. The mass of a bunch can reach an average of 258 g.
Berries
The grapes of Minsk Pink are colored in a dark pink tone. Sugar content per 1 cu. dm is from 220 to 250 g. Experts note the characteristic Labrusk taste. The flesh of the grapes is juicy, but they have a slimy taste. The berry is medium in size and weighing an average of 2.8 g, covered with a thin soft skin.
Taste
Many descriptions emphasize the ordinariness, the familiarity of the taste of this culture. And also note the strawberry aftertaste. It is helpful to pay attention to the high sugar content. The product is suitable for producing fresh juices. Excellent taste is harmoniously combined with a gorgeous aroma.
Yield
The variety belongs to the high-yielding group. 1 bush usually has at least 8 kg of fruit. Under favorable conditions, this figure reaches 12 kg. There are 3-4 kg per 1 vine. Exceeding this level is impractical and threatens to damage the plant.
Growing features
Landing
Any soil is suitable for Minsky Pink. At the same time, black soil has long been recognized as the best option. It is recommended to saturate the depleted soil with organic fertilizers before planting. Resistance to weather conditions makes the variety suitable for both autumn and spring planting. It is recommended to choose moderately damp ground, areas where there are no cold penetrating drafts.
Pollination
Since the flowers of the grapes are bisexual, there is no need to worry about pollinators. In cold rainy weather, you need to pollinate the bushes yourself. Can be pollinated with pollen of other varieties.
Pruning
Sanitary and formative pruning is important. Excess shoots are removed systematically. On each branch, you need to leave 5-7 eyes. Damage to the trunks must be disinfected in any case. It is supposed to cut out small and irregularly ripening clusters.
Frost resistance and the need for shelter
The plant can withstand cold temperatures down to -30 degrees. Under normal conditions, shelter is almost unnecessary. But it is still advisable to use it in the coldest regions. No powder is required. But spunbond is needed.
Diseases and pests
The variety is resistant to mildew. But he may suffer from the spread of gray mold. Preventive treatments should be carried out 3 times during the season. Average resistance to powdery mildew is characteristic. No pests were found.
If a grape is exposed to any disease or insect, this always affects its appearance.
Storage
Ripe fruits cannot be stored for more than 1 month. At the same time, their presence on the bush or gathering does not play a role. The best technique is to freeze or roll the grapes after harvest, with the anticipation of the release of juice. Connoisseurs recommend storage in slotted wooden or plastic crates. Tank ventilation is very important.
