Among the aromatic, large grape varieties, one of the most popular is Krasotka. To grow a rich harvest of berries, it is worth learning in more detail about some of the characteristics of the variety.
Breeding history
The described grape variety was bred by Evgeny Georgievich Pavlovsky. The breeder crossed the Victoria variety and a mixture of pollen from the European-Amur forms. This is the first generation of amateur breeding. Pavlovsky's experiment was carried out with the support of the YI Potapenko VNIIViV. Success was achieved in 2004. All the properties of grapes have not yet been studied, since not much time has passed since the appearance of Beauty.
Geography of distribution
It should be said that the described grape variety has not yet been zoned. There is no exact data on whether it will take root well in the northern part of the country, but in the south it is successfully grown and a rich harvest is obtained. You can meet Beauty both in the Crimea and the southern regions of Russia, as well as in Moldova and Belarus.
Description
The Krasotka grape is famous not only for its attractive appearance, but also for its stable harvest and amazing aroma. If you eat the berry, it will leave a refreshing taste in your mouth. Such a variety was popularly called "Victoria".
The bush has a powerful root system. The only drawback is the cracking of the berries. But this happens only under conditions of high humidity. Grape Beauty belongs to the table species.
Ripening period
The grapes ripen in 110-120 days. This variety is considered to be very early.
Bunches
The plant produces conical clusters. The density is average. Each brush weighs from 500 to 600 grams.
Berries
The berries are large enough, the size of each is about 3 cm. The fruits are elongated, oval or ovoid, with a necessarily pointed tip. Such a bunch will certainly become a decoration of any festive table. The color of the berries is intensely pink, but uneven - at the sharp end it becomes close to purple.
The pulp of the berries is easy to chew, it is fleshy and juicy. Each berry has two seeds, they are very small, so you can eat grapes with them. What is remarkable about the Krasotka variety is that the skin of the berries is thin. The weight of one berry can reach 6-7 grams.
Taste
Berries are valued for their harmonious vanilla flavor with a slight sourness.
Yield
When planting, the percentage of fruitful shoots from each bush is 80-90.
Growing features
When the grapes are ripe, wasps can batter them, as they also like to feast on berries. This is why most growers cover the clusters with gauze.
If we talk about the quality of care, then the variety does not need much of it. It is imperative to mulch the soil, water the plant regularly, and cut it off.
Landing
Professionals advise planting seedlings in early spring. Before that, the soil must be dug up and fertilized. Ideal for primary feeding:
- manure;
- humus;
- complex industrial fertilizer.
Cuttings are planted for drainage. The root system should be 50 centimeters above the ground. The plant is sprinkled with earth and must be tied to a trellis. Grapes grow poorly without support.
After planting, 2-3 buckets of water are poured under each bush. At the final stage, the soil around is mulched. You can use agrofibre or straw for this. A distance of one and a half meters is kept between the bushes.
The soil should be of medium acidity. Chernozem or forest soil is ideal. Another of the conditions for a large harvest is the occurrence of groundwater. In the case of the described variety, it must be at least 1.5 meters.
Pollination
It is necessary to take a responsible approach to the pollination of the Beauty. If the gardener misses this moment, then the berries are small, and the yield is low.
Pruning
Quite long shoots are formed on the bushes of grapes, which require mandatory pruning. In the first year, professionals advise to remove only the ends on the vine. Immediately after the foliage falls, a second pruning procedure is carried out. As a result of this treatment, no more than 6-8 buds should remain.
Plants that have been in the ground for more than 2 years are pruned more intensively. All weak shoots are removed and no more than 4 are left. Do not shorten the vine too much, otherwise the yield may suffer.
Watering
If the grapes do not receive the required amount of moisture, then one should not wait for a rich harvest. At the same time, the Krasotka variety requires special watering. Water enters the roots through additionally made holes, they are formed at a distance of 300 mm from the roots. If there is water constantly under the bush, the roots will rot.
In the first year after planting, watering is carried out no more than 1 time per week. It is best to do this after sunset. Watering should be especially careful during the flowering period.
Top dressing
In the first year, it is advised to refrain from feeding, since those that were laid during planting are enough for this period. By the next year, namely in the spring, nitrogen-containing substances are used. You can add 40 grams of superphosphate and 10 grams less potassium.
As soon as flowers have appeared on the vine, it is time to use a growth stimulant. For this, Gibberellin is ideal. The plant is sprayed with the drug.
Further, the application of top dressing will be required only at the moment the ovaries appear on the vine. Fertilizers are applied at the root.
Frost resistance and the need for shelter
The Krasotka variety is frost-resistant up to -22 ° С. There is a need to normalize the variety. She does not need shelter in winter.
Diseases and pests
Like any plant, Krasotka grapes can infect fungal infections and pests.
If red spots appear on the surface of the leaves, and a white bloom appears below, then this is mildew. This fungus loves moisture. To get rid of it, you need to use fungicides.
Most disease problems can be avoided by pretreating the plant with one of the drugs. A good result is given by 3 treatments for the whole season. The first is carried out before flowering, the second - before the ovaries appear and the third - until the fruits are fully ripe. A solution of regular baking soda works well.
If a grape is exposed to any disease or insect, this always affects its appearance.
Storage
The fruits perfectly withstand transportation and can lie on the counter for a long time without losing their commercial quality.
