The table variety Krasa Nikopol has many positive qualities, thanks to which it is popular among many gardeners.
Breeding history
This popular variety was bred by an amateur breeder Alexei Stepanovich Sidun, a native of Nikopol. The variety appeared by crossing the varieties of Pearl Saba and Rish Baba Black.
Description
The described variety has a high growth rate. The vine produces both tall and medium bushes. Many inflorescences are formed on the shoot.
Ripening period
This variety has a very early ripening period, which is its undoubted advantage over other grape varieties. The bunches ripen for about 105 days, and the first fruits can be tasted in the last third of July. All fruits ripen at the same time.
Bunches
The bunches have an average density and conical shape, they are loose and weigh about 400-600 g. There are quite a few of them, they are large and symmetrical, they do not have peas. Brushes are able to maintain excellent taste and attractive presentation for a long time, they tolerate transportation well.
Berries
Fruits are oval, dark pink in color, with a thin skin and dense, juicy and crunchy pulp. The berries weigh on average 4-5 g.
Taste
Grapes have a harmonious, balanced taste. The sugar content is quite pronounced, while the sourness is light and unobtrusive.
Yield
The variety is fruitful, its fertility will be above average (the crop can be harvested from 60-70 percent of all shoots)
Growing features
Despite the fact that the seedlings take root well, all the necessary conditions should be created for this. With correct planting, a young plant will be able to take root and develop, subsequently giving a rich harvest.
Landing
It is important to thoroughly prepare the soil before planting the plant. Experts advise to fertilize the soil with potassium salt. The work is carried out several months before the disembarkation process. Also, the site can be enriched with a special substrate. To do this, mix lime, manure and peat. This will help make the soil nutritious and rid it of harmful elements.
At the bottom of the bed (pit) 5-10 cm of drainage is laid. For these purposes, fine gravel can be used. Before planting, the seedling must be hardened, to get rid of unnecessary shoots that can weaken the culture. With a handle, a peg should also be placed in the hole, on which the grapes could "lean". After the plant is tied to it, you do not have to worry about the subsidence of the cutting.
Pollination
During flowering, bisexual flowers are formed on the culture, capable of both self-pollinating and using insects in the process of pollination.
Pruning
Cut off the bushes as follows.
- Pruning in the fall is carried out after harvesting the fruits. Gardeners get rid of damaged and sterile branches that can become ballast for crops.
- In the spring, you should remove those shoots that are frozen or injured.
Watering
You need to water the plant 4-5 times during the growing season. Use warm water. After watering, the soil should be loosened.
Top dressing
For fertilization, potash, nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizers are used, which are applied no more than 3 times in one season. The last time the plant needs to be fed after picking the berries (a bucket of compost for each bush). After planting the vine in the ground, it should be watered with a solution of potassium permanganate of a weak pink color to avoid rotting of the root system.
Frost resistance and the need for shelter
The variety is able to withstand frosts at -22 degrees, but it is a covering one (it needs additional protection during cold periods). Here are some rules for hiding grapes.
- The branches are cut, removed from the support and carefully placed on the ground.
- The necessary fertilizing is introduced into the soil.
- The aboveground part should be treated with copper sulfate, which can relieve the plant from decay.
- The material for wrapping is selected. The most commonly used are burlap, foliage, slate, agrofibre and straw. Many people believe that it is impossible to use soil and deciduous shelter, since these methods contribute to the rotting of the eyes.
Diseases and pests
The beauty of Nikopol is resistant to various diseases, rarely affected by gray rot, oidium and mildew. Practically does not attract wasps.
If a grape is exposed to any disease or insect, this always affects its appearance.
Storage
Bunches can be stored for a long time: they retain an attractive and elegant marketable appearance for about 7 days if placed in a cool place.
