Codrianka grapes attract attention with large clusters of dark blue color. Sweet berries are eaten and also used to prepare various drinks and sauces.
Breeding history
The Kodryanka variety appeared thanks to the efforts of Soviet scientists. Representatives of the National Institute of Viticulture and Winemaking of the Ministry of Agriculture took part in the work. The specialists have combined the qualities of the following types: Moldova and Marshal. The second name of the variety is Black Magic. It appeared in 1985.
The fruits of table grapes are most often eaten in their pure form. They also make delicious wines, juices, sauces and drinks.
Description
The bushes are characterized by great vigor of growth. The vine ripens well for its entire length. Already in the second year of the growing season, gardeners reap a rich harvest with proper care. Underdevelopment of the berries is often found in the bunches, while they do not spoil the presentation of the fruit and do not affect the quality. Foliage color - standard for grapes, deep green.
Ripening period
This indicator significantly depends on the load of the bush, as well as the time of the beginning of flowering. In most cases, it matches the rest of the garden culture. The grapes are early ripening varieties. The growing season lasts from 110 to 118-120 days from the day of budding. As a rule, the crop is harvested in early August.
Bunches
Experts note two forms of bunches: conical and shapeless. The first option is the most common. Density ranges from medium to loose. Average weight is from 400 to 600 grams. In some cases, it is possible to collect bunches weighing up to 1.5 kilograms. There is a tendency to peas. It is recommended to leave a maximum of 30 clusters on one bush for their full ripening.
Berries
Ripe berries are colored in a dense, dark purple color, almost black. The sugar content is from 180 to 190 g / dm³. The acidity index is from 6 to 7 g / dm³. The skin is thin and easily torn; when eaten, it is practically not felt. The shape is oval. The pulp is firm and fleshy. The weight of one berry is from 6 to 8 grams. Dimensions (in millimeters) - 31x19. Each berry has 2-3 seeds.
Taste
The taste of the grapes can be described as simple, but at the same time harmonious and pleasant. The sweetness is moderate. Muscat flavor is absent. The experts gave this variety a tasting rating of 8.8 points.
Yield
With proper care, a rich and stable crop can be harvested. 53 centners of grapes are harvested from one hectare of vineyard. The maximum amount is 78 c. From one adult bush, you can collect up to 50 kilograms of fruit, if the food of the bush is an arbor. The next year after planting, signal clusters may appear.
Growing features
This variety can grow throughout the country. It is not afraid of frost (it can withstand frosts up to 22 degrees below zero), and the berries ripen quickly. Vigorous grapes develop rapidly. 2-3 inflorescences are formed on one shoot. The number of eyes on the bush is from 40 to 50.
Landing
On the territory of the southern regions, Codreanka is planted in spring or autumn. In the northern regions, planting can only be carried out in the spring. During this time, the bush will not only have time to take root, but also prepare for the upcoming cold weather. Bushes are planted between April and May, when the ground heats up to 16 degrees Celsius with a plus sign.
If the decision is made to plant grapes in the fall, October is best suited, about 3 weeks before the first frost. In this case, the seedlings must be protected with a cover.
Pollination
Due to the bisexual flowers, the plant can pollinate itself on its own.
Pruning
It is not recommended to prune the bushes for the first two years. The most that can be done is to get rid of unripe or dry shoots.
For growing bushes, Codryanka choose several types of pruning.
To regulate the number of shoots, rationing is performed. The optimal amount is from 10 to 17 branches per bush. Works are performed in early March.
Forming is carried out in the summer. In the warm season, the bush is removed from the leaves covering the bunches. And also remove extra stepsons.
Formative pruning is performed in the fall. Experts recommend shortening the vine to 7-9 shoots.
With the help of sanitary pruning, grapes are freed from damaged and diseased branches.
Watering
In order for the bushes to fully develop and give a stable harvest, you need to water regularly. About 6-7 buckets are used for one adult bush, 2-3 buckets will be enough for young plants. Irrigation frequency depends on weather conditions. It is necessary to prevent the top layer from drying out. Water the grapes about 1 time in 7 days.
It is not recommended to water the grapes while buds and fruits are forming, otherwise they may begin to crumble. To maintain an optimal level of soil moisture, mulch is used. However, it can only be used in autumn or spring; in summer, the mulch layer is removed.
Top dressing
This variety does not feel the need for abundant feeding. But in order to get a tasty and rich harvest, it is imperative to apply fertilizers according to the traditional scheme, both with folk remedies and organic matter.
And you can also use ready-made formulations: "Aquarin", "Novofert", as well as "Plantafola". These are foliar fertilizers that are used only in the evening.
Frost resistance and the need for shelter
Experts note a high rate of frost resistance of the variety. It also easily tolerates early spring frosts. If the vineyards are located in the northern regions, the plant must be covered for the winter. It should be borne in mind that adult bushes tolerate frosts much easier than young plants.
Before sheltering, the bushes need to be properly prepared. To begin with, pruning is performed, then treatment is carried out for diseases and dangerous insects. The branches are untied and laid on boards or slate. Top grapes are covered with straw or spruce branches. Use a sturdy film.
Diseases and pests
Codryanka is moderately resistant to gray mold. And also the variety practically does not suffer from mildew. Wasps are considered a big problem for the variety. Sometimes the plant is attacked by the grape leafworm. To prevent peas from occurring, the vine must be treated with gibberellin.
If a grape is exposed to any disease or insect, this always affects its appearance.
Storage
Berries can keep their presentation and taste for 4 months. The bunches should be stored in a cool and dark place in a single layer.
