The emergence of a new hybrid Furshetny attracted the attention of professionals and summer residents. Decent productivity, unpretentiousness, excellent taste and marketability have earned love for this grape far beyond the borders of native Ukraine.
Breeding history
The hybrid was bred in 2008 by the Ukrainian national breeder V.V. Zagorulko, who crossed two equally well-known grape varieties: Kuban and Gift to Zaporozhye. Table grapes Furshetny combined the best qualities of their predecessors - from the paternal form of the Kuban variety, he took the color and shape of the berries, from the maternal Gift to Zaporozhye - unpretentiousness and strength of growth.
Description
The hybrid is characterized by vigorous growth, strong root system, high sprouting ability - 12-14 shoots per m2. Rounded large leaves with curly edges, five-lobed, dark green in color with noticeable lighter veins. The petioles are long, reddish in color.
Without pruning, due to strong branching and high leafiness, a decrease in the quality of the bunches is possible. Shoots fully ripen by the end of the growing season.
If the harvest time is not observed, the taste of the fruit deteriorates. The bush is prone to crop overload.
The degree of disease resistance is medium.
Good transportability, sufficient early maturity and keeping quality makes it possible for commercial cultivation.
Ripening period
The Furshetny hybrid is considered early-medium in terms of ripening. For full ripening of grapes, the sum of active temperatures from 25 to 26 ° C and a period of 115-125 days are required. Such indicators make it possible to successfully grow a hybrid in the conditions of central Russia.
Important! Considering the level of SAT, the northern border of cultivation of the Furshetny hybrid is located at the latitude of Tambov, Lipetsk, Orel.
Bunches
The bunch is large, conical, possibly with a wing, rarely branched, of medium density, the normal weight of one bunch is 800-1000 g, the record weight reaches 2 kg. The combs are red-green in color, strong, short.
Berries
The fruits of the grapes are large, dark blue or red-violet, the color depends on the degree of ripeness, covered with pruin. The shape is oval. The mass of individual berries reaches 20 g, the average weight is 12-16 g. Thin, strong skin. From excess moisture, they rarely crack, almost are not affected by wasps. The fruits on the bunch are almost the same in size. The seeds are present, but do not spoil the taste of the grapes.
Taste
Taste qualities of Furshetny grapes are harmonious, according to the variety, were highly appreciated by both amateur winegrowers and professional tasters. The berries taste sweet, there are hints of mulberry and under-dried raisins, with a pleasant aroma. The skin is not felt when eating. The pulp is fleshy, dense, slightly crunches when bitten.
The best taste is manifested when fresh grapes are consumed.
Yield
The productivity of the hybrid depends on the correct care and the area where the plant is grown. Bush Furshetnoy 3 years old is capable of producing up to 20 kg of fruit.
Growing features
When choosing a place for Furshetny grapes, take into account its rapid growth. The bush in the season gives many shoots and is able to occupy a large territory. Food area - 5 m2.
Level areas and small slopes are suitable. You can not plant grapes in the lowlands and northern slopes, on lands with high groundwater. To protect the bushes from the winds, especially the northern ones, they choose the wall growing method. The plant loves an abundance of sunlight, even partial shade negatively affects the ripening of the crop and the sugar content of the fruits.
The hybrid has a tendency to overload with fruits, it is necessary to normalize the yield. For rationing, a plant fragment is carried out up to 25-30 fruitful shoots; before flowering, the number of inflorescences is reduced, on one shoot - one bunch.
For the cultivation of the Furshetny hybrid, trellis cultivation is used, rather strong supports are used. A non-standard multi-arm fan is formed.
Landing
Furshetny grapes are planted in spring and autumn. In autumn, before the cold weather (the bush should take root well by winter), covering the seedling with earth and covering it with spruce branches or foliage on top. In spring - with the onset of stable heat, after the end of the threat of frost.
All planting activities are basically similar to the agricultural technology of other varieties. Seedlings of this variety must be placed at a distance, to such a depth that 1-2 buds are above the edges of the pit. Landing scheme 3x3 m.
Just like when planting other varieties, it is better to mulch the soil around the seedlings with straw. A wire is pulled on the supports driven next to the bushes to tie the vines.
Pollination
The flowering time of grapes depends on the growing area - from the beginning of May to the end of June. Flowers open gradually over 1-3 weeks and bloom for several hours in the morning. The stigmas retain the ability to fertilize for 4-6 days. Since the flowers of the hybrid are bisexual, the plant is well pollinated. Small shedding of flowers and ovaries is possible in adverse weather conditions.
If during the flowering of the vineyards there were no heavy rains, return frosts and too dry and hot weather, you can expect a good harvest of Furshetnoye.
Pruning
A 2-year-old bush begins to form, they do it annually in early spring, before the start of sap flow or in the fall, after the vines are fully ripe and the foliage has fallen off. With spring pruning, 40-50 buds should remain on the bush; fruit arrows shorten to 5-8 eyes. Cuttings after pruning can be rooted in spring for propagation of grapes. To make life easier in the fall, in the summer they regularly break out excess green shoots, but not during flowering.
Frost resistance and the need for shelter
The Furshetny grape is a young hybrid, has just begun its advance to the north and its winter hardiness has not been fully studied. It has been established that it tolerates frosts down to -22 ° C, and requires a mandatory shelter for the winter period.
In the last decade of October, a mature vine must be removed from the trellis and laid on the ground. It is better to cover the grapes with spruce or pine spruce branches. If it is not possible to get spruce branches, they cover it with any available flat material, so that the bush is blown through with air from below, and mice do not start under it.
Diseases and pests
The Furshetny hybrid is characterized by an average resistance to diseases and pests. Does not require multiple treatments with fungicides. Maintain phytosanitary vineyard health with three standard compound sprays - two before flowering and one after. Rarely affected by gray rot. Resistance to fungal diseases: mildew and oidium, is estimated at 3.0 points out of 5.0.
For the prevention of mildew, spraying is recommended:
before flowering - "Polycarbocin", "Polychom", "Orcerid", copper oxychloride;
again - after flowering.
The affected areas of the plant must be sprayed with a solution of colloidal sulfur (after heavy rains, the spraying is repeated).
If a grape is exposed to any disease or insect, this always affects its appearance.
Storage
The wax protective layer on the berries of the Furshetny hybrid gives the fruit good keeping quality and the possibility of transportation, which increases its market attractiveness. It is advisable to use fresh grapes.
Correct and regular care, competent pruning and treatment, careful preparation for winter - that's all that is needed for a long and luxurious fruiting of grapes to the delight of lovers of this valuable and tasty culture.
