Breeding history
The author of the selection form Bogatyr is Viktor Mikhailovich Kalugin, whose hybrid forms of grapes are becoming more and more popular every year. Those who are interested in the cultivation of grapes willingly buy up all the selection novelties. Many species have already shown decent results in their yield. Viktor Mikhailovich has one of the largest sites in Ukraine, where the selection of new species takes place.
Description
Bogatyr is a table grape variety. Differs in very large and sweet berries, high yield, ease of growing. Undemanding to care for.
Ripening period
Roughly ripening occurs by August 25-31. The ripening period is 120-125 days from the appearance of the first shoots.
Bunches
The clusters are large, loosely folded, mobile. They have a cylindrical shape, they grow in weight 700-1200 g. Sometimes they reach 2 kilograms in their mass.
Berries
Berries are oval, barrel-shaped, variations are present. At the stage of maturity, the color is dark blue, almost black. Very large, single berry grows to a size of 30x48 mm and weighs 20-30 grams.
Taste
Bogatyr grapes have very high taste qualities. The skin of the fruit is soft, the flesh is fleshy, very dense, crispy, high sugar accumulation, balanced acid, harmonious taste.
Yield
The vigor is high, the vine ripens very well. Due to the high fertility, rationing is necessary. Grape fruits do not crack from excess moisture.
Growing features
The Bogatyr grape has no peculiarities in cultivation. You can stick to the standard scheme.
Landing
Before boarding, you need to choose a seat. It should be located on the sunny side. If the grapes do not have enough sunlight, the harvest will not be sweet. In addition, it should be borne in mind that the wind should not get to it. The most favorable for planting is the south side. It is advisable to plant it along the walls. If there is no way to arrange grapes along the wall, you can make a hedge 1.8-2 m high.
To plant seedlings, you need to do the following. In the ground, we make a hole 85 cm deep and the same width. At the bottom we put a layer of humus and earth about 25 cm high. We tamp the layer and add 300 g of superphosphate and potassium fertilizer, as well as 3 liters of wood ash. Then we ram it with the ground 10 cm high, after that we cover about 5 cm of clean soil.At the end, we make a mound with a notch in the center, into which we plant a seedling. Pour 3 buckets of water. When the soil dries up, it needs to be loosened, about 10 cm deep. It is necessary to water and loosen the ground several more times with an interval of 2 weeks.
After planting, it is required to regularly water the seedling and loosen the soil so that oxygen better flows to its roots. In addition, fertilize the soil and treat the plant against diseases and parasites.
Pollination
The flowers of the Bogatyr grapes are bisexual and do not need pollination.
Pruning
Pruning increases yields. In addition, it helps prepare the plant for winter, and is also the prevention of diseases and pest attacks. Spoiled branches are removed with a pruner or with a knife. Slices should be made even and shallow, at right angles, so that wounds heal faster. Fruiting shoots are carefully removed.
Frost resistance and the need for shelter
Frost resistance is –22 ° С. This type of grape is recommended to be grown in a covering form.
Diseases and pests
Resistant to fungal diseases. Has resistance to major diseases 2.5-3.0 points.

Storage
Bogatyr grape has great prospects for the market, is very transportable, excellent presentation. Due to this, it is stored well.
However, the main cause of any grape spoilage is mold. To prevent its possible occurrence, certain conditions must be observed. Lay the grapes completely dry. The later the berries are laid, the better. A place should be chosen with thick walls, dry, dark, odorless, and also ventilated. The temperature in the warehouse should be kept between +1 and +5 degrees Celsius. There are quite a few ways to store grape fruits, you can choose any. It is allowed to use boxes or barrels with a capacity of 8-10 kg, pouring bunches of wood or cork sawdust; hanging grapes on poles; stacked on shelves with a bedding layer of 2-3 cm from straw.
