Growing the Arched grape variety will allow the gardener not only to get a rich harvest, but also to decorate the site in an original way. This culture belongs to frost-resistant light-fruited plants. It ripens early and shows resistance to fungal infections. Sometimes the variety is also called Friendship pink, Tsvetnoy and III-14-1-1.
Breeding history
The arched grape was obtained by crossing the Intervitis Magaracha and Druzhba varieties. The cultivation was carried out by scientists from the Russian All-Russian Research Institute of Winemaking and Viticulture named after V.I. Ya.I. Potapenko. After lengthy experiments, breeders managed to bring out a high-yielding variety that has a good presentation, capable of transportability.
Description
Archnyi table hybrid grapes are characterized by vigorous bushes. The latter have good decorative qualities, therefore they are used to decorate the territory. The bright green foliage has jagged edges. The length of young lashes of the plant is about 3 meters. The vine of the bush is quite elastic, so it can be given any shape.
Ripening period
Arochny grapes are classified as early varieties. Its berries can ripen in a period of 115-120 days. This crop can please with the harvest the next year after planting.
Bunches
For grapes, the size of the bunch is quite important. Arched clusters are medium, their weight can be 400-600 grams. They are characterized by a cylindrical-conical shape and a dense structure. No peeling.
Berries
Each of the berries of this grape variety is one-dimensional, it has an oval-nipple shape. The fruit can grow up to a length of 2.5 cm. The width of the grape is 1.8 cm, and the weight does not exceed 5-6 grams. Pink berries have seeds. The fruits of the Arched grapes are characterized by a harmonious taste, sugar content 160-180 g / dm³, and acidity - 4-5 g / dm³.
Taste
The grapes have dense, fleshy flesh and an edible skin. They taste sweet with a slight floral aftertaste. A thick and sour skin with a herbaceous aftertaste can spoil the pleasant impression. Large berries received a tasting score of 7.7 points.
Yield
The arched variety is characterized by a stable annual yield. Grapes yield up to 12 kg of berries per year from one bush.
Growing features
The variety is considered a thermophilic crop, but despite this moment, it is grown in areas with cool climates.Arched belongs to frost-resistant varieties, withstands temperatures up to -25 degrees, but for this the culture must be planted according to all the rules.
Landing
Best of all, the Arched variety grows and bears fruit on sandy and sandy loam soil. In the case of a close location of groundwater, the vine can give a poor harvest or even die altogether. The best option for planting a crop is considered to be a well-lit southeast or southwest side.
Planting the plant must be done in the spring. In this case, the pit must be prepared in the fall - thus, the soil is well saturated with oxygen, and fungi and bacteria will die. The gardener needs to dig a hole, the size of which is 100 by 100 cm. The bottom of the hole should be laid with a drainage layer with expanded clay, brick or gravel. After that, sand is poured in layers, as well as peat with humus.
The procedure for planting a seedling depends on the characteristics of the root system.
- A vine with open roots is soaked in warm water for 2 hours. When the roots are saturated with moisture, they can be prepared for planting. In the prepared hole, it is necessary to make a slide, the height of which is 15 cm. A culture is placed on it and the roots are spread down.
- Grapes with a closed root system are much easier to plant. For the procedure, you will need to form a recess into which the seedling is immersed.
When the planting procedure is completed, the plant must be abundantly watered and mulched. Hay or mown grass can be used as mulch. After planting, the grapes are watered every 7 days with 10-20 liters of water.
Pollination
Arched grapes have a bisexual flower, so it is pollinated on its own. Thanks to this moment, the variety always gives stable good yields.
Pruning
In the first year after planting, the arched grapes are not pruned. After the passage of 24 months in the spring time, 2 lashes are left, which need to be properly trimmed:
- elimination of the 1st fruit lash leaving 6-8 buds on it;
- processing of the 2nd lash or knot, leaving 2 buds.
Next year, 2 lashes should be left on a short knot. In this case, a long branch will be fruitful. According to this scheme, the Arched grapes are formed annually.
Frost resistance and the need for shelter
Despite the high frost resistance of this grape variety, in the first years of the existence of the culture, experts advise covering it for wintering. This procedure is carried out even in the southern regions. If the climate is cold, then the plant must be insulated.
Diseases and pests
Arched grapes are characterized by medium resistance to such ailments as gray rot. The plant's resistance to mildew is 3.5, but the risk of powdery mildew disease is quite high.As a preventive measure, experts recommend treating the plant with dissolved copper sulfate or Bordeaux liquid. Root phylloxera is considered a dangerous pest for this variety.
If a grape is exposed to any disease or insect, this always affects its appearance.
Storage
After the grapes are harvested, the brushes must be sorted out. If there is any damage or deformation, then they must be sent for recycling. Whole brushes should be folded into wooden boxes and stored in a cool, dark room with normal humidity. If all requirements are met, then the crop will be stored until winter.
