Overview and tips for using Gorenje hobs
Gorenje produces kitchen appliances of impeccable quality. However, an ill-considered choice of it often puts people in unforeseen problems. It is worth considering what the products of the Slovenian concern are.
Peculiarities
Usually it is considered that the Gorenje hob belongs only to the middle price segment. But the company's assortment also includes the elite Gorenje Plus line. High quality materials are used in the production of these surfaces. Designers pay tremendous attention to ergonomic considerations. State-of-the-art technologies developed by the company itself are actively used.
A notable feature of Slovenian hobs is their sophisticated design. The front edge is ground extremely carefully and is complemented by relatively thin side profiles. The main role of these profiles is to increase the mechanical strength and stability of the structure. Gorenje Plus surpasses other lines of the company with the presence of a sensor control system. It allows you to more effectively track different cooking modes.
It is possible to combine two heating zones into one if atypical cookware is used. It should also be noted that Gorenje Plus is designed with a minimum noise level in mind. The automation can assess whether the cookware used is suitable for induction heaters, because only metal cookware is allowed.
Any hobs of the Slovenian concern have a rapid heating function. This option can save you a lot of time. Removable side panels and a number of other technological solutions make it much easier to clean the oven. And the efficiency of Gorenje induction hobs is beyond doubt. Many models are equipped with convenient touch control systems.

Gorenje hobs can be equipped with electric or induction heating elements. Strictly speaking, both types of devices operate by consuming electric current. The only difference is how exactly everything is applied, how the heat is obtained. Electric heaters have been around much earlier. The electrical impulse, passing through the resistor, is largely converted into heat energy.
Of course, the higher the conversion factor, the more economical the device is. However, the level of 100% cannot be reached due to the laws of nature. Above the resistors is mainly a layer of glass ceramics, but there are no other differences from the old-fashioned enameled products.
Induction heat generation is done differently: a high-frequency generator creates an induced eddy current. In this scheme, dishes are assigned the role of a conductor. Importantly, the coil itself and even the outer surface of the panel do not warm up. But a prerequisite is the electrical conductivity of the dishes used. In order not to select it carefully, you can purchase an inexpensive adapter. It will allow you to get heat when using any containers.
Simple electrical panels seem to be free from this drawback. But they have other weaknesses. So, you will have to abandon the use of old dishes, the bottom of which inevitably has certain irregularities. Because of them, the pressure against the surface of the disc is not tight enough.For a similar reason, you will have to abandon the use of a wok and a round cauldron, and other non-standard types of dishes.
Another disadvantage of "traditional" electrical technology is that it is not economical enough. And even with the same current consumption, it heats the food clearly slower than the induction analogue. The accelerated heating modes smooth out this difference a little. However, they can only be used for a limited period of time. And still, the difference in cooking speed remains.
In addition, a rapid build-up of warm-up from a low to a maximum value is also impossible. When it comes to dropping the temperature quickly, there is only one way - remove the cookware from the electrical surface. Many owners find this extremely inconvenient. Induction products are much more comfortable in this regard. The widespread opinion about strong noise is also not entirely true: you just need to get used to these moderately loud sounds, then they will not bother you.
The next important point is the heating of the burner. The electric stove necessarily warms up itself, and quickly, and then cools down for quite a long time. Children, pets and birds can be accidentally burned. This can even happen to the home cooks themselves. The slightest carelessness, carelessness - and now a heat injury.
It is unnecessary to explain what can happen if a waffle towel or the edge of a curtain raised by a draft gets on the disc ... But even if you ignore this moment, it is clear that during operation and cooling, the electric panel will give off a lot of heat. When it's already hot outside and there is no air conditioning, it becomes frankly uncomfortable in the kitchen. And if there is an air conditioner, then it works with increased load. And worst of all, it is worth getting on a heated disc of liquid or another product, as instantly the kitchen is clouded with smoke and fumes, and an unpleasant stain remains on the surface.
But simply deciding whether to use a conventional or induction hob is not enough. Next, you need to decide on the number of heating positions in the built-in surface. In most cases, the study of the assortment of various manufacturers begins with 4-burner models. And this decision is fully justified. However, it must be remembered that the location of these cooking zones can vary greatly. They are placed either in the form of a rhombus or in a rectangular pattern. Medium-sized burners are pushed forward, since they are needed in practice most often.
Four heaters allow you to cook the following dishes at the same time:
- first;
- meat;
- compote;
- side dish of your choice.
Important! Built-in hobs can even have 5 or 6 cooking zones. Such models are chosen by people who are truly passionate about cooking. Then it will be possible to cook on fire of different power, use the functionality fully.
Designs with three burners are recommended for small families. They can also use two-burner devices. Such hobs are needed if relatively little is cooked. And the owners of summer cottages will be happy. Usually this pattern resembles dominoes. But do not think that the two-burner surface is not powerful enough. Its burners can develop a power of up to 7 kW.
The Gorenje range includes both gas and combined hobs. All of them are adapted to be connected to a regular 220V outlet. By comparison, induction cooking equipment would require specialized connection methods. But it must be remembered that gas is connected only through the efforts of specialized companies. You will need to draw up a number of documents and conclude for the connection.
Mixed type panels are characterized by high quality coatings. Consumers say they are easy to care for. This solution is perfect for those who like to cook a lot and in an original way. Mixed control will delight both those who appreciate modern sensors and those who are used to traditional rotary knobs.Thanks to the gas burners, even old-fashioned cookware can be used.
The Slovenian manufacturer offers a range of glass ceramic panels. The popularity of such a material as glass ceramics is due to its strength and attractiveness. Importantly, such a surface can still warm up quickly. But it cools down rather slowly, since the thermal conductivity is high. But you have to beware of pinpoint strikes. It should be noted that glass ceramics can be damaged by dishes with an uneven bottom.
Panels with any coating material can be dependent and independent in execution. In technology, "dependence" is understood as a monolithic combination of the panel itself and the oven. They are connected by wires. Separating and using these parts separately will not work. All control elements are located on the oven, moreover, they are inserted into it "tightly".
One way or another, many models come with cast iron grates. The severity of this metal in this case is only welcome. Thanks to her, the gratings fit very securely and stably. You cannot accidentally move them. In addition, the cast iron grill looks stylish and soundly, immediately adds coziness to the room. What is important, cast iron, unlike enameled steel, will not crack even with active use.
The heaviest containers will not be affected either. But it must be remembered that if the cast iron grate falls, it can easily crack, so you need to handle it with the utmost care. Another type of Gorenje panels involves cooking on tempered glass. This material is very resistant to strong heat. It bends quite easily. Moreover, even very strong blows will not damage it. But it is worth considering the disadvantages. Thus, chips may appear along the edges, and tempered glass is not suitable for drilling and cutting.

How to choose?
When choosing a Gorenje hob, it is usually worth giving preference to models with four burners, then it will be possible to cook food even for a large number of people, which is very important for receiving guests. Having dealt with the number of burners, it is useful to pay more attention to the design points. The classic cast iron burners are gradually becoming a thing of the past, and glass ceramics are replacing them. As for the method of management, it all depends on personal taste. For some, rotary knobs are better suited, for others, touch controls.
Important! You should carefully read the technical data sheet and accompanying documentation.It is much more objective than advertising information. When figuring out the cost of a product, you need to pay attention not only to its formal price.
The costs of purchasing various spare parts for repairs are also of great importance. Rapid type burners can be used in electrified panels. Their main part is a nichrome spiral. It heats up in 12 seconds maximum. The power of such elements reaches 1–1.5 kW. Rapid products have a long service life. It is necessary to distinguish from them heating elements of the Hi-Light type. The spiral turns into a ribbon in them. This "snake" is also made of materials with very high electrical resistance. Heating up takes 6 seconds on average, the power of the burner is up to 2 kW.
When it is extremely important to use, in addition to the hob, an oven, it is advisable to stop the choice on dependent modifications. Then there is no need to search through many options. Compatibility is already guaranteed. They also note that it is easier to deliver a monolithic product. But when mobility comes first, you should prefer independent structures. The cheapest hobs run on natural gas.
The powerful heating of the hotplates allows you to prepare food faster. But it must be remembered that fire regulations prohibit the use of such equipment on the 11th and higher floors. Almost everyone prefers rectangular panels. In a small kitchen, you can also put a "honeycomb" surface. But round and triangular products are suitable only for spacious rooms.
Important! When choosing, the required distance to the wall and sink should be taken into account, while the gaps are also taken into account.
User manual
Connecting a gas hob, as already mentioned, is the prerogative of professionals. But the connection to the mains can be done by hand. This will require a separate power line with a 32–40 A socket. Additionally, an effective ground connection is required. The supply cables must consist of 3 copper phases, each with a cross section of at least 4 sq. mm. If there is already a plug on the cable, you need to disassemble the socket. Then, it is determined with a multimeter whether the connection meets the established requirements. Occasionally, the power wires and socket contacts do not line up.
In any case, you need to take care of the installation of an automated switch and an RCD. It is strictly forbidden to use ungrounded panels (both electrical and gas-fired).
If the socket is rated for 16 A, the switch must be 25 A. In this case, the residual current device must be 40 A or higher. The use of a supply line for obtaining energy by other devices is fundamentally excluded. Unlock the hob according to the manufacturer's instructions. But usually they use a button with a key for this: you need to try various manipulations with it.
