Baths with massage effect first appeared in sanatoriums. A little later, the usual baths equipped with a hydromassage system entered the market. Initially, they were available only to very wealthy people. Today, such a bath can be purchased at an affordable price. Higher, in comparison with a conventional hot tub, the cost is justified by the comfort and health effect that a bowl with a hydromassage gives.

Peculiarities

A corner bath with hydromassage is an excellent solution for small and medium-sized bathrooms. Placed in a corner along two perpendicular walls, such a font allows you to free up space in the center of the room, as well as part of the wall. At the same time, the inner space of the bath remains spacious and convenient for use. There are models in which you can take water procedures together.

Corner designs are asymmetrical and symmetrical. The latter are equilateral and can be in the form of a triangle, quarter or half of a circle. Asymmetric designs are irregular shapes that can have the form of a trapezoid, a truncated drop, a crescent, a round shape with a tapered bottom, a heart shape, or an infinity sign. Asymmetric bowls have right-hand and left-hand design, which indicates from which side of the bath the communication pipes pass.

Whirlpool baths are necessarily equipped with nozzles, from which air or water jets are supplied under pressure. There are also combined options that allow you to get water-air pressure. It is this massage that is considered the most useful.

A hot tub is considered an effective method of fighting cellulite. Regular procedures allow you to forget about problems with blood circulation and headaches, improve the condition of the skin, relieve nervous tension. Whirlpool baths can additionally have various massage modes, shower panel, glass doors, chromo and aromatherapy functions. The bowl itself often has recesses and supports that mimic the anatomical features of the body, silicone headrests, armrests and handles.

Advantages and disadvantages

The popularity of corner structures with a whirlpool function is due to a number of characteristic advantages.

  • The ergonomics of the bowl, thanks to which it fits even in small rooms, including Khrushchev's bathrooms. The minimum size of a corner font is 120 x 120 cm;
  • Variety of sizes - in addition to the specified minimum bath size, models can be found that reach 170-200 cm in length. Baths are called optimal for use, the dimensions of which are 150 x 150 cm.
  • Choice of an equilateral or versatile bowl. The optimal dimensions of the first are indicated above. A convenient asymmetric model is considered a bowl 170 x 80 cm, if the dimensions of the room allow, and you are looking for a bathtub for two, purchase a product 1700 x 1200 mm.
  • The health-improving effect provided by the nozzle system;
  • The ability to transform the interior - corner models always look original and allow you to make the style of the room original and memorable;
  • Ease of use due to the presence of a built-in shelf or a wide rim in the bathroom. It is convenient to place the necessary cosmetics on it without resorting to installing additional shelves above the bathroom.

The pros and cons of corner spa baths are also due to the material from which they are made. Acrylic baths are widely used. They are characterized by strength and durability (service life is 10–12 years), attractive appearance, high heat and sound insulation properties. The water drawn into the bowl does not cause a rumble, and the water in the acrylic bath cools very slowly - only one degree for half an hour.

Due to the plasticity of raw materials, it is possible to give the bowl a complex shape, to make models with glass. The acrylic surface is warm, smooth and pleasant to the touch.

The disadvantage of an acrylic bath is the fragility of the top layer, as well as the tendency to vibrations. To install a whirlpool system in an acrylic bathtub, it must have walls that are at least 5 mm thick, ideally 6–8 mm thick. Such models are quite expensive.

Cast iron baths, installed throughout the Soviet era, are not much inferior in popularity to acrylic counterparts. This is due to their high reliability and durability. The service life of the cast iron bowl is 30 years. Such bathtubs are strong and perfectly withstand vibrations that appear during the operation of the hydromassage system. They retain heat well, and thanks to the enamel layer, they do not make noise when drawing water. They have a pleasant surface, however, before stepping on it, it is necessary to drain the water for a few seconds. Cast iron itself is a cold material.

One of the main features of the cast-iron bowl is its large weight, which varies between 90-180 kg. This leads to the complexity of transportation and installation of the structure, and also imposes certain requirements on the strength indicators of the building floors. Features of raw materials do not imply a wide variety of forms of the finished product.

Stone bathtubs, due to their strength and stability, are also well suited for the installation of hydromassage systems. Today, stone models mean models made of artificial stone. They are based on marble chips (or fine-grained chips of other natural stone), polyester resins and, if necessary, pigments. Due to the similar composition and peculiarities of the production technology, bathtubs made of artificial stone are not inferior in their strength to granite, they very accurately imitate the color and texture of natural stone.

Due to the fact that liquid raw materials are poured into special forms, it is possible to obtain unusual shapes of finished products. The disadvantage is the high cost and the need for special care.

How to choose?

When buying an acrylic corner bath, remember that the material itself is not very durable. To achieve it allows the presence of fiberglass reinforcement. The more complex the shape of the bath, the more difficult it is to provide a reliable level of reinforcement. Considering that during the operation of the hydromassage, the bowl is already subject to vibrations, it is better to give preference to corner baths of simpler shapes.

It is important that the acrylic bathtub is made from a solid sheet of acrylic., this is the only way to guarantee the declared service life of the product and its reliability. The opposite of such bowls are baths made of extruded acrylic. The latter have a lower cost, but they will not last even 5 years. Vibrations generated during the operation of the hydromassage system will cause deformation of the bowl, the appearance of cracks at its joints with the wall of the bathroom.

Some unscrupulous manufacturers pass off as acrylic fonts made of durable plastic and covered with a thin layer of acrylic. This design is unambiguously unsuitable for a jacuzzi. It can be identified by a vibrating (playing bottom), dull shade.

Instead of a bathtub made of sheet acrylic, you can purchase an analogue from a quaril. It is a modification of acrylic with the addition of quartz sand. This provides a greater safety margin for the product.

Make sure the material is thick enough. As a rule, these are German, Italian and French bowls. Among Russian manufacturers deserves attention Aquatek brand. Model "Betta" considered the most purchased in the line. Its length is 170 cm, width - 97 cm, depth - 47 cm, which makes it convenient for use by an adult. Customer confidence won corner models Hoesch, Victory Spa.

When choosing cast iron models, it is necessary to correlate the dimensions of the structure and its weight. Do not be lazy to clarify what the approximate weight has a bathtub of the size you are interested in. When choosing, be guided by this data. Imported cast iron bowls are 15–20 kg lighter than domestic versions. This is due to the fact that baths of foreign brands have thin walls and shallower depth. Be careful, to install the hydromassage system, the wall thickness should be 5–8 mm. Bowls produced by European companies have a height of 35–38 cm, which is not very convenient for organizing a jacuzzi in them.

A high-quality stone bowl should be 80% stone chips and 20% resin. Otherwise, the structure cannot be called durable. The use of river quartz makes it possible to reduce the cost of the product, but along with the price, its strength characteristics also decrease.

Regardless of the material of manufacture, pay attention to the surface of the font. It should be smooth, evenly colored, free of noticeable pores, chips and other defects. Nozzles should not protrude above the bath surface. They are usually located along the massage lines. For a high-quality massage, their number should be at least 30 pieces.

Before buying, you should make sure that the drain hole and the sewerage system are compatible, the water supply systems are in good working order. The bowl must come with instructions, the necessary components, for acrylic asymmetric models - a frame support. In the absence of the latter, it should be purchased separately or take care of the construction of a supporting podium for the bathroom.

For small rooms, it is better to choose a snow-white bathtub, which will visually enlarge the room. Mirror and reflective surfaces should be used for the same purpose indoors.

The installation of a multi-stage water purification and softening system will extend the service life of the nozzles. It is better to purchase them together with the bathroom and install them immediately.
