Such interior solutions can be relevant both in old small-sized "Khrushchevs" and in modern studio apartments. The issue of saving space and harmonious arrangement of interior items is no less relevant for owners of country houses.

Peculiarities

In small-sized and also combined bathrooms, a narrow sink is an excellent solution.

Such models of plumbing have a number of advantages.

  • Compactness. The miniature dimensions (up to 35 cm wide) allow you to install the sink in the bathroom and even in the toilet without cluttering up the space. Small wall-mounted sinks free the passage to any point in the room, organically fit into the overall interior.
  • Convenience. Installing a small washbasin will allow you to wash your hands where you really need to.
  • Saving. Thanks to their compact dimensions, the narrow washbasins are at an advantageous price.
  • Practicality. Narrow rectangular sinks usually come with a countertop that can be used to arrange essential hygiene items.
  • Simplicity. Narrow hinged sinks allow you to hide all the plumbing, creating the effect of soaring and lightness.

    The modern sanitary furniture market is represented by a variety of models for the most unexpected interior solutions. Compact corner washbasins round off the space, expanding the boundaries of the walls.

    Models of sinks with a curbstone allow you to hide all women's accessories and household chemicals, freeing up space from small things that catch your eye.

    Small models also have their drawbacks, the main one being limited functionality. Often times, you have to wash your hands as carefully as possible so as not to flood the floor under the sink. Many hinged models do not allow you to hide water supply lines, which does not look very aesthetically pleasing. Narrow kitchen sinks are also less practical to use: large dishes do not fit into the bowl, water gets on the countertop.

    Views and installation

    When purchasing small narrow sinks, it is worth knowing a few rules for their installation. The first step is to decide on the shape and size. It is noteworthy that the dimensions of the narrow washbasins are presented in a wide range, so that each customer will find exactly what he needs. There are several types of sink installation, depending on the model.

    • Built-in sinks. Such models are equipped with various kinds of countertops (marble, wooden) or pedestals made of MDF, chipboard. Such designs hide all nondescript communications, and also allow you to organize an additional storage area for household chemicals, hygiene products and cosmetics. However, such models also have their drawbacks - it is a relatively large area of the occupied space.
    • Shells with a pedestal (tulip). Thanks to a special supporting structure, the bowl itself is fastened more securely, communications are hidden, and the pedestal does not clutter up the space in the room. This design looks quite light and relaxed, despite its strength. But there is one drawback - where to put small items.
    • Cantilever washbasins. Similar models of bowls are mounted on special brackets - consoles. The advantages of this type of installation are variations in different styles, a large size range, and ease of installation work. Among the disadvantages is the openness of water supply lines.

      To facilitate cleaning in the bathroom, it is more advisable to use hanging models. Before proceeding with the installation work, it is required to check the walls for their ability to withstand loads of varying degrees.

      If everything is fine, you can proceed with the installation of the product, which includes certain stages.

      • you should attach the sink to the desired height so that it is comfortable to use it, and then apply a preliminary marking;
      • when the walls of the bathroom are tiled with decorative tiles, it is worth paying attention to the location of the seams. The design of the washbasin will look more aesthetically pleasing if placed in symmetry with the tiled masonry. When applying markings, you must use a level;
      • then holes of the required depth are made at the marking points. In order to increase the strength of the structure, it is recommended to add a little glue to the holes. This method will allow the dowels to be installed more securely. You can deepen the dowels with a hammer, and only then screw in the screws;
      • making sure that the support structure is securely mounted, you can seat the sink itself;
      • the washers are tightened very carefully (if you overdo it, the product may crack) until the moment when the structure sits firmly in its place;
      • at the final stage of installation work, it is necessary to put on special plastic plugs to decorate the attachment points.

      Material

      In salons and online stores, you can find a wide variety of shapes and materials of sinks. The smallest sink with a depth of up to 20 cm will look actual in washrooms. It is also more advisable to use a long narrow sink in the bathroom, and a corner sink in the toilet. There are also small kitchen models up to 30 cm deep, made of stone.

      When choosing a suitable model, you should pay special attention to the material from which the sink is made.

      • Ceramic (faience) sinks are most popular in bathrooms. The advantages of this material are attractive price and ease of maintenance. However, faience is a porous material, therefore, dirt and darkening of the enamel occur too often, forcing the hostess to clean it with sufficient regularity.
      • One of the types of ceramics is porcelain. It looks gorgeous. By itself, this material is quite durable, but these characteristics make it expensive in comparison with other materials.
      • Stainless steel sinks are particularly durable and long-lasting compared to ceramic models. Among the advantages, you can also designate an aesthetic appearance. But these models also have their drawback - stainless steel is very sensitive to abrasive cleaning agents. Over time, scratches may appear on it, and if you use gentle chemicals and soft sponges, you cannot avoid visible soap stains after each use.
      • Stone sinks Is more an element of luxury than convenience and comfort. Models made from natural and artificial stones are too expensive and require special careful care. Moreover, the stone material has a porous surface, on which difficult-to-clean dirt quickly settles.
      • Relatively expensive, but reliable are models of sinks made quartz composite... Composite material is presented in a wide range of colors and looks like granite. This will allow the future owner to choose the right model for any interior solution. Among the disadvantages are the requirements for special care.
