The Spanish company Roca has specialized in the production of sanitary ware since 1917. In 2004, a subsidiary company Roca Group was established in Russia, the main production of which is located in the city of Tosno, Leningrad Region.

The Spanish brand produces baths, sinks and toilets of various shapes and modifications, as well as furniture and other accessories for bathrooms and toilets.

Peculiarities

The assortment of Roca includes a huge number of models for different tastes and wallets. If you wish, you can choose a budget option for a small studio or an elite model for a luxurious private home.

Among the advantages of Roca are the following:

  • Roca products can be afforded by consumers with incomes slightly above or below average;
  • high quality, proven by several generations;
  • a huge selection of models and accessories;
  • versatility of models. If you wish, you can choose a sink from one collection, and a bath from another;
  • a variety of materials of manufacture.

Among the shortcomings, the following points can be noted:

  • the need to choose one manufacturer when buying a basic product and accessories;
  • some models of sinks have a complex fastening system; during installation, the help of a specialist may be required;
  • difference in price and quality of European and Russian manufacturers. The same model, manufactured in different places, may differ both in cost and in some manufacturing details.

Views

Roca manufactures well-known washbasins. The main difference between the two is the fastening method.

It is worth understanding the main types of sinks that are presented under this brand.

  • Wall-mounted sinks, which are installed directly on the wall, are divided according to the method of attachment into:
  • mount in the form of brackets. Such sinks have a decorative siphon at the bottom;
  • mount on the table top. These sinks require additional installation space.
  • Overhead models create the illusion that they are just standing on top of the surface. They are attached to a pedestal or table.
  • Mortise bowls are inserted into a cut-out hole in a horizontal surface of the same shape and fastened from below with clamps or brackets.
  • Built-in sinks are installed at one level or below the built-in surface.
  • Semi-recessed designs usually include a cabinet or table top. They have built in only the back of the shell, the front remains free.
  • Pedestals are floor standing bathroom sinks known as "tulip". They are held on a base leg, in which all communications are hidden.
  • The semi-pedestals have a leg in which the siphon is hidden, and the sewer pipes are built into the wall.
  • Corner. This is a special group of washbasins specially designed for small rooms.

Materials (edit)

The main material used for the manufacture of Roca brand sinks is ceramics. However, this is not the only material. There are several varieties of sinks of the famous brand.

  • Faience used for budget models. The advantages of faience sinks include low cost, variety of designs and shapes, resistance to household chemicals. Faience is not afraid of extreme temperatures, and the color does not change over time. The disadvantages are that the glaze wears off quickly and the product loses its attractiveness.
  • Porcelain. A porcelain sink is more durable, has a longer service life and is easy to maintain.On contact with the surface, the water flows quietly. The disadvantages include the high price and weight of the sink.
  • Glass. For sinks, extra strong tempered glass 1.5–2 cm thick is used. Glass sinks are very durable and beautiful, resistant to temperature extremes, but completely impractical and require daily care. In addition, abrasives are categorically contraindicated for them.
  • A natural stone. Design models of sinks are made from it, their release is regulated and is rarely found on the free market. They can be seen at various exhibitions and presentations in which the company participates. Quartzite, marble, granite and other rocks are used as raw materials.
  • Fake diamond. Products made of composites - duralite and other materials look very elegant. Such products are more resistant to mechanical damage, practically do not differ in appearance from natural stone and are cheaper. However, they are less strong and durable.

Dimensions (edit)

All shells can be divided into several subspecies.

  • Mini sinks. Their width is usually about 40 cm, and their depth does not exceed 25-30 cm. This is an excellent solution for an office, studio or toilet. As a basic model, this option is not very convenient, since water will splash and pour out. The shape is often angular, reminiscent of the "tulip" type.
  • Standard sinks. This is a category of sinks with a width of 50–70 cm and comes in almost all shapes.
  • Large sinks. The width of the products is 80–130 cm. Often such models are double or have a large table top with a dressing table function.

Forms

The company's designers never cease to amaze fans of the brand with a variety of shell shapes. For cramped rooms, corner models are usually chosen, because they partially solve the problem of space shortages. Sinks in standard sizes can be round or semicircular, oval, square or rectangular. They are versatile shapes suitable for almost any room, any design, and any price point.

The option with two bowls looks very extraordinary. It is usually chosen for public toilets or for a large family.

Colors

Despite the diversity of the lineup and the large number of different collections, the Roco designers have shown conservatism in terms of the color scheme. All plumbing fixtures, including sinks and accessories for them, are available in two colors: white and pergamon - a shade of beige.

Style and design

The company's developers are trying to combine classic beauty and design with new technologies. Eminent European architects and artists are working on the creation of the collections. For achievements in the field of design, the company has repeatedly received prestigious awards and prizes, for example, the Cannes "Golden Lion", the National Prize for the best marketing, the prize for individuality and functionality.

Among the objects for which Roco products were purchased are the Museum of Modern Art in Stockholm, the Olympic Village in Barcelona and other equally famous buildings.

How to choose?

When choosing, you should pay attention to several factors.

  • The sink should match in style with other furnishings. Ideally, the bathtub, toilet bowl and furniture should be, if not from the same collection, then at least one origin and certainly match in shade.
  • The dimensions should be commensurate with the area of the room. Too large a sink will make the room cramped and uncomfortable, and too small will look ridiculous and ugly.
  • Every sink must have an overflow device to prevent flooding.
