The bathrooms that can be found in modern homes are very different from their predecessors. And the difference lies not only in expensive finishes and fashionable plumbing, the main difference is the visual absence of plumbing communication systems. A person sees only the decor, and all thanks to the installation, which can be selected for each individual sanitary ware.

Peculiarities

Not everyone will answer the question of why an installation for sinks is needed, because this word appeared in the lexicon of domestic consumers relatively recently, but if you want to get an aesthetically attractive bathroom, you need to figure out what it is.

The installation system (SI) is a special design, thanks to which in the sanitary room all pipes, connections and other communication elements are hidden under tiles or other facing material. Only the bathroom, sink, toilet and furniture, if any, in the room remain in sight.

The installation looks like a metal frame made of a shaped pipe. As a rule, its dimensions are from 350 to 500 mm in width, from 350 to 1300 mm in height, and not more than 75 mm in depth. You can also meet frames with a depth of about 200 mm, they are used to install large and heavy washbasins. Installation parameters depend on the size of the installation niche - the place where all communications are hidden. There are also various accessories on the frame that make it easier to install and connect to the metal structure of the sink. These include:

  • cross members ensure the rigidity of the structure, they are made from a profile pipe;
  • fasteners fix the frame to the floor and wall;
  • studs are used to securely attach the sink;
  • the sewer outlet is made of plastic, has a rubber seal in the form of a cuff. Its diameter can be 32, 40 or 50 mm;
  • the plate for fastening the threaded plumbing elements has holes in which you can install both metal-plastic pipe fittings and polypropylene swivel elbows.

It may seem to someone that it is impossible to install the installation on their own, that experience and knowledge are necessary, but this is a delusion. The installation process can be done by hand, even if there are no plumbing skills.

Purpose

An experienced plumber can fix the tap even without SI. At the same time, all water and sewer pipes are hidden in the wall, and the location of their outlet is calculated in such a way that upon completion of the work, only those items remain in sight, the installation of which was originally conceived. You can save money and not buy an installation.

There are cases when it is difficult to do without its installation.

  • When the washbasin is mounted on a plasterboard panel created at a distance of more than 75 cm from the main wall. Some plumbers manage with special embedded elements (tulips and curbstones), but they do not give the necessary rigidity, and this picture does not look very attractive. Conciseness and minimalism are in fashion now, and support devices are now considered an echo of the past. The installation in this case replaces these devices.
  • If the sink is mounted directly into a plasterboard partition, SI must be used. In order not to prop up the washbasin with the same cabinet or tulip, you will have to use an installation.It is installed on the floor inside a plasterboard structure and a washstand is already connected to it.

In other cases, when the washbasin is attached to a concrete or brick wall, the installation may not be used. The washbasin will hold perfectly even without it, as well as without additional support elements (tulip, pedestal).

Varieties

There are not so many signs according to which SI is divided into groups - these are the way of installation of the structure and the type of mixer.

According to the installation method, crane installations are divided into two types.

  • Floor structures always have special attachment points to the floor covering. There may be no clamps to the wall (when the frame is installed in the main wall behind the drywall panels).
  • Wall mounted SIs do not provide for any fastenings to the floor, therefore there is another name for this type of installation - suspended. Installation of such structures is possible only on a solid wall or on a very rigid partition.

There are three types of installations according to the type of mixer.

  • Classical. The situation when the angles for connecting the crane are in the area of the sewer outlet. This SI provides for the installation of a washbasin with a mixer already built into it.
  • The second type is used when the installation corners are placed on top - such a frame is needed for a wall faucet, which is most often installed in bathrooms.
  • The third type of installation differs in that there are no mixer connection details at all. As strange as it may sound, this installation option is used most often. This is the so-called universal variation that allows you to mount the water supply in the place that the owner of the premises has chosen. For example, if you bought only one mixer (for use in the bathroom and above the washbasin), then the entire system can be moved to any of the convenient sides.

In addition, SI can provide for the installation of just one tap for supplying either cold or hot water.

Brands

Today the choice of SI manufacturers is quite large. Each has installation options to suit the wishes and needs of the customers. The most popular and frequently purchased products are from several companies.

  • Geberit Is a Swiss company specializing in the production of the Kinbifix and Duofix installation systems. The sanitary ware market has been on the market for 140 years, so a large number of buyers trust this brand.
  • Grohe. A German manufacturer distinguished by stability, quality and reliability of its products. However, the cost of the SI brand is quite high. The cheapest SI will cost the buyer 4000 rubles. Not everyone can afford this pleasure.
    • Sanit and Viega. Another German representatives, not as popular as the previous brand, but the quality of their products is at the same level, and prices are much lower.
    • Ido Is a Finnish trademark that has been producing SI since the days of the USSR. All plumbing equipment, produced on Scandinavian machines, is of excellent quality and reasonable price.
