When choosing plumbing, most buyers turn their attention to standard acrylic rectangular shapes. Manufacturers are expanding the ability to fantasize when designing and present a line of square shapes in different price categories. They are made from materials such as acrylic, stone, iron and wood.

Acrylic Bathrooms

The most popular in various interpretations is acrylic, or its analogue kvaril. Kvaril is made with mineral casting, while it costs a little more than its counterpart. Quaril bathroom is characterized by high reliability. Most often, square cast mineral baths are built into the floor, which allows the material not to bend under a large weight of water.

Acrylic is poured by injection, combination or extrusion method. The combined look is made of ABS plastic and PMMA. It consists of two layers, one of which is acrylic and the other is a plastic layer that provides some waterproofing. Extrusion acrylic is a low molecular weight polymer. Factories produce bathtubs from ABS plastic, covering it with a thin layer of acrylic.

These products are less expensive than fully cast acrylic baths.

The advantages of the material are as follows:

  • the water cools slowly;
  • no noise is emitted when drawing water;
  • smooth surface, but non-slip;
  • easy to clean with special acrylic products;
  • low weight of the product;
  • a variety of designs unlike other materials, such as cast iron;
  • mold does not form on the surface at constant humidity, which allows even small children to be bathed without fear of allergies.

The disadvantages of acrylic include the following features:

  • deformation of the surface at a temperature of +160 degrees;
  • mechanical fragility - deflection is possible under the weight of a person;
  • when struck by a heavy object, cracks and holes can occur;
  • when draining rusty water, the surface may become stained;
  • only acrylic cleaner can be used for cleaning, other chemicals affect the color, scratch the surface and the material becomes cloudy;
  • price policy;
  • service life no more than 10 years.

To choose the right acrylic bathroom, you need to pay attention to the following points:

  • the walls should not shine through in the light;
  • it is worth pressing on the bottom to determine the strength, often manufacturers strengthen it with a wooden gasket with a metal frame;
  • it is recommended to pay attention to the manufacturer. Europeans resort to injection molding, Russian and Chinese companies to extrusion;
  • it is worth paying attention to the cut. If there are many layers, then plastic was also used in the manufacture, and according to the rules there should be only two layers;
  • the thickness of the acrylic should be checked. If you shine a flashlight, while you can see irregularities, then the layer is very thin. It is worth running your hand along the walls, if they are bent, then the production technique is violated;
  • it is recommended to ask the seller for certificates and other documents for the product to confirm the compliance of the data.

Bathrooms made of stone

They are mainly made of artificial stone, using natural stone chips such as marble, granite, slate, onyx and polyester resins. Such bathtubs look very impressive and are cheaper than completely made of marble.

Artificial stone is not whimsical in operation, but still requires special care. It is important to avoid staining water (rust, paint).

Iron

One of the most popular types is the cast iron bathroom. Such products have a long service life and are extremely durable. Although they have a big minus - weight. The lighter option is the steel model. The only thing is that when drawing water, a very unpleasant noise is created.

Wooden

Lovers of natural materials can choose wooden hot tubs. Larch, cedar, teak, wenge and others are used in their manufacture. The wood must undergo a special treatment, which increases the water resistance of the material. This method is used very rarely, mainly only on order. Most often, wood is used as a decorative element.

The cladding is made of wood paneling and the bath itself is acrylic.

Design options

Various design solutions are possible. If the room is not too large, the main location of the square bath can be: one of the corners of the room or close to one of the walls. It will look more effective in the middle if the area allows you to move freely.

Manufacturers offer a wide range of square bathrooms for different bathroom sizes: 90x90, 100x100, 120x120, 140x140, 150x150, 215x215 mm, calculated from one person. The height of the product can be 650, 720 or 750 mm. The depth can be varied: the smallest is 450 mm, and the deepest is 750 mm. The standard size is a 120x120 cm model with a depth of 45 cm and a volume of about 350 liters of water. The largest option is 215x215 cm, 75 cm deep and 700 liters of water.

Despite the absolutely even shape of the bowl, bowls for square bathrooms can be made of various configurations: round, oval, polygonal, double. Bowls of any shape are made by special order of the consumer.

Designers suggest installing plumbing near windows (if any) using lights, handrails, transparent inserts on the sides, install headrests and bar niches. It is also possible to install massage jets, video screens or a player.
