The classics in the modern interior came from the past. This trend appeared in the XVI-XVII centuries, in contrast to the pompous luxurious rococo. The classic style has shown itself to be both restrained and respectable, emphasizing aristocratic simplicity in all its appearance. At its best, the classic interior was made out of expensive types of wood.

It is the luxury of the material and the modesty of the furniture design that have developed that golden mean for which this interior has been so loved for many centuries.

Advantages and disadvantages

Distinctive features of classic corner furniture are symmetry, rectilinear geometry and uniform proportions. The classic style kitchen is functional, versatile, suitable for both large and small rooms.

Advantages of a corner classic kitchen:

  • such furniture cannot get bored even after a long period of time, as it happens with non-standard, arrogant or bright designs;
  • it is very easy to choose finishing materials and textiles for a classic kitchen;
  • in the corner kitchen, all the necessary items and equipment are literally within walking distance;
  • a headset made at an angle is much more compact than a straight one;
  • such furniture allows you to correctly build a "working triangle": refrigerator, sink, stove;
  • the corner kitchen easily divides the room into two zones: working and dining.

As for the disadvantages, the corner kitchen is not suitable for rooms with complex architecture.

Main characteristics

Consider the characteristic features of classic corner kitchens.

  • These are solid and stable structures.
  • The classic material for furniture is wood. But in our time, in order to reduce the cost of products, they are made from MDF with imitation of various types of wood.
  • As a decor for classic furniture, they use embossing, inserts from valuable wood species, glass, stained-glass windows, mirrors, patina.
  • Classicism is marked by the presence of columns in everything: in architecture, landscape design, interiors and even furniture. This element is quite common in corner kitchens.
  • In most cases, classic furniture is produced in light shades: white, beige, cream, milk. But sometimes wood and noble dark tones are used. For example, the combination of mahogany with copper decor looks very sophisticated.

Externally, the classic corner kitchen looks beautiful and simple. It can be L-shaped or equilateral, with an island or peninsula, with a bar. In a modern headset, even the corner section is no longer a problem, it is occupied by a "magic corner" with an easily accessible swivel system. Sometimes a stove or sink is placed in the corner.

Neoclassic

The neoclassical style appeared at the beginning of the 20th century, it belongs to modern classicism, only simplified and modernized, combines strict geometry with the spirit of minimalism. This is a great option for people who prefer discreet splendor combined with convenience and functionality. In neoclassicism, the luxury of the past is skillfully combined with the dynamics of our time.

Characteristic features of corner kitchens in the style of the new classics:

  • such furniture is installed in spacious rooms, since it requires significant height and volume;
  • the headset is distinguished by symmetry and strict proportions;
  • in more refined, rich versions, the column style remains, as well as glass, stained-glass windows, etc.;
  • unlike classic furniture, such furniture does not look massive and heavy, but refined and noble;
  • the color range is light, natural shades;
  • the new trend is characterized by an elegant, unobtrusive decor.

The neoclassical style presupposes spaciousness and good lighting; cramped rooms are not suitable for this direction. But today designers are doing an excellent job with this task: the corner kitchens "Trapeza", "Angelina" and other models fit perfectly into small spaces.

Design options

Modern designers have developed many classic kitchen projects and corner options are the most popular of them. Let's consider some beautiful and practical options.

  • A bright kitchen with rich stone worktops. The slab section is bounded by columns typical of classicism, imitating a fireplace. The upper tier of furniture belongs to the exhibition block, it is completely glazed.
  • In this variant, the same technique is applied: the design of the stove is in the form of a fireplace and the decor is represented by columns. This kitchen is equipped with a large corner cabinet, which is unusual for this type of furniture (designers prefer to lighten the corner). But in this case, a large wardrobe, open shelves, surfaces with different levels resemble a vintage setting from the 19th century.
  • Elegant light set. Classic columns are repeated by refrain in each module.
  • Neoclassicism is presented in its austere splendor. Skillful combination of several natural shades of brown. Simple bar counter with no frills. The kitchen well combines the beauty of symmetry, comfort and functionality of a modern style.
  • Respectable kitchen with a work surface and an apron made of natural golden material. Gold-plated moldings support the theme. The kitchen is unusual for its massive corner section.
  • L-shaped arrangement of furniture in a small room. The elegance and impeccable look of the interior give small rooms a chance to look elegant and comfortable.
  • Another option for compact kitchen furniture with a corner sink. The working area is successfully combined with the window. Despite the small size, there was a place in the curbstones for open sections with bottle-holders.
  • Dark kitchen with natural wood imitation and rounded fronts looks cozy and restrained. The open version of the bottle holder serves as a decoration for furniture.
  • The headset has a dark, almost black color, which is a rarity for the classic trend. Glass showcases make furniture easier to perceive. The gilding on the dark surface emphasizes the seriousness of the owner's taste.
  • Traditional Italian classic style. The corner of the furniture goes into a niche, as the room has an atypical architecture. The bar counter is designed as a closed console.
  • Ivory kitchen has a contrasting dark work surface. The window sill is a continuation of the table top.
  • Compact modern corner furniture with stained glass. It is quite functional as it has a large number of storage locations.
