Quite often, gardeners use top dressing or fertilizers to obtain a rich and rich harvest. There are a lot of mixtures suitable for this purpose, but the choice should be stopped on better quality and professional means, for example, green Japanese fertilizer.

What it is?

Based on the name, it is easy to understand that Japanese fertilizer is made from greens. You can use any grass, whether it be weed or regular cut grass.

This fertilizer has many advantages.

  • Budgetary. You don't need to spend money on its creation. The grass grows anywhere, you can get it without much difficulty.
  • Environmental Safety. There are no chemicals in green fertilizer, so it does not harm the soil and nature in any way.
  • Simple preparation. For its manufacture, special forces and labor are not required; anyone can cope with this.
  • Plants quickly and well assimilate such fertilizer.
  • A green fertilizer works well with excess acidity.
  • Wellness. Elements that help plants to fight various diseases can also be attributed to the indisputable advantage.

Can be used not only as fertilizer, but also for soil preparation.

You can use green fertilizer in different ways:

  • fresh, immediately after mowing;
  • in liquid form, from the moment the tincture was created;
  • dried, as mulching;
  • compost when the fertilizer is overcooked.

What is needed for cooking?

As mentioned earlier, it is possible to prepare green fertilizer from any herb. However, the most popular ingredients are:

  • weeds;
  • cut grass;
  • currant leaves;
  • gooseberry leaves;
  • chamomile;
  • sagebrush;
  • shepherd's bag;
  • nettle;
  • hay.

It is recommended to take plants during the period of bud creation: they contain a large amount of valuable elements. Nettle is also excellent, which stimulates plant growth and has a beneficial effect on the soil.

But it is worth remembering that this plant often attracts worms and other insects.

Directly to create you need the following:

  • barrel or any other capacious container;
  • selected plants;
  • water;
  • additive with nitrogen content;
  • film, cardboard or cloth that can be used to cover the barrel.

It is worth noting that the most favorable volume for the container will be 100 liters. As for the material, plastic is the best option: unlike metal, the bottom of the plastic will not rot. In addition, plastic does not form harmful compounds when it reacts with fermenting greens. It is best to place the barrel directly in the sun.

Do not take tap water, especially if it contains bleach. Rainwater or well water will do. The liquid must be heated under the sun. In order to speed up the fermentation process, you will need nitrogen supplements or green manure. You can use both a ready-made humate agent and carbamide in granules.

If a humate fertilizer is chosen, then about three caps are enough for one barrel. If urea, then about three tablespoons. Ash or bone meal will also be useful.

How to make fertilizer?

The first step is to fill the barrel about halfway with grass. Before doing this, it is best to chop the greens into small pieces, as this will speed up the process of nutrient transfer. It should be noted that immediately before cooking, the grass should be carefully sorted out: remove all roots and seeds. If wheatgrass is found, burn it. Further, the container is filled with water, but not completely, since during fermentation the grass will significantly increase in size.

Now the barrel can be covered, while eliminating all kinds of vapors, because they also contain important elements. Green fertilizer should be infused for no more than two weeks. In this case, you need to mix it once every two to three days. The beginning of the fermentation process can be recognized by the appearance of an unpleasant odor. You can eliminate it with a valerian-based decoction. As soon as the fertilizer for the garden is completely ready, its color will turn brown.

Many people neglect the above rules, leaving the broth to infuse on its own for a long time. However, this is wrong. It is important to know that during fermentation, ammonia is created, which is very harmful in large quantities. That is why it is worth maintaining the "life" of the future fertilizer by draining the ready-made solution and throwing out the grass used to the end.

In order to pour the finished product, you need to get the waste cake with a pitchfork.

Green fertilizer from nettle

Green fertilizer from nettle is not in vain very popular: it strengthens immunity against various diseases, and also works well against aphids.

When preparing such an infusion, it is imperative to take into account several important points:

  • the grass must be collected strictly before the seeds ripen;
  • the plant should be free from all signs of disease;
  • we must not forget about periodic stirring;
  • for a faster result, you can use a starter culture;
  • fertilizer must be applied 2 times a month, combined with watering;
  • The composter itself should never be installed in a low-lying area, as this provokes stagnation of water, and ultimately decay.

Cooking process.

  • The herb used must be chopped up.
  • The milled plants are sent to the container. They should occupy about a third of the entire barrel.
  • Next, a liter of fertile soil is added.
  • The resulting mixture should be poured with settled water so that it completely absorbs it.
  • The tincture is thoroughly mixed, and then covered tightly.
  • At the end of fermentation, the mixture will be ready.

How to use it correctly?

In order not to burn the roots and leaves of plants, the prepared concentrated fertilizer must be diluted in a ratio of 1: 10. As for the feeding itself, each plant has its own norm. For example, in order to process strawberries, you will need about one and a half liters of solution for a bush. Ornamental garden plants can also be watered. You will need one bucket of clean water mixed with a bucket of the solution itself. The resulting liquid can be safely watered bushes, trees and other plants.

It should be noted that it is recommended to apply fertilizers for horticultural crops at the end of autumn, when the leaves completely fall off. The fact is that when used in early autumn, the branches will continue to grow, and wintering will be poor. The most appropriate time to apply Japanese green fertilizer is during the active growth phase of the plant. From the beginning of the moment of fruiting, the addition of additives should be completed. It is very important to feed before the plants begin to bear fruit. This should be done once a week.

It is equally important to apply fertilizer strictly on wet ground. Green fertilizer is an excellent and budget option for gardeners and gardeners who want to get a high-quality and rich harvest. It not only stimulates plant growth, but also enriches the soil, saturates it with the necessary nutrients. That is why such a remedy will be an excellent option for everyone.
