Potassium permanganate or potassium permanganate is well known for its antiseptic properties. The use in medicine is very wide: it helps from poisoning, and cauterizes the wounds. Experienced gardeners have found use of a useful powder when working in garden plots. A solution of potassium permanganate is used not only for disinfection of seeds, soil, but also as a top dressing, replenishing the lack of nutrients during the growth of seedlings, as well as for prophylaxis against various diseases.

The benefits of fertilization

In specialized flower shops, they offer a choice of effective chemical additives for plants, but during fruiting it is recommended to give preference to folk safe remedies. In this case, hazardous substances from chemicals will not be absorbed into the fruit and will not cause poisoning.

The main ways of using potassium permanganate.

  1. Potassium permanganate for strawberries is used during the breeding period. Strawberries are propagated by seeds, layering, dividing the bush. Before sowing, seeds must be disinfected to remove fungi and prevent infections.
  2. Disinfect working equipment and seedling pots.

The standard solution is prepared as a concentrated, one percent solution. Take 10 g of potassium permanganate and dilute until completely dissolved in 1000 ml of plain water. The seeds are dipped in the solution for 15 minutes, and the inventory is wiped. With this dark solution, you can water the ground - pickle, but before planting seedlings or introducing seeds.

This solution will burn the roots of the hardened plants.

Effective against diseases and pests as a prophylaxis:

  • from the crumb;
  • against gray rot;
  • powdery mildew;
  • black leg;
  • nematodes;
  • weevils and ticks.

Strawberries have so many pests that prevention is necessary 3 times a year:

  • before planting - soil dressing;
  • before flowering in May;
  • early flowering in June.

For the planted plants, a weak solution is prepared: 1-5 g of potassium permanganate is added to 10 liters of water. The soil is watered with this solution for disinfection, prevention and early treatment. With advanced forms of diseases, potassium permanganate is useless.

No treatment is carried out, only damaged leaves are removed or the plant is completely destroyed.

How to make a solution?

Strawberries lack trace elements, so they need a combined feeding that includes several active substances. When interacting with each other, they make up for the lack of nutrition. Potassium permanganate will add manganese and potassium to the earth, ammonia - nitrogen, iodine disinfects, boric acid - boron, as a growth stimulant.

For the solution you will need:

  • potassium permanganate - 1 g;
  • ammonia - 2 tbsp. l .;
  • iodine - 10 drops;
  • boric acid - 2 g;
  • warm water - 2 and 10 liters.

Dilute boric acid first, then add potassium permanganate with ammonia and iodine in a 2 liter container with water, then dilute the mixture with 10 liters of water. Apply before flowering.

Promotes a bountiful harvest, is a prophylaxis against diseases.

Methods and periods of application

Potassium permanganate in moderation and applied strictly on schedule will not harm the plants. This applies to both the root part and greenery with fruits and flowers. The main purpose is to prevent diseases from developing and to disinfect the soil. Potassium permanganate diluted with water can be watered, fed the plant, spraying of leaves and flowers is provided. Soil cultivation is carried out no more than 3 times a year:

  • before boarding;
  • in the spring before the buds appear;
  • in early summer with the appearance of flowers.

Before planting, the ground is disinfected with a concentrated solution. In the spring, before flowering, a combined feeding is carried out. At the beginning of summer, during flowering, the roots can not be fertilized, but sprayed with a weak solution: 3 g of potassium permanganate per 10 liters of water. It is recommended to carry out procedures in the evening, in calm weather.

During fruiting, it is allowed to wipe only the leaves with a pale pink solution as a disinfection.

A special type of processing of strawberries after harvest is in the fall. Watering with potassium permanganate at this time of the year should only be in an exceptional case - one of the treatments in the spring is missed or the green part is affected by diseases.

Before the onset of frost, in order to destroy the larvae of insects or fungal spores, watering of free areas of soil is carried out, where new seedlings will be planted in spring.
