One of the most beloved berries is strawberry. Sweet, fragrant, juicy - it appears on the shelves from the middle of spring. But it is not always possible to taste the sweetest and tastiest strawberries. Quite often the berry grows watery and has a sour taste. There are many ways in which you can grow a sweet and flavorful berry. One of them is top dressing. The features of dressings and their types will be discussed today.

Peculiarities

Many gardeners and gardeners note that even from the most productive and hybrid varieties of garden strawberries, it is not always possible to obtain the expected result. You can't expect a good harvest without regular feeding and careful plant care. The berries grow small, not juicy, and have defects. To correct these shortcomings, fertilization is necessary. It is not enough to feed the strawberry bushes only in spring and autumn; the culture is fed before the berries are set and ripened.

There is a fertilization schedule for strawberries.

  • The first feeding is done in early spring, after the snow has melted. During this period, urea is added.
  • Later, plant feeding is carried out at the end of May and in June. This is the time for the introduction of nitrogen, potassium and phosphorus compounds, iodine solution.
  • The last time the plants are fertilized after the last harvest.

Besides, make additional fertilizing during the fruiting period. This will produce large, sweet strawberries. It is at this time that plants need potassium and phosphorus. The use of potassium will accelerate the growth and development of berries, improve their taste. The presence of phosphorus helps the strawberries ripen faster. The use of other microelements can increase the yield of this crop.

It should be remembered that during fruiting, it is necessary to exclude compositions with chemical components, leaving organic matter. Mineral supplements can be used immediately after flowering when the ovary is forming.

Care should be taken to apply nitrogenous fertilizers so as not to get intensive growth of bushes instead of ripening full-fledged fruits. So, many varieties begin to release new shoots and powerful leaves, forgetting about berries.

It is necessary to feed when the fruits are crumbling, deformation and poor ripening.

Although favorable weather directly affects the ripening of fruits, fertilization will be an additional factor in obtaining a good collection of sweet berries.

Root dressing

Root feeding of strawberries should be carried out in the spring and autumn, combining it with trimming leaves, whiskers, and processing the beds. Fertilizers can be applied dry, scattering them over the surface of the beds, and then loosening the soil and watering it. Water dressing with solutions is considered more effective, which are absorbed into the soil much faster and pass directly to the roots of the culture.

For the sweetness of the berries, many experts recommend using root dressings with the addition of boric acid:

  • it is necessary to dilute a little boric acid (a pinch) in a bucket of water, adding potassium permanganate (a couple of crystals);
  • this solution is used to water the bushes at the root - about 300 ml of the prepared solution is needed for 1 bush;
  • processing is carried out before the flowering of the bushes, in May.

By adding 200 g of wood ash to the solution described above, you can get an excellent fertilizer that can strengthen the bushes themselves and promote the development of full-fledged large and sweet fruits without defects.

Pour the resulting mixture once, bringing the solution under the root.

Foliar dressing

For foliar dressing, it is recommended to use a solution with a concentration that is two times weaker than for applying under the root. To make the berry sweet, you should feed the strawberry with a mixture of essential trace elements. It is recommended to carry out a similar procedure during the period of pouring the fruits, their ripening.

To enrich the soil, many gardeners who grow strawberries on the plot use the preparation "Gumi" or "Biohumus". The use of biologically active additives will significantly strengthen the plants.

Organic fertilizers can replace store-bought drugs. So, the use of the aforementioned boric acid has proven itself well. Application of the drug during flowering helps:

  • the formation of an ovary on the bushes;
  • strengthening flowers - they will not crumble due to strong wind or sun;
  • plants become more resistant to powdery mildew, late blight.

The main advantage of such processing is the change in the structure of the berry. It stops being watery and becomes sweet.

There are several recipes with boric acid that allow you to get a juicy and sweet berry.

To prepare a solution, you need to take boric acid in an amount of 10 grams and dissolve it in a bucket (10 l) of slightly warmed up water. Spraying with water with boric acid is carried out during flowering bushes, pouring berries. It is advisable to carry out 3 treatments within a month.

During the ripening of the crop, it is better to process the bushes with special compounds. This will allow the fruit to become juicier and sweeter.

To make a means for spraying bushes with ripening berries, you need to take:

  • water - 1 liter;
  • potassium permanganate - 2 g;
  • boric acid - 1 g;
  • potassium sulfate - 2 g.

You can also use a different fertilizer:

  • 1 liter of water;
  • 0.3 g of boric acid;
  • 1 teaspoon wood ash
  • 2 g of urea.
