Today this variety is cultivated in the south, in the Central, Northern, Ural, North Caucasian and other regions of the country, with the exception of particularly cold climatic zones.
Growing and care
With the seedling method of growing pumpkin of this variety, seeds are sown in May. The planting depth is about 3 cm, the distance between crops is about 10 cm. When the first true leaf appears, the seedlings are thinned out, and when three true leaves appear, they are planted in open ground. In this case, the distance between the pumpkins should reach about 10-15 cm.
In open ground, seeds are planted in the first decade of June according to the same scheme as in the seedling method of growing. When the first true leaf appears, the crops are thinned out.
Further care consists in regular thinning, weeding and watering of the plants. It is important to remember that if you want to grow one, but very large pumpkin, then only one ovary is left on each lash.
Requirements for soil and climatic conditions
The Arabatskaya pumpkin is one of the most unpretentious types of nutmeg vegetable in terms of growing conditions. It tolerates high temperatures and prolonged drought well. Does not need additional fertilization. However, the culture is quite susceptible to low temperatures. Therefore, it is not recommended to plant it in cold regions.
