Cortaderia is a perennial herbaceous cereal plant brought to us from South America. At home, it mainly grows in the pampas, for which it received the more popular name - pampas grass. Now you can not only freely purchase it in flower shops, but also grow it on your own garden plot.

In search of original decor for interiors and celebrations, designers turned their attention to a very decorative cortaderia. She found application in a variety of styles and compositions.

Application for wedding decor

Pampas grass is a trendy decor element that brings sophistication and sophistication to the interior. Showy, fluffy panicles on a long stem are available in white, silver, yellowish or pale pink - ideal shades for decorating wedding ceremonies. At first, the cortaderia was used mainly as a decoration for boho-style celebrations, but then the graceful plant was introduced for different directions of decor.

Wedding ceremony

Pampas grass looks wonderful on a wedding arch... Lush and delicate panicles are combined with many colors and details. Moreover, they are much cheaper than freshly cut plants.

Bulky dry bouquets look gorgeous in massive floor vases and more graceful vases on decorative columns at the exit registration of a marriage union.

Compositions

Bouquets, complemented by unusual grass, are magnificent and at the heart of the central composition on the wedding table... Even a single such decoration contributes to the fact that the table looks richer and more solemn.

Another option - graceful bouquets in transparent vases, placed on the tables. Such compositions are often complemented by sweet and buffet tables or a guest lounge area.

Hanging decorations

Pampas grass is used at weddings not only to create floral elements. Fluffy, free-floating buds will help fill the voids under the high ceilings. A great alternative to paper flowers and balloons.

Photoshoot

Beautiful photographs are obtained against the backdrop of the lush cortaderia. This is a magnificent photophone created by nature itself. You can create the most unusual combinations with fluffy grass. For example, complementing a wall of lush greenery with it, against which bright and festive pictures are obtained. Or build a volumetric geometric figure from fluffy inflorescences. And how is such an option - a swing, braided by a cortaderia? Against their background, the bride will turn out to be especially gentle, and the atmosphere of the celebration will be light and relaxed.

The bride's bouquet

Cortaderia inflorescences add splendor to the bride's bouquet, shading live buds or greenery. They add a special touch to the composition. The undoubted plus of this bouquet is its durability. It will remain intact even at the end of an active wedding event. Besides, the composition will turn out to be light, which is also important, because the bride does not part with him before the gala dinner.

Boutonnieres

The boutonniere, complemented by sprigs of pampas grass, looks brutal and restrained. This is a great option to replace traditional flowers, which are not to the taste of many grooms.... The modern accessory will fit into an informal style and will be in harmony with the classic attire of the newlywed. Bridesmaids will also be delighted with such boutonnieres.

Miniature lush compositions can not only be pinned to a dress, but also used to decorate hairstyles, attached to a ribbon or tied in the form of a bracelet on the arm.

Main dessert

Few people now surprise with a wedding cake decorated with fresh flower buds, and the inflorescences of the cortaderia on the dessert look very unusual. At the same time, you can absolutely not be afraid of its proximity to products.

Courtyardia in the interior of the apartment

Pampas grass is attractive to florists and interior designers. Long narrow leaves in the form of panicles can have different shades: bluish, silver-gray, wheat, pink, snow-white. They can be up to 2 meters long. But the most interesting for decorators are inflorescences about 30-40 centimeters long.

Just a few years ago, this dried flower was used in eco and boho interiors, but very quickly the grass showed its versatility and began to complement styles such as loft, scandi, minimalism, country and rustic.

Pampas grass fits well into themed autumn compositions as a decoration:

  • a dining table (including a festive one);

  • mantelpiece;

  • the front door (in the form of a lush wreath).

Cortaderia goes well with white pumpkin, wildflowers or garden flowers. With this plant, it is easy to create a rustic atmosphere in a room or to emphasize its understated elegance.

Dry grass also looks good as an independent decorative element.

A plant with beige panicles looks perfect in a room decorated in neutral tones. And if you want to add bright colors to the interior, you should choose pink, red or purple inflorescences.

A bouquet of several flower stalks (3 or more), placed in a vase, can transform the interior of any residential and public space... Low "panicles" look good in a glass vase on a chest of drawers or a table in the living room. The bouquet can be placed on a coffee table, a mantelpiece, or to decorate a bedroom with it. In this room, he looks especially romantic and gentle.

With the use of pampas grass, the undeservedly forgotten floor vase again found its place of honor in the interior. In it, graceful dried flowers look simply luxurious. The cortaderia in a ceramic outdoor flowerpot adorns any corner of the room, even in the hallway and bathroom.

The vessel can be chosen from metal, earthen or glass, matte or transparent, white, silver, bronze.

Due to their color, the “panicle” bouquets are ideal for neutral interiors. Dried flowers give them softness and serve as great accents in contrasting interiors, including black and white. Here they add the missing lightness, sophistication and natural charm.

Pampas grass can be called a real universal decorative element. Those who like to make compositions from dried flowers will definitely enjoy working with the cortaderia. After all, its inflorescences awaken imagination with their similarity to the feathers of an exotic bird.

How to save?

Many design lovers are interested in how to preserve the cut stems of an unusual plant. First of all, they need to be tied with a strong thread and hung in a dark, cool room, placing the inflorescences down. Darkness is the main condition for maintaining the natural color of the plant. It takes three weeks to dry the stems.

Dried panicles are very fragile and prone to shedding. So that they do not lose their natural beauty and shape, you need to use a special fixer. It can be purchased at the flower shop. If you cannot find such a remedy, you can apply any hairspray. It can be with a matte effect or with a slight sheen. In any case, the twigs look complete and aesthetically pleasing.
