The variety of yellow tomatoes Goldilocks has proven itself well as pickling, but its fruits are quite good when fresh. Other advantages include successful plant cultivation in almost all climatic zones on the territory of the Russian Federation. In the north and northwest, in the Urals and Siberia, planting is carried out exclusively under the film, in greenhouses.

Breeding history

Breeders of Agrofirma Poisk LLC worked on breeding the variety. It was officially entered into the State Register of the Russian Federation in 2009.

Description of the variety

In a Goldilocks tomato, the bush is formed from 1 or 2 tall stems. Growth continues up to 150-200 cm. The volume of deciduous cover is medium, its shade is light green. The inflorescences are simple, the fruits are formed on the brush, 10-18 ovaries each.

The main qualities of the fruit

Tomatoes are cherry-sized, each fruit weighs no more than 15-20 g. The shape of the fruit is round, regular, the skin is thin and smooth. In an unripe tomato it is green, translucent, in a ripe tomato it is yellow. The pulp is juicy inside, has a medium density and a characteristic pleasant aroma.

Taste characteristics

The Goldilocks variety is characterized by a sweet taste with a slight sourness.

Ripening and fruiting

The variety belongs to early tomatoes, it takes 95-100 days to ripen. Harvesting in most regions begins 30-45 days after planting in open ground.

Yield

Plants give up to 3.5 kg of fruits of good marketability per sq. m.

The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground

Sowing begins in the 3rd decade of March or early April. Tomatoes are transferred to open ground or a greenhouse after hardening, when a stable warm air temperature is established without the threat of frost. Usually this moment occurs in the second decade of May.

Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener will be able to harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.

Landing scheme

Plants are arranged in rows 60x30 cm. For 1 sq. m it is not recommended to plant more than 3 bushes.

Planting a tomato is a very important and painstaking business. In order to get a good harvest of tomatoes, you need to competently approach the issue of planting. When planting a tomato in the ground, it is necessary to take into account many factors - correctly determine the timing, prepare the soil, correctly calculate the distance between plants, take into account the rules of crop rotation.

Growing and care

Tomato of this variety, like other indeterminate ones, requires a full range of agrotechnical measures. The bush is formed in 1 or 2 stems. A garter, periodic pinching of shoots is also mandatory. A distinctive feature of the variety can be called the receipt of several harvest waves after the first brushes. The growth point will have to be pinched at the beginning of August.

Sowing seeds outdoors is not recommended. For successful germination, they need to create special conditions. Sowing is performed in a container or cassettes filled with a nutrient substrate. Then the seeds are kept under a film, providing them with a warm and humid environment until germination. Seedlings dive into separate containers after 14-21 days.

The tie to the support is performed immediately when transferred to open ground. It is better to keep the plant in 1 stem, regularly tearing off the leaves under the lower bunch of fruit. Watering is carried out strictly at the root, with warm water - through drip irrigation or a watering can with the divider removed. It is recommended to repeat the procedure of adding moisture every 4 days, more often in hot weather.

Plants will benefit from mulching with agrotextile or natural plant materials. Peat, sawdust, straw will do. This mulch will also be useful for additional loosening of the soil. Top dressing is needed for this variety every 14 days, with alternating slurry and mineral dry fertilizers based on potassium and phosphorus. This frequency will help the fruit gain the desired flavor and aroma.

Watering tomatoes is not difficult. After planting, the plant is watered at such intervals that the soil remains moist. In dry weather, when there is no rain for a long time, watering can be carried out every day, but usually the beds with tomatoes are irrigated 2-3 times a week.
The methods of tying tomato bushes can vary significantly, depending on the availability of available material, the method of fixation, and also the variety. In general, it is recommended to adhere to the following scheme: first, the central stems are grabbed, and then, as the fruits ripen, the lateral branches.
One of the important conditions for tomato agricultural technology is the correct formation of the bush. The formation of tomato bushes means performing the following steps: pinching, pinching, trimming the leaves, normalizing the ovaries.

A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.

It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.

Disease and pest resistance

The variety is resistant to major diseases. Preventive treatment with fungicides will only be needed during prolonged cold and wet periods. Among pests, thrips, slugs, scoops and sprout flies are the most dangerous.

Treatment and prevention of diseases and pests
When growing tomatoes in a greenhouse, diseases often occur due to a violation of the temperature regime and excessive humidity. The most common diseases are fungal (late blight, cladosporiosis, rot).
The fight against diseases and pests of tomatoes in open areas can be quite difficult. This is because nightshades are exposed to a wide variety of pathogens and insect pests.

Review overview

Many experienced gardeners have already liked the Goldilocks tomatoes. It is noted that the collection of seeds can be performed from your own harvest of fruits. According to the experience of summer residents, the first harvesting of fruits begins in July, and the low keeping quality can be improved if the tomatoes are cut with brushes. The unusual color and characteristic sweetness of this cherry tomato is also admirable, especially this combination is loved by children. Goldilocks are also praised as a pickling, snack variety - tomatoes keep their shape well, do not burst when preserved, and look very attractive.

Among the advantages discovered by vegetable growers, one can single out the good responsiveness of the plant to feeding.Bushes respond well to wood ash, manure solutions. In warm climates, ovaries form until the first frost. Late fruits can be ripened at home. Do not allow them to overripe, otherwise the skin will begin to crack.

There are practically no disadvantages of the variety. The only thing that does not suit vegetable growers too much is the very intensive growth of shoots. Tomatoes need a particularly strong support, especially during the fruiting period. Some people use a trellis for these purposes, planting plants in rows along it. When buying seeds, summer residents mention that the re-grading was included in the collection material.
