Experienced gardeners are rarely surprised given the multitude of different cultures. But among the simple varieties and hybrids, there is an interesting species called liana tomatoes. The bushes of such a culture are distinguished by intensive growth, as well as increased productivity. Tomato Jubilee Tarasenko is one of those.
Breeding history
The author of the tomato Jubilee Tarasenko was the Ukrainian amateur breeder Feodosiy Makarovich Tarasenko. This variety was bred by him on his 75th birthday. At the moment, the culture is not included in the state register. But that doesn't stop gardeners.
The main disadvantage of the unregistered variety is that agricultural firms produce large quantities of seeds under this name, but the descriptions of tomatoes, as well as the fruits obtained, differ. Therefore, it is best to buy the material from a specialized store.
Tomato Jubilee Tarasenko is a liana-shaped indeterminate variety intended for cultivation in greenhouses or in garden beds. Suitable for any region, but may require cover in colder areas.
Description of the variety
A tall liana-shaped bush stretches up to 200-300 cm. It is distinguished by good growth force and active ejection of side shoots. The stem is powerful, well developed. The foliage is very weak. The leaves are large and have a dark green tint. It is recommended to form this type into one stem.
The inflorescence is simple, formed in a bunch. Complex brushes. On the lower brushes, up to 40 fruits can form, on the upper ones - 20-30. The first brush is laid at level 9 of the sheet. The next ones are every 2.
Gardeners note one big minus of the culture: due to the specifics of the growth of the bush, it is very difficult to care for it. Many unknowingly cannot form the stem and crown correctly.
Tomato Jubilee Tarasenko is credited with high yields, good immunity to fungal diseases, as well as the universal use of the fruit.
The main qualities of the fruit
The fruits are collected in large clusters, so their weight will be different. The weight of vegetables can be from 70 to 200 g. It rarely happens that identical berries form in one bunch.
The fruits are uniform in shape: round and often with a small nose. The color of the peel is orange-red, it is thin but very strong. This allows you to store the berries in a dark and dry place for up to 1.5 months, as well as transport them over long distances in boxes. The berries do not wrinkle or crack.
The pulp is dense, fleshy. Inside, two large seed chambers with medium seeds are formed, which can be used for subsequent propagation of the crop.
Tomato Jubilee Tarasenko has a universal purpose: it is suitable both for fresh consumption and for preparing various hot dishes. The fruits are also canned and pickled or used for juices, sauces or tomato pastes.
Taste characteristics
Gardeners claim that the culture has a rich and pronounced sweet taste with a slight sourness.
Ripening and fruiting
The Yubileiny Tarasenko variety belongs to mid-season crops. Fruit ripening takes 111-115 days. Fruiting itself is extended, lasts about 1.5 months and runs from July to August. In colder regions, picking tomatoes of this type is recommended during the period of brown ripeness. Then the fruits are left to ripen in a dark place. The berries will not lose their taste characteristics. Moreover, this procedure will help the bushes unload faster.
Yield
The main feature of the culture is that it is high-yielding. Summer residents remove 15-20 kg of tomatoes from one bush. These indicators are not the limit for the variety. If the crop is properly cared for and the weather conditions are optimal, yields can increase.
The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground
At the beginning of March, seedlings are prepared. For sowing, you can choose a small container. Everything is pre-processed and disinfected. The soil is dried in the oven or purchased from the store, and the seeds are soaked in a weak solution of potassium permanganate. After that, the material is dried and treated with growth stimulants.
Shallow grooves are made in the soil and seeds are laid at a distance of 2 cm from each other. Then the soil is leveled and watered with water through a spray bottle. The boxes are covered with foil and put away in a warm and dry place. The temperature under the film should be + 25 ° C. After all the seeds have hatched, the cellophane is removed, and the boxes are placed on the windowsill.
You need to dive the variety twice. The first time a pick is made when the bushes are transplanted into a deeper container for further development. And the second - already upon landing at a permanent place.
A few days before the transplant, the selected area is dug up and abundantly moistened with water. It is best to plant seedlings between May 15 and June 5. Bushes should not be more than 60 days old.
Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener will be able to harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.
Landing scheme
Tarasenko described in detail the agrotechnical growing conditions for his varieties, where the main point was always indicated that the bushes needed freedom and a large space. Therefore, seedlings should be planted according to the scheme 60x50 cm.
Growing and care
For a good harvest, standard plant care procedures must be followed.
- The first watering is carried out 7 days after transplanting the seedlings into the soil. During this time, young seedlings will get stronger and get used to new weather conditions and climate. Irrigation regime - 2 times a week. It is produced abundantly, but so that the roots are not oversaturated with moisture. To facilitate this process, the soil can be covered with peat or sawdust. The main thing is to dry the mulch and replace it as needed. If there is no mulch, then after watering, the soil is loosened next to the bush and in the aisles, and then all excess weeds are removed.
- Many gardeners prefer to apply mixed fertilizers. Among the dressings, a solution of mullein or bird droppings is most often used together with phosphorus, potassium and nitrogen. It is best to avoid chlorine-containing substances as well as fresh manure.
- Difficulties for many are caused by the formation of a bush. It is recommended to leave 1-2 stems. Due to the active growth, side shoots are removed regularly, almost every week. For removal, stepchildren should not exceed a height of 10-13 cm. It is best to pinch them. Strong thickening of the shoots will certainly lead to the formation of fungal diseases.
- The stem and crown must be tied to the support. Otherwise, the stem of the plant may break under the weight of the fruit.
- In order to avoid fungal infections, the greenhouse is ventilated daily, and the temperature in it is also maintained no higher than 30 ° C.
- Several times a season, preventive spraying is carried out with such agents as "Fitosporin" or "Hom". To fight insects, spraying with soapy water or Prestige is chosen. All procedures should preferably be carried out in dry weather.
A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.
It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.
