The varietal series "Minusinskiye Tomaty" is the pride of not only the city, but the entire Krasnoyarsk Territory. Connoisseurs and collectors especially highlight the Yablochny Minusinsk variety of folk selection. This is a collection family tomato, distinguished by its amazing shapes, large size, and excellent unforgettable taste. The productivity indicators are also high.
Breeding history
Apple Minusinskiy is the result of the so-called folk selection. This means that the emphasis here is primarily not on the external (marketable) appearance, but on the characteristics of taste and other quality features. The homeland of the variety, respectively, is the city of Minusinsk, Krasnoyarsk Territory.
Description of the variety
The bushes of Yablochny Minusinsky differ in an indeterminate type of growth, therefore they grow quite high, up to 2.5 m, but most often they rarely reach such a mark, mainly this is an indicator of 1.8 m. The foliage of the bushes can be called lush. Given the origin, the crop will grow better in a greenhouse environment.
The main qualities of the fruit
The tomatoes of the variety in question are of a very original shape - flat-round, flattened at the poles quite a bit, and near the stalk have a characteristic ribbing, which gives a kind of decoration to the fruit. Upon reaching full maturity, the color of the tomatoes will become rich, pink-red. If you let the tomatoes hang on the garden bed longer, they will turn red and crimson. The fruits are quite large, the mass of a tomato usually reaches half a kilogram.
Taste characteristics
The taste of the Minusinsk Apple Tomato is rather sweet, its pulp is similar to that of a watermelon. The aroma is delicious, intense. The purpose of the fruit is universal. Mostly used fresh, sauces and juices will be the most delicious from processing.
Ripening and fruiting
The tomato variety belongs to crops with an average ripening period. Fruits are harvested until the end of August.
Yield
As already noted, Yablochny Minusinskiy is a high-yielding variety. Experienced gardeners collect up to 6 kg of large tomatoes from each bush.
The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground
Sowing seeds for seedlings should be done in March.
Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener will be able to harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.
Landing scheme
It is very important not to thicken the space when planting the Apple Minusinskiy. Gardeners recommend planting the optimal number of plants per 1 m2 - no more than three.
Growing and care
In order to get high yields of Apple Minusinsk, it is very important to form the bush correctly from the beginning. The optimal number of stems for cultivation is two. At the same time, fixation (tying) and pinching of the bush are periodically carried out.
All excess shoots are ruthlessly removed in the same way as a certain part of the leaves (the main thing is that nutrients go to the fruits, and not be spent on the green mass). Minusinsk variety is not picky about the soil - almost any will do. Top dressing is carried out only when necessary.
During fruiting, the tomato is often not watered, and the soil must be mulched to retain moisture.
A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.
It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.
Disease and pest resistance
Ripe fruits are stored quite well, and are also highly resistant to various ailments and pest attacks. However, despite the excellent immunity of the Apple Minusinsk tomato, preventive measures in the form of treatment with fungicides and insecticides are important.
Provided that the gardener or farmer observes all of the listed, absolutely simple rules, the crop obtained from the beds will certainly delight with its indicators of quantity and, most importantly, quality.
