Tall bushes are especially popular with gardeners. The Tomato Leader of the Redskins belongs to just such varieties.

Breeding history

In 2005, in Novosibirsk, breeders V.N.Dederko and O.V. Postnikova presented the mid-season variety Leader of the Redskins for entry into the State Register. The culture test took place over two years, and in 2007 it was approved for use.

The main feature of the variety is that it can be grown in any territory of Russia.

Description of the variety

Culture is indeterminate. The bush is tall, the average height is 100-150 cm. The stem is powerful, thick. Due to active growth, the plant must be tied to a trellis system or to pegs.

There are few leaves, they are small, dark green in color. There is roughness on both sides of the sheets. There is a barely noticeable serration along the edging.

The number of stems is 1-2. If one stem is formed, then all stepchildren should be removed. If you plan to leave 2 stems, then unnecessary stepsons are removed.

The first inflorescence is formed at a height of 6-7 leaves from the ground level. Subsequent - in one.

The advantages include:

  • yield;
  • frost resistance;
  • immunity to certain diseases;
  • taste qualities;
  • shelf life;
  • transportability;
  • availability in the purchase of seeds.

The main qualities of the fruit

The fruits are large and round. On the lower branches, the weight of a tomato can be 350 g, the higher to the crown, the more the fruits become smaller. The mass of small fruits can be equal to 100-161 g.

The peel is medium-dense, ribbed, pink in color, may crack. The pulp is juicy, dense, not watery, slightly loose. The number of cameras is from 5 or more. The seeds are medium, but there are not many of them.

The purpose of tomatoes is universal. They can be eaten raw, canned, prepared, sauces, tomato pastes and juices.

Taste characteristics

Tomato Leader of the Redskins has a pleasant sweet taste.

Ripening and fruiting

The variety belongs to mid-season crops. The ripening period is 100 days. Harvesting takes place at the end of July - beginning of August.

Yield

From 3 to 6 fruits are formed on one cluster. 2.9 kg is collected from 1m2.

The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground

Before planting seeds, they must be soaked. Melted water is poured into a small container, then the seeds are immersed in it. Those seeds that float can be thrown away, since there is nothing in them. The remaining seeds must be soaked in a weak solution of potassium permanganate.

The preparation of seedling boxes does not take much time. The depth of the hole is 3 cm. The soil is moistened before sowing.

The boxes must be covered with foil or transparent glass. The seeds will hatch in 5-7 days. After the seedlings have sprout, the film or glass should be removed. The picking of the bushes should be done when 2 strong leaves are formed at the seedling.

The average room temperature should be +20 degrees. If the temperature is higher, then the seedlings will begin to actively grow in height. Do not leave seedlings in the sun for a long time, as young leaves can get burned.

In May, seedlings can be taken out to the site for acclimatization. It is worth starting with 15 minutes a day, gradually increasing your time outdoors.

It is necessary to plant bushes in late May or early June, when the air temperature warms up to +16 degrees at night.Otherwise, young seedlings will simply die.

Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener will be able to harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.

Landing scheme

The site should be prepared in advance. This is especially true for pegs or trellises. The height of the bushes when planting in the ground should be 30 cm. But if all the rules were not followed at the time of preparation, then the height of some bushes can reach 50-60 cm. If this happens, then the bush is immediately tied up.

A hole is dug up to a depth of no more than 20 cm. A little peat can be poured onto the bottom.

Many gardeners plant the tomato Leader of the Redskins in a checkerboard pattern. Planting four bushes per square meter is recommended.

Then each seedling is poured with 1 liter of warm water under the root. The next watering should take place in 1 week. This is necessary so that the root system grows deep into the soil, thereby taking root. If you water earlier, the roots will begin to grow sideways, depriving themselves of the opportunity to independently search for moisture.

Planting a tomato is a very important and painstaking business. In order to get a good harvest of tomatoes, you need to competently approach the issue of planting. When planting a tomato in the ground, it is necessary to take into account many factors - correctly determine the timing, prepare the soil, correctly calculate the distance between plants, take into account the rules of crop rotation.

Growing and care

In order for the harvest to be good and healthy, certain points must be observed.

  • Normalized watering. It should take place once a week. If it's rainy season, then as the soil dries out.
  • Since the variety produces many stepchildren, pinching should be done as needed. The lower leaves are also removed for good air circulation.
  • Top dressing is carried out several times per season. Nitrogen is introduced first. It helps the stem to grow stronger and develop well. Then potassium and fluorine are added when the first ovary appears and the fruits are formed.
  • Once a week, after watering, all weeds are removed and the soil around the bush is loosened. If desired, the site can be mulched.
Watering tomatoes is not difficult. After planting, the plant is watered at such intervals that the soil remains moist. In dry weather, when there is no rain for a long time, watering can be carried out every day, but usually the beds with tomatoes are irrigated 2-3 times a week.
The methods of tying tomato bushes can vary significantly, depending on the availability of available material, the method of fixation, and also the variety. In general, it is recommended to adhere to the following scheme: first, the central stems are grabbed, and then, as the fruits ripen, the lateral branches.
One of the important conditions for tomato agricultural technology is the correct formation of the bush. The formation of tomato bushes means performing the following steps: pinching, pinching, trimming the leaves, normalizing the ovaries.

A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.

It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.

Treatment and prevention of diseases and pests
When growing tomatoes in a greenhouse, diseases often occur due to a violation of the temperature regime and excessive humidity. The most common diseases are fungal (late blight, cladosporium, rot).
The fight against diseases and pests of tomatoes in open areas can be quite difficult. This is because nightshades are exposed to a wide variety of pathogens and insect pests.
