The dream of every gardener is to grow large-fruited tomatoes with incredibly high taste on the site. These types include the Voevoda tomato variety, which is impressive in size and taste, but is absolutely unpretentious in care.

Description of the variety

Tomato Voevoda is a hybrid variety that will delight you with huge and tasty tomatoes. The plant is a tall shrub with an indeterminate type of growth, which reaches a height of 100 cm. The bush has a powerful stem, a moderately deep root system and high thickening, which is created by dark green leaves of the usual shape. Since the bush is tall, and the fruits are incredibly large, you cannot do without tying to a support. In addition, it is imperative to carry out pinching, and breeders recommend the formation of a bush in one stem.

The main qualities of the fruit

Tomatoes have a rounded shape with a noticeable flattening on both sides, a solid bright red color when ripe and an incredibly large weight - subject to the rules of agricultural technology, the mass of one tomato can be 500-1000 grams. In an immature state, the tomato has a light green color. The peel of tomatoes is soft, smooth with a matte sheen. Cracking of tomatoes is observed only in conditions of insufficient watering.

Taste characteristics

The taste characteristics of tomatoes are quite impressive. Voevoda's tomatoes are fragrant, endowed with a bright taste, pronounced sweetness without a hint of sourness. The pulp of the fruit is fleshy, coarse-grained, juicy. This variety is versatile, therefore it is suitable for fresh consumption, as well as sauces, canned salads and juices.

Ripening and fruiting

The Voevoda variety belongs to the mid-season class. From the moment the first shoots appear until the tasting of tomatoes, it takes about 110 days. Ripening occurs gradually, so you can enjoy fresh and aromatic tomatoes for a long time. From the end of July to the beginning of August, the active phase of fruiting begins, the duration of which depends on the climatic conditions where the culture grows.

Yield

The yield indicators are high. They fluctuate depending on the growing conditions - in open ground - moderate, in greenhouses - higher.

The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground

Sowing seeds for seedlings is carried out from mid-March to early April. It will take 45-55 days to grow bushes suitable for transplanting into open ground or a greenhouse. It is recommended to grow bushes in a room with a temperature of + 15 ... 18 degrees. The first week after sowing, you can provide a greenhouse effect to accelerate growth, and then remove the polyethylene.

In addition, it is important that the room has good lighting. With the appearance of 2-3 true leaves on the bush, a dive is carried out. A full-fledged and ripe for planting in open ground is the bush on which 6-7 leaves are formed. Before planting in a permanent place of growth, it is recommended to harden the bushes.

Planting of seedlings is carried out at a time when the soil warms up to + 14 ... 16 degrees, and there will be night frosts behind. As a rule, this is the second half of May. The formation and tying of bushes occurs 10 days after planting in open ground.

Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener can harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.

Landing scheme

It is recommended to plant bushes in the ground in cloudy weather, when there is no scorching sun. There are 3-5 bushes per 1 m2. The 50x70 cm scheme is considered ideal for planting.

Planting a tomato is a very important and painstaking business. In order to get a good harvest of tomatoes, you need to competently approach the issue of planting. When planting a tomato in the ground, it is necessary to take into account many factors - correctly determine the timing, prepare the soil, correctly calculate the distance between plants, take into account the rules of crop rotation.

Growing and care

For tomatoes, it is better to choose an area that is protected from drafts, but illuminated by the sun. The soil should be fertile, moist, breathable and fertilized. Comprehensive care consists of a number of activities, including regular watering, loosening and plowing of the soil, fertilizing with mineral and organic fertilizers, forming and tying bushes, as well as preventing diseases.

Watering tomatoes is not difficult. After planting, the plant is watered at such intervals that the soil remains moist. In dry weather, when it does not rain for a long time, watering can be carried out every day, but usually the beds with tomatoes are irrigated 2-3 times a week.
The methods of tying tomato bushes can vary significantly, depending on the availability of available material, the method of fixation, and also the variety. In general, it is recommended to adhere to the following scheme: first, the central stems are grabbed, and then, as the fruits ripen, the lateral branches.
One of the important conditions for tomato agricultural technology is the correct formation of the bush. The formation of tomato bushes means performing the following steps: pinching, pinching, trimming the leaves, normalizing the ovaries.

A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.

It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.

Disease and pest resistance

The seed crop has immunity, but reliable protection against a number of viruses, diseases and pest infestations will not hurt. As a preventive measure, spraying with special solutions is carried out.

Treatment and prevention of diseases and pests
When growing tomatoes in a greenhouse, diseases often occur due to a violation of the temperature regime and excessive humidity. The most common diseases are fungal (late blight, cladosporium, rot).
The fight against diseases and pests of tomatoes in open areas can be quite difficult. This is because nightshades are exposed to a wide variety of pathogens and insect pests.

Resistant to adverse weather conditions

The variety has been shown to be resistant to temperature fluctuations, however, sharp changes can negatively affect the quality and quantity of the crop. In regions with a stably warm climate, the culture is planted in open ground, and in the northern strip, planting in greenhouses is recommended.

Growing regions

This variety quickly adapts to all climatic conditions and types of soil, therefore it is able to grow and give high yields in almost all regions of Russia and Ukraine.
