Many experienced gardeners choose indeterminate crops as they are easy to maintain. These crops have a high yield and excellent taste. The Spasskaya Tower tomato belongs to just such varieties.
Breeding history
The originator was the Chelyabinsk company "Heterozinskaya selection". The authors were Steinert T.V., Teplova N.S., Aliluev A.V., Avdeenko L.M., Poldnikova V.Yu. : 02 and 5-288 / 3. At the end of 2018, the resulting hybrid was sent for testing. In 2020, the culture was entered in the State Register and approved for use.
The Spasskaya Tower tomato belongs to indeterminate varieties and is intended for cultivation in many regions of Russia in closed or open ground.
Description of the variety
The bushes of the Spasskaya Tower have unlimited growth power. Indoors, the height of the stem reaches 150 cm, in open ground, it is slightly less, about 1 m. Due to active growth and a semi-spreading crown, it is best to tie the culture up immediately after transplanting into the ground. This will help to avoid any breakage of the stem and branches under the weight of the fruit or the bush itself. In this case, the stem is considered large and strong.
Leaves are ordinary, medium. Light green in color. There are a lot of them on the bush, so they partially cover the fruits from the sun's rays. If the leaf plates begin to bend or curl up, then the plant suffers from excess moisture or, conversely, from its lack.
The recommended number of stems during formation is 1-2. The inflorescence is of a simple type, is laid at the level of the 7th leaf. Subsequent - every 1-2. The number of brushes on the main stem is up to 8 pieces. 5-6 fruits are formed on one hand.
Gardeners note that the hybrid has a good immune system, external qualities and high yields. The variety is characterized by long-term storage and transportability. The fruit tastes good.
And also tomatoes, which are unripe, can ripen normally in a dark, warm place without loss of quality.
The disadvantages of the culture are typical for all indeterminate varieties - tying and pinching the stem. Many summer residents consider it a disadvantage that the culture cannot be propagated by seeds from the obtained tomatoes.
The main qualities of the fruit
The shape of the fruit is round, slightly flattened at the stalk. From it, a weak ribbing is also felt along the fetus. The weight of vegetables is 200-250 g, there are more weighty fruits of 300-400 g. This happens only with proper care of the crop and most often only once a season. The diameter of a tomato is 12-14 cm on average.
The shade of the fruit is red, unripe vegetables are light green in color with a small spot at the stalk.
The peel is dense, does not crack. Thanks to this, the variety is well transported or processed.
The pulp is fleshy, firm, of medium density. Inside, 2 large chambers with small empty seeds are formed. Since it is a hybrid, the seeds are hardly noticeable.
The variety is universal, therefore it is suitable for vegetable salads or smoothies, juices, sauces, pickling and pickling.
Gardeners note that fruits can be stored for up to 30 days in a dry and warm room and up to 90 days in the refrigerator.
Taste characteristics
The culture is characterized by a sweet taste with a slight, barely noticeable sourness.
Ripening and fruiting
Tomato Spasskaya Tower belongs to the group of early ripening varieties. From flowering to harvest, it takes from 100 to 105 days. The number of days can increase to 115 or more, it all depends on weather conditions and the place of cultivation.
Harvesting occurs in late July or early August. It stretches into several stages.
Yield
The crop is productive, and with proper care, 10.4 kg of tomatoes are removed from 1 m2.
The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground
Sowing time will depend on the growing region. If these are southern latitudes, then there is no need to germinate seeds. The material is immediately sown on the beds, and after 2.5-3 months they are harvested.
In colder climates, without preliminary preparation of seedlings, a culture cannot be grown. Therefore, in April, seeds are sown in seedling boxes. Since the variety is a hybrid, it reproduces only with purchased material. This means that no additional processing is needed.
The soil is poured into the seedling boxes together with fertilizers, and holes are formed. One seed is placed in the holes, and everything is covered with earth. After that, it is poured abundantly with water and covered with foil. The optimum temperature for growing seeds should be +25 degrees.
When the seedlings have sprouted, the film is removed, and the containers are placed on the windowsill. At this time, the first active phase of growth takes place. It is important to observe the light regime here, which should be at least 10-12 hours. After the seedlings are cut into separate containers, the control of sunlight remains just as important, but in a more moderate amount - 5-6 hours. If you leave the seedlings in the light for longer, then the bushes will stretch up strongly.
Watering is done once a week along with fertilizers.
10 days before transplanting, the seedlings are taken outside for acclimatization. At this time, the site is being prepared. It is dug up and abundantly moistened with water. Wells are formed, on the bottom of which you can pour ammonium nitrate. After transplanting the bushes, they are watered with 1-2 buckets of warm water, and the next watering is carried out only after 5-7 days.
Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener can harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.
Landing scheme
For normalized growth and ease of caring for the crop, the bushes are planted according to the 30x50 cm scheme. They try to place 3-4 plants per 1 m2.
A peg 160 cm high is driven in next to each stem, and a young plant is immediately tied to it. Since the largest fruits can ripen below, the lower branches are tied up after the formation of ovaries.
Growing and care
The Spasskaya Tower variety needs easy maintenance.
The bushes are watered with strictly warm, settled water, no more than twice a week. In dry and hot summers, irrigation increases up to 3-4 times, provided that the soil is completely dry. Otherwise, there is a chance to waterlogged the soil, which will cause the seedlings to hurt. Excess moisture is also a breeding ground for pests.
Top dressing is applied several times per season. Its peak falls on the moment of formation and ripening of fruits. For fertilizers, poultry manure with a small addition of potassium sulfate is most often used. They are fed with a weak solution of potassium humate.
Pickling takes place once a week. The formation of a bush begins when the first shoot is formed under the first flower brush. It is left, since the bush will consist of two stems. And all other side shoots are removed when they reach a length of 4 cm.
Loosening and weeding is carried out every week. If there is no time for this, then the soil is mulched.
Diseases and pests
The Spasskaya Tower tomato is resistant to a number of fungal diseases. But gardeners recommend several times per season to carry out preventive spraying, for example, with copper oxychloride. It will help to avoid late blight, and also act as a fertilizer. And also sprayed with copper sulfate.
A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.
It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.
