The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground
Seedlings can be sown in mid-April. Young plants are transferred to the ground when it has warmed up enough, and at least 6 leaves have formed on the bushes.
Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener can harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.
Landing scheme
The most popular planting scheme is 3-4 Inca Treasure bushes per 1 sq. m.
Growing and caring
The seeds of the described variety are placed in pots or boxes at least 8 cm deep. In order for the tomatoes to begin to germinate, the temperature in the room must not drop below 16 ° C. Another important factor is soil quality. It must consist of components that retain moisture well, while the earth must be light, otherwise the seeds will simply rot.
There are already ready-made mixtures on sale, but you can prepare one yourself. We take in equal parts coarse sand, peat and humus or compost. All materials used for the production of seedlings must be sterile to minimize the risk of certain diseases.
Tomato seeds The Inca treasure is evenly spread on a prepared base and covered with a layer of peat 0.5 cm thick. Several times a day they should be sprayed with a spray bottle so that the soil does not dry out. Experts advise covering the containers with glass, especially if the seedlings are kept on the window.
If the seeds are not allowed to dry and the temperature is kept at the optimum (25 ° C), sunrises will appear in a week. After the sprouts appear, the temperature in the room must be kept no higher than 20 ° C. This will avoid overgrowing and pulling the stems out. Seedlings dive into separate pots with a diameter of 8-10 cm when the first leaves appear. After 2 weeks, give the Inca Treasure tomatoes a small amount of fertilizer.
Remember that seedlings require 6-8 hours of light a day to grow properly. A week before planting young plants in the ground, they must be taken out into fresh air for several hours a day for hardening.
Hardened bushes Inca treasures are transplanted into soil or plastic greenhouses. It is worth transferring only plants with thick stems (4 mm in diameter), at least 15 cm high. A good, strong seedling of this variety has 5-8 leaves, weak specimens may not take up or will grow and bear fruit poorly. Tomatoes The Inca treasure with high vigor is planted in rows, keeping the distance between the bushes 40-80 cm.
It is necessary to remove the seedlings carefully so as not to damage the root system. Each bush is placed at a depth of 25-30 cm so that the entire root and stem of 2-3 cm are underground. Then the tomatoes are carefully sprinkled with soil, recesses are formed around the main stem and watered.
Both seedlings and adult tomatoes of this variety require regular and abundant watering. Pour 10-15 liters of water under each plant, and during the period of fruit growth, it is worth increasing the irrigation dose to 20 liters. A sign of moisture deficiency is leaf curling, and in extreme cases, shoot necrosis may appear. Excess water and improper irrigation technique are equally harmful. Never moisten tomato leaves Inca treasure, as the risk of gray rot and potato plague increases. Use warm water for irrigation.
For the correct growth of tomatoes of the described variety, nitrogen is required, and for the formation of large and tasty fruits - potassium and phosphorus. The main dose of nutrients is supplied to the plants along with watering. It is also advised to use organic matter, which has been laid out since the fall, and then dug up the area where the Inca Treasure tomatoes will grow. After planting, you can feed the bushes with a decoction of nettle and comfrey, or use complex mineral fertilizers designed specifically for growing tomatoes.
Due to the size of the fruit of the Inca Treasure, tomatoes form into 1 or 2 stems. It is worth removing all lateral shoots, since the best quality fruits are formed only on the main stem. In order not to overload the plant, it is recommended to leave no more than 4 inflorescences on each tomato bush of this variety. All unnecessary side shoots are removed before they reach 3-4 cm in length. To get large fruits of the same size, it is also necessary to thin out the ovaries so that no more than 5 of them remain in each group.
The lower leaves are also removed, as they are often the cause of disease.
A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.
It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.
Disease and pest resistance
As mentioned above, this variety has excellent immunity to the most common diseases:
- late blight;
- alternaria;
- cracking of the fruit;
- fungal diseases;
- verticillosis;
- TMV;
- fusarium wilting.
Resistant to adverse weather conditions
This variety is considered heat-resistant.
