Bendrik Cream is an unpretentious collection variety suitable for different climates. Differs in high productivity, small beautiful plum-shaped tomatoes. They are used in cooking fresh and for preparations: salting, drying, freezing.
There are two varieties of Bendrick Cream - with yellow and red fruits.
The yellow variety is recommended for dietary nutrition in cases of colon disease (colitis) and ulcers.
Breeding history
Created by a private breeder in 2014 in the Chernihiv region (Ukraine). Author A. N. Bendrikov. Bred when crossing the yellow De-Barao tomato with the Red American variety.
Description of the variety
The bushes are medium-sized, up to 150 cm high, semi-spreading, the number of branches is average, the foliage is medium, the leaves are small and standard in shape. The type of growth is determinant. The inflorescence is complex, on the first and second clusters 25-30 pcs are tied. cream. The weight of such a brush can be up to 2 kg, they can withstand the load and do not break.
The main qualities of the fruit
Small in size, weighing 80-120 g, often all the same in a bunch. The shape is round or elongated. The pulp is dense, fleshy, not juicy, the skin is strong under it there is a significant compaction. The color is red or yellow. There are few seeds. There may be small voids inside the pulp. Tomatoes are not damaged during transportation, they are kept fresh throughout the winter, the seeds do not germinate.
Taste characteristics
Refined sweetish rich and harmonious taste
Ripening and fruiting
Mid-season in terms of ripening time, from the appearance of the first shoots to harvest, 100-110 days pass. Fruiting is somewhat extended.
Yield
The variety is high-yielding. In the open field, 2.5-3 kg are removed from the plant, in the greenhouse - 4 kg. Ripe tomatoes can hang on the branches for up to 25 days.
The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground
They are planted on seedlings in April or early May, this is 65-70 days before transfer to a permanent place. The seeds are disinfected with a weak solution of potassium permanganate, soaked for 5-6 hours in Epin's solution, then transferred to a damp sponge or cloth for germination. Then they are planted in boxes 5-6 cm high with drainage holes to a depth of 1.5 cm and covered with foil. The soil should include: garden turf, peat, sand, humus, each at least 10% of the total composition.
The variety is distinguished by good germination. After the emergence of seedlings, the containers are exposed under a fluorescent lamp for 5-7 days or taken out in a cool room overnight. The sprouts are watered with warm, settled water every 5 days. They dive when the second true leaf appears immediately on the garden bed.
The planting site is prepared in advance: 200 g of vermicompost, a handful of humus and 1 tbsp. l. wood ash. The holes are made 15 cm deep and watered abundantly. Then bushes are planted and mulched with cut grass. After planting, the seedlings can still be watered 1-2 times.
They are also planted in a seedless way, in this case the seeds are sown in early May on the beds under the film.
Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener will be able to harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.
Landing scheme
An interval of 25-30 (in open ground) or 30x40 cm (in a greenhouse) is made between plants, a distance of 110-120 cm between rows. m you can plant 3-4 tomatoes.
Growing and care
The culture prefers a sunny and draft-free location. As it grows, the bush is tied to a trellis or a strong post. The plant is formed into 1 trunk, removing all stepchildren. The tip is pinched over the 3rd brush. For the formation of a larger number of ovaries, they are sprayed with "Bioglobin" or boric acid.
Cover in hot weather. Watering is very rare, only if the soil dries out. The originator recommends not to water at all, stimulating the development of a deep vertical root in tomatoes.
The beds are mulched and between the rows with sawdust, straw, peat, they are laid in a layer of 7-10 cm. At the stage of blanche maturity of the fruits, the bushes are spudded, pouring a small ridge - this is how excess moisture is removed. If during the ripening period there is a drought, and then a heavy downpour passes, then the originator advises - to cut off the lateral roots at a distance of 12-15 cm from the stem with the tip of a shovel. This is to keep the tomatoes from cracking.
As neighbors, you can plant a row of onions and carrots between the bushes to protect against pests.
A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.
It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.
Disease and pest resistance
The variety is distinguished by high resistance to late blight. For prophylaxis against other diseases, chopped celandine is poured into the irrigation groove, once a decade they are sprayed with an infusion of wood ash and preparations: "Mikosan-V", "Thanos", "Quadris".
Resistant to adverse weather conditions
It perfectly tolerates direct sunlight, has a high resistance to burns. But during pollination from excessive heat, fruits may not set; to protect against this, it is recommended to cover with a white spanbond. In cold weather, open beds are covered with polyethylene.
Growing regions
Suitable for the southern regions of the Russian Federation, Crimea, Ukraine. In the middle lane, permanent or temporary shelter is needed.
Review overview
Gardeners note the high yield of this tomato, it is very often used for canning: the tomato is ideal in consistency - dense and fleshy, the peel is strong, does not burst from hot brine. There are observations that the variety in the middle lane tolerates frosts in May well, after which it sets a lot of fruits and they are very tasty. And some people think that Bendrick Cream has a bland taste.
