Like many other crops bred by Siberian scientists, the Semyonovna variety pleasantly amazes gardeners with its unpretentious care, unique taste properties, versatility and a decent level of yield. It also has a number of other advantages, which will certainly be of interest to newcomers to the gardening business.

Breeding history

An early ripe variety of tomatoes was obtained by the works of Siberian specialists - V.N. Gubko, I.S.Salmina, T.V. Steinert, O.A. Zhitnekovskaya, A.V. Alilueva, L.M. Avdeenko In the State Register since 2019. In the process of work, scientists set a goal for themselves - to get a plant with certain characteristics:

  • with early ripening of tomatoes for picking ripe fruits during a short summer period;

  • with a high degree of productivity;

  • the opportunity to successfully cultivate culture in various regions of both the Urals and Siberia;

  • sought to obtain a plant that is unpretentious to growing conditions, is resistant to temperature fluctuations, as well as to high levels of soil and air moisture.

To the credit of the Siberians, they managed to breed such a successful variety.

Description of the variety

The culture is determinant, early maturing - a little more than 3 months pass from the time of germination of seeds to picking up ripe fruits. In growth, it is limited - the bushes are low-growing, compact, medium-sized shoots reach 45-55 cm.The stems are slightly leafy, and the foliage is medium-sized, slightly elongated, narrow, wrinkled, with small-sized teeth, with an implicit surface gloss, dark emerald shades.

The inflorescences are simple, racemose, each forming 3-6 ovaries. For the first time, a bunch of fruits forms above 5-6 leaves, and the subsequent ones - through 2 true leaves.

The culture was created for cultivation in open and closed soils, and for its intended purpose for fresh use. The presentation is excellent.

The main advantages of culture:

  • early maturation;

  • wonderful appearance of fruits and their excellent taste properties;

  • no need for pinching and garter;

  • the presence of a high level of resistance to sudden temperature changes, excessive soil moisture and high air humidity;

  • resistance to late blight;

  • high transportability and keeping quality;

  • versatility in the appointment and use of fruits;

  • the ability to collect your own seeds for new plantings.

The small size of the bushes does not allow for significant yields.

The main qualities of the fruit

In configuration, the fruits are round, slightly ribbed, with a dense, smooth, shiny and thin skin. Unripe fruits are light green, and ripe fruits are bright red. Thanks to their strong skin, ripe tomatoes do not crack, they perfectly tolerate long-term transportation, and are stored for a long time in the conditions required for this.

The average weight of a ripe fruit is about 120 g. Consistency is fleshy, with thick septa; inside there are 2-3 seed chambers with a small amount of seeds.

The number of clusters on the main stem is 6-7, and the number of tomatoes on one cluster is 7-8. The stalks of plants have articulations.

Taste characteristics

The ripe fruits of the Semyonovna variety are sweet and sour, with a typical tomato flavor, with a sugar acid index of 9.8.

Ripening and fruiting

Maturation time - early (96 days). Fruiting is long-term, with the timing of fruit picking in July-August.

Yield

The variety is fruitful - 4.2 kg / sq. m.

The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground

Sowing seeds for seedlings is done in March, and seedlings in the ground - in May-June.

Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener can harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.

Landing scheme

We recommend planting seedlings in a checkerboard pattern, since in this case the bushes will not interfere with each other, and sufficient space is formed between them for air circulation. A typical planting scheme of a culture is up to 6 bushes per 1 m2.

Planting a tomato is a very important and painstaking business. In order to get a good harvest of tomatoes, you need to competently approach the issue of planting. When planting a tomato in the ground, it is necessary to take into account many factors - correctly determine the timing, prepare the soil, correctly calculate the distance between plants, take into account the rules of crop rotation.

Growing and care

The timing of planting a culture should be controlled depending on the area of its cultivation, it is not recommended to allow overgrowth of seedlings - this is fraught with the occurrence of diseases. You need to plant seeds 50-55 days before planting seedlings in open soil.

In the process of disembarking, we recommend that you adhere to a number of rules.

  1. Disinfection of seeds before planting is a mandatory procedure. It will rid the culture of various diseases in later periods of growth and development. To do this, the seeds are soaked in a 1% manganese solution (1 g of manganese per 100 g of liquid) for 30 minutes, after which they are dried.

  2. To accelerate the germination process, seeds need to be germinated. For this purpose, use cheesecloth folded in 3-4 layers, soak it and squeeze it slightly. Seeds are distributed on one side of it, after which they are covered with the other end of gauze. Seeds are placed in a warm, non-sunny place. Within 3-5 days, the seeds will sprout.

  3. The sprouts are carefully and carefully planted in pre-prepared and warmed soil. Sprinkle them on top with soil, carefully compacting it. The seeds are more likely to give full-fledged shoots if you cover the container on top with a transparent film and place it in a warm place.

  4. Seedlings begin to dive when 2 true leaves appear.

For growing seedlings, special tomato soils are used. This helps to reliably protect plants from diseases, enables the planted sprouts to develop fully.

The main measures for growing full seedlings are a number of routine activities.

  1. Excessive irrigation is harmful to plants, since waterlogged soils can acidify, preventing air from penetrating to the roots. Moisture deficiency also negatively affects the normal growth of plants. Irrigation frequency largely depends on the volume of containers, as well as the location of the plants. We recommend irrigating, focusing on the degree of dryness of the topsoil.

  2. The level of illumination of seedlings during the day plays an important role in the full development of plants. With a lack of illumination, the stalks of plants stretch out, become thin. When transplanting such bushes into open soils, there will certainly be a need for additional time to adapt them to new conditions.The solution to this problem will be conventional phytolamps for plant highlighting.

  3. The culture needs feeding with nitrogen, potassium, phosphorus, which are the most important elements of its development. The first root dressing is usually carried out 14 days after the pick. The second - after another 14 days.

Subject to the above recommendations and careful care of the seedlings, they are guaranteed not to get sick after transplantation, they soon grow and begin to bloom.

Stable warm, without sudden cold snaps, the weather promotes reliable and efficient transplanting of planting material into open soils. By this time, the seedlings should have 7 true leaves.

Watering tomatoes is not difficult. After planting, the plant is watered at such intervals that the soil remains moist. In dry weather, when it does not rain for a long time, watering can be carried out every day, but usually the beds with tomatoes are irrigated 2-3 times a week.
The methods of tying tomato bushes can vary significantly, depending on the availability of available material, the method of fixation, and also the variety. In general, it is recommended to adhere to the following scheme: first, the central stems are grabbed, and then, as the fruits ripen, the lateral branches.
One of the important conditions for tomato agricultural technology is the correct formation of the bush. The formation of tomato bushes means performing the following steps: pinching, pinching, trimming the leaves, normalizing the ovaries.

A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.

It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.

Disease and pest resistance

There is no actual information on the degree of resistance of the variety to traditional (for nightshade crops) diseases. The practice of growing a crop indicates that no diseases have been recorded during the cultivation of the variety.

Treatment and prevention of diseases and pests
When growing tomatoes in a greenhouse, diseases often occur due to a violation of the temperature regime and excessive humidity. The most common diseases are fungal (late blight, cladosporium, rot).
The fight against diseases and pests of tomatoes in open areas can be quite difficult. This is because nightshades are exposed to a wide variety of pathogens and insect pests.

Resistant to adverse weather conditions

The variety is tolerant to sudden temperature changes, it is intended for cultivation in areas with cold summers, but it does not withstand hot periods worse. It is not recommended for cultivation in southern latitudes, where the temperature reaches +30 degrees.
