It amazes with its decorative effect. These bushes will look great in a flower garden, on a loggia or balcony, they can be grown even on a windowsill, because the variety does not need to be tied up or pinned. And also the Garden Pearl has a very long fruiting period.
Breeding history
The garden pearl was specially conceived as a tomato crop for cultivation in containers and hanging baskets as well as outdoors. This interesting task was solved by the specialists of the agricultural firm "SEDEK" Lukyanenko A. N., Dubinin S. V. and Dubinina I. N. The synonym for the name is Gartenperle. In 2017, the culture was entered in the state register and approved for use in personal subsidiary plots.
Description of the variety
An ampel plant of the Garden Pearl tomato variety can be grown even indoors. Bushes are characterized by a determinant type of growth. Low, compact, creeping bushes do not grow more than 30-40 cm. Leaves are dark green, medium size.
The main qualities of the fruit
At the time of fruiting, the bush is literally strewn with tiny fruits, each of which weighs no more than 15-20 grams. Unripe berries are light green, ripe are painted in a beautiful pink color. Fruits are smooth, round, clustered in clusters.
Taste characteristics
The taste is noted by many as excellent. To some, he seems unusual and a little harsh. Most often, fruits are eaten fresh, for example, in salads, and they are also suitable for decorating dishes, preparing dishes with tomato sauce, and whole-fruit canning.
Ripening and fruiting
The Garden Pearl tomato variety is early (it is 87-93 days). Fruiting differs in duration. Delicious tomatoes can be enjoyed throughout July and August.
Yield
It is considered a fruitful variety, considering that these are cherry tomatoes. In film shelters, a yield of 4.8 kg / m2 was recorded. During the growing season, from 300 to 500 beautiful and tasty fruits are formed on the bush.
The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground
To grow the Garden Pearl in a greenhouse, seeds are sown in February-March, and if they are to be grown in open beds, then in March-April. Transplanting seedlings into the ground takes place in May-June, after warming up the soil.
Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener can harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.
Landing scheme
The optimal planting pattern is 60x90 cm.
Growing and care
This variety of tomatoes differs in that it is completely unpretentious. There are a lot of opportunities to grow such beauty: you can plant it at home or in the garden, on a terrace or balcony. The main thing is to choose the right soil. It should be rich in minerals, drained, and you can add compost or vermiculite to it. You can plant bushes when the soil warms up. Tomatoes are very fond of the sun, so you should choose an open area for transplanting into the ground. You can decorate a garden, a terrace, a balcony with a Garden Pearl by transplanting it into a hanging planter or basket. Tomato clusters look spectacular, especially when neat pink tomatoes appear.
For cultivation of plants in hanging containers, a mixture with a large proportion of high-quality compost is placed in them. At the same time, only one plant can be planted in a vessel 35 cm in diameter. The Garden Pearl should be watered correctly, the main thing is that the water does not fall on the foliage.
At the end of fruiting, it is necessary to collect all ripe berries so that they are not destroyed by frost. Unripe will be able to mature perfectly if they are placed on the windowsill.
A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.
It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.
Resistant to adverse weather conditions
The Garden Pearl variety is perhaps the most unpretentious subspecies of cherry tomatoes. It perfectly tolerates heat, cold snap, and drought, and even a lack of nutrients in the soil.
