Foreign varieties attract with their novelty of taste, they are always a wonder. Japanese tomato Pink Paradise is no exception. Despite the fact that the culture appeared on the territory of Russia relatively recently, many gardeners fell in love with it.
Breeding history
The originators of the variety were the Japanese company Sakata Vegetables Europe S. A. S. After passing all the necessary tests to determine the growing conditions, in 2007 the crop was entered in the State Register and was approved for growing in open and closed ground in many regions of Russia. Tomato Pink Paradise is a hybrid and belongs to indeterminate crops.
Description of the variety
The bushes, due to their characteristics, have unlimited growth power. Indoors, the growth of the stem is 200-250 cm, in open ground - 180-200 cm. Due to indeterminacy, the bushes are tied to a support, in order to avoid breaks and inclination of the crown to the ground under the weight of the fruits. The garter also aids in the harvest. Stems are powerful, strong, well developed, with little pubescence.
The crown is leafy, while the leaves do not shade the fruits. The leaf plate is green, it is small, with dim veins. The back surface is rough. Leaves can bend or curl due to bright sunlight or prolonged drought.
The inflorescence of the culture is simple. The first ovary is laid at the 6-7 leaf level. 4-6 fruits ripen on one bunch.
For a good harvest, it is necessary to leave 1-2 stems.
Tomato Pink Paradise has excellent taste and appearance. Ease of care and insensitivity of seedlings to cold are noted. The characteristics also include good immunity to a number of fungal diseases and the timing of ripening.
Of the shortcomings, the need for the formation of a bush (pinching and removing foliage) is noted.
The main qualities of the fruit
The shape of the fruit is flat-round, with ribbing at the stalk. The weight of the vegetable is 125-140 g. There are also heavier tomatoes. The color of the peel is pink, which corresponds to the name. Unripe fruits are light green. The skin is dense, does not crack, with a slight gloss and bloom.
The pulp is dense, sugary, slightly watery, pink in color. There are not many cameras, they are all small. There are very few seeds in them, in some they are even absent.
Since the variety belongs to hybrids, subsequent breeding with seeds is impossible, since they are either empty or do not preserve the plant's gene pool at all.
Tomatoes are suitable for fresh consumption, for salads, pickling, canning. Due to the dense peel in pickles, the fruits do not crack. Due to their juiciness, tomatoes are suitable for making juices, smoothies, sauces and tomato pastes.
The variety does not differ in long-term keeping quality. In a cold place, fruits are stored for no more than 14 days. For these reasons, transportation is not possible.
Taste characteristics
Many gardeners note the excellent taste of the variety. There is also a characteristic tomato flavor.
Ripening and fruiting
Tomato Pink Paradise is a mid-season crop. The fruit forms and matures within 95-100 days from the setting of the ovaries. Terms may increase due to poor weather conditions and improper care. Fruiting of the variety is long, the harvest takes place in several stages from July to August.
Yield
Pink Paradise shows a good harvest, 1 kg or more is removed from the bush. From 1 m2, the indicators are 3.9 kg.
The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground
The hybrid propagates only by seedlings, therefore, at the beginning of March, the seeds are prepared for sowing. In the southern regions, there is no need for germination of culture. The material is sown immediately into the garden bed. After three months, the first crop can be harvested.
For colder regions, it is still necessary to germinate the variety. For this, the seeds are soaked in water, to which a small concentrate of growth stimulants has been added. Fertile soil is harvested in advance in seedling boxes. The soil can be fed with fertilizers. The holes are made shallow, only 2 cm each.
After sowing the seeds, the boxes are covered with foil or transparent glass. Everything is removed to the windowsill. The temperature in the room should be +18 degrees, under glass - no more than +25. After the seeds hatch, the seedlings must be watered again, and the procedure must be repeated once a week.
If the bushes grow too slowly, then they have a lack of sunlight. Therefore, it is best to resort to a UV lamp. The optimal daylight hours are 16 hours.
The first pick is made when several strong leaves are formed at the seedlings. The second time - when disembarking at a permanent place, when the age of the seedlings will be 50-55 days.
Some gardeners note that Pink Paradise tomato grows best indoors, as it is a thermophilic plant. And also because Japan is considered a producing country, where the air temperature since the beginning of spring has been around +25 degrees and above.
The site is dug up and fertilized before planting. The soil should be slightly acidic. During the day, everything is plentifully spilled with water. Ammonium nitrate can be poured into the bottom of the hole to simulate growth and abundant landscaping.
Garter pegs should be prepared immediately next to the holes.
Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener can harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.
Landing scheme
It is worth observing strictly the distance between the bushes - 40x60 cm. This is necessary so that the bushes feel comfortable and grow normally in the ground. Due to the strength of their growth, they need not only space, but also useful minerals that are in the soil. If this rule is neglected, then the culture may slow down in development, and the harvest time will shift.
Growing and caring
Caring for a crop does not differ from caring for other plants, so the implementation of agrotechnical moments does not take much time.
Since after transplanting the seedlings, fertilizers were applied to the soil and it was spilled abundantly, then the first 14 days you can forget about the culture. It is only necessary to ventilate the greenhouse daily.
Watering should be infrequent, every 5 or 7 days. The peculiarity lies in the fact that water must penetrate to the very roots and moisturize them, and not remain on the surface and evaporate. In this case, the bushes can be mulched with straw, hay or sawdust.
Among fertilizers, you can use a solution of manure, poultry droppings, fluoride. And also minerals with elements of nitrogen, potassium, phosphorus, magnesium and manganese.
Bushes of the Pink Paradise variety abundantly release new stepchildren, which must be removed as soon as their growth reaches the 4 cm mark.
Based on the fact that the culture is indeterminate, the growth and formation of inflorescences can be endless. Therefore, the stem is pinched at a height of 180-200 cm, and 6-8 brushes are left for a good harvest.
To avoid the appearance of pests or fungi, the greenhouse or greenhouse is ventilated daily and the air humidity is observed.
A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.
It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.
Disease and pest resistance
Although the manufacturer claims that tomatoes have excellent immunity and are not afraid of many fungal diseases, preventive spraying is carried out 2 times per season.
