Tomato Pink Bush is a hybrid variety originally from Japan, but has gained incredible popularity in different countries and among Russian gardeners. Its main advantages are the compact size of the bushes, the abundance of delicious pink fruits.
Breeding history
The authors of the variety are breeders representing the French company Sakata Vegetables Europe S. A. S. The variety was allowed to be used only in 2014.
Description of the variety
The determinant bush of the Pink Bush variety is distinguished by its short stature, it grows in height about 70 cm.Its growth is artificially limited to the desired mark.
In greenhouses, bushes often exceed the dimensions indicated by the originator. He also declares the average vigor of the bush.
The self-pollinated plant has a simple inflorescence. The peduncle is articulated. Not too large leaves of natural dark green color. Numerous fruits are able to hold on to a strong stem.
The main qualities of the fruit
Pink Bush tomatoes are very attractive in appearance - round, symmetrical, even, sometimes slightly flattened. Experienced agronomists note that the most flattened fruits ripen first.
When unripe, they are light green, and as they mature, they take on the typical deep pink color. The smooth, evenly colored skin is pleasant to the touch and slightly glossy. The skin is rarely cracked. The peduncle lacks a light green spot.
Ribs are weak. The average weight of a tomato is 110–150 g. Rare fruits grow up to 180–200 g. In fleshy fruits there are 4 to 6 chambers with seeds.
Taste characteristics
The pulp is moderately dense, but juicy, characterized by granularity and the absence of solid veins. The amount of dry matter in one tomato is not more than 7%. The flesh is also pink in color, like the skin. The taste of tomatoes can be judged by the excellent assessment of the State Register. The taste is rated 4.7 out of 5 by professional tasters. This is influenced by the high sugar content (about 3.5%).
Ripening and fruiting
The ripening time of the crop is considered early and is 95-103 days. The fruiting period is long, while the bush gives a friendly harvest - the tomatoes ripen on the brush almost simultaneously.
Yield
The originator notes the high yield of the variety, within the range of 227-480 c / ha (up to 8 kg / m2). Harvesting is done in July-August. The yield is not affected by the modest size of the bushes. They are literally strewn with tomatoes. It is possible to remove up to 12 kg from 1 m2, which is equivalent to 1.5–2 kg from each bush.
The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground
Planting time for seedlings is late March - early April. Seedlings are sent to the ground in May. It is recommended to sow varietal seeds 55-60 days before the planned planting in the ground. The seedlings are supposed to dive when a pair of full-fledged leaves appear.
Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener will be able to harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.
Landing scheme
When planting seedlings, it is recommended to adhere to the scheme 40 x 50 cm. When planting on 1 sq. m place from 4 to 6 plants. A denser planting is impractical.
Growing and care
Basically, plants don't need a garter. But if the ground on the site is not mulched, the garter will protect the brushes with fruits from pollution. In the greenhouse, the hybrid is best supported with trellises.
Caring for tomatoes includes timely watering, feeding with a balanced mineral composition, pinching and preventing the protection of the vegetable crop from infections and parasites.
The schedule and intensity of watering and feeding are in many ways similar to those for other varieties. With the irrigation regime in the open field, they are guided by the climate. Top dressing is carried out with standard complex mineral compositions developed for tomatoes.
Low-growing tomato varieties like Pink Bush do not require constant pinching. Many farmers see this as a clear advantage if they plan to grow many plants of this variety.
This procedure is shown only in those regions where the summer season is short. In this case, the removal of the lateral processes contributes to the timely ripening of the fruit.
A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.
It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.
Disease and pest resistance
Pink Bush is resistant to skin cracking on fruits, cladosporiosis and verticillosis. In fact, it is not subject to fusarium wilt and top rot. Tomatoes are also not afraid of the annoying nematode. The fruits have good immunity to mosaic disease and Alternaria.
Resistant to adverse weather conditions
The variety is heat-resistant and does not react to changes in soil temperature. A sharp change in humidity also does not affect the state of the buds and ovaries.
Growing regions
Recommended to grow in the climate of the North Caucasian region and the Central Black Earth Region.
Review overview
One of the many advantages of the variety is its external presentability. Hybrid Tomatoes Pink Bush are distinguished by a special taste: sugary, harmonious and soft at the same time.
Tomatoes are shown to be included in the dietary menu and in the regular diet if you are allergic to similar vegetables with red skin and pulp. With its hypoallergenicity, the fruits do not give up their positions to classical prototypes in terms of the percentage of saturation with valuable substances: carotene, lycopene, organic acids and other vitamins. And they even surpass them in the amount of selenium. This cannot but attract consumers, because selenium has a beneficial effect on the immune system, activates brain activity, and fights stress and apathy.
The fruits are tastier when consumed fresh. According to the original characteristics, the hybrid belongs to the category of salad. However, this does not mean at all that high-quality homemade preparations will not come out of it. Although housewives rarely use them for pickling and pickling. This is because the typical tomato flavor is significantly lost during the heat treatment.
The only thing that cannot be prepared from dense, full-bodied fruits is tomato juice. But thanks to this feature, tomatoes can be dried with high quality and cooked into a paste. True, it turns out to be somewhat paler than usual, but no less tasty.
Even finally ripe tomatoes are stored for 12-15 days, without losing their presentable appearance and density. If collected during immaturity, the shelf life will be up to 2.5 months.
The hybridity of the variety means that it is not possible to independently collect seeds for seedlings. By the new season, they need to be bought again, having paid a considerable cost for planting material. Farmers note that the popularity of the hybrid affects the fact that you can often run into fake seeds.
Seedlings have to be given close attention because of their exactingness to growing conditions. It is during this period that many gardeners lose a significant proportion of their crops.
The place of cultivation, the type and composition of the soil, the weather in the summer season affect the palatability. If Pink Bush tomatoes are planted in unsuitable conditions, the fruits will turn out to be bland and harsher in taste.
A good harvest will certainly please with timely planting of seeds, getting healthy and strong seedlings and after planting them in a permanent place.
